Chapter 76: My education policy

Snapping my fingers, I shot a fireball at my brother’s, Gwen, face.

“Arg! Argh! It hurts! It hurts! It hurts!”

Though my fireball was low-grade just like Gwen’s, he couldn’t even avoid that and took the hit on his face. Then, he rolled around on the ground in agony from the heat.

However, magically created fire can’t be extinguished by just rolling around. It just continues burning. My family just watched Gwen roll around, dumbfounded, and none of them took any action to save him.

“Tch ”

I clicked my tongue at such a family and shot a water ball, which put out the fireball, but it didn’t clear the burn on his face.

“Are you idiots? If you were planning to leave Gwen to die, that’s fine, but it’s common knowledge that things created by magic will not disappear until the energy powering it, in this case, the magic power, is gone. Don’t you even understand that?”

“Ah? Is that all you have to say?”

It is a fact that I went out of my way to help him even though there was no need to, yet my father looked to be extremely angry. My younger brother and sister hid behind him so as to not get caught in the middle of his fit of anger.

“Ha? What is this attitude of gratitude toward the person who saved your son’s life, father? ‘—Thank you.’ Even a commoner child would say that. My ancestors must be crying if you can’t even say that.”

“Shut up! You trash!!! Even your mother, that woman, always gave me orders with her condescending glances! I should have killed you with her that day, you who have the same face like her!”

My father easily fell for my provocations, and as his emotions took over, he fired a series of fireballs, one of the highest levels of beginner magic, at me.

In addition to his title as a duke, my father has always lived in an environment where anyone he dislikes or talks back to him gets excluded, so he has no tolerance for provocations. It’s simply ridiculous.

Watching this scene made me say…

“It’s like a big kid throwing a tantrum.”

“Hah, hah, you b*****d… why are you unharmed?”

As one might expect from the head of a ducal family, the duke had a considerable amount of magic power for this world, but it was no use if it was all consumed at once.

“It’s part of my educational policy to thoroughly silence scum who won’t listen to me, especially when it’s about life-threatening pranks, antics and the like. I want them to know what they are doing before it ensues because you can’t take it back after it happens. It doesn’t matter if the reason for stopping is fear of punishment. I think it’s a hundred times better than if something irreversible happens. Whether you agree or not, that’s the way I do it, Father.”
