Chapter 11: Exposed

“Young lady, I’m telling you, your palmistry does not look good,” The skinny man caressed the young lady’s palm. “Look at this, there are countless branches on your love line. It means that everything is good in the beginning of a relationship, but all of them ended up cheating on you. Your relationships will not end well.”

The skinny man shook his head in pity, “You have done something bad in the previous life and had a love debt which you need to repay in this life.”

“Is it so exaggerated?” The lady’s companion looked at the skinny man suspiciously. She felt like he was lying. Talking about the previous life like it was a literary novel. Who believed this nonsense?

“I knew that you wouldn’t believe me, but think about it. Isn’t it true that this young lady’s relationships have not gone well?” The skinny man looked confident. Before the two ladies could react, he continued, “Those who are educated like yourselves don’t believe in this, but think about this, can everything in this world be explained by science?”

“No, right?” The skinny man pretended to let go of the young lady’s hand subconsciously and shook his head, “Fortune-tellers have become rare these days, because there are too many scammers who destroyed our reputation. It’s normal for you not to believe me.”

Qi Yan heard everything the scammer said, from nonsensical things about heavenly principles to something that sounded plausible. When he finally convinced the ladies, Qi Yan was still holding back, but when he heard him asking for the ladies’ contact, he could not hold it in any longer and tapped on the skinny man’s shoulder.

The skinny man was secretly pleased as he was about to get two beauties’ contact numbers. But just as he was about to succeed, he was interrupted.

“Who’s that?!” The skinny man turned around impatiently and saw a young man with a baby face standing behind him. His smiling face was amicable and harmless. People tended to be less defensive when they saw someone with such a face. The skinny man was no exception. He furrowed his brows and asked, “Little handsome, you want to get your fortune told?”

“Yes.” Qi Yan squatted beside the two ladies and turned his palms, “You seemed to be really good at this, why don’t you read mine?”

“Little handsome, first come first serve. Let me finish reading the two ladies first.”

The skinny man was determined. He liked women, especially beautiful women. Even if Qi Yan was the most handsome man, he wouldn’t change his mind.

However, that didn’t mean that Qi Yan would let him achieve his goal. He immediately stopped the skinny man who was about to hold the ladies’ hands and smiled, “Since you are not willing to tell my fortune, then I’ll tell yours.”

The two ladies were initially in a daze after being coaxed by the skinny man. Seeing that there was a young handsome man in front of them, they suddenly realized that they might have met a scammer.

“You dropped out of school and left home at fifteen, you were in jail at eighteen, betrayed someone at twenty-three. After thirty you committed all sorts of crimes,” Qi Yan stood up and looked condescendingly at the man, “Now you even pretend to be a fortune-teller and lie to young women. You are indeed talented.”

The skinny man’s face dropped. He didn’t expect someone to know his part. He looked around and then at Qi Yan cautiously, “Who are you, how do you know things about me?”

“Didn’t you just tell the two beautiful ladies just now?” Qi Yan smiled lightly, “Fortune-telling works mysteriously, it knows what others don’t know and sees what others don’t see. Shouldn’t you know that I just read your past?”

“Don’t talk nonsense. If you could really tell fortune, then I am your master,” The skinny man’s expression fluctuated and said sternly, “I advise you not to meddle in my business. Otherwise, you won’t end well.”

“Whether or not I will end well is not your concern, but I’m sure you won’t end well.” Qi Yan grabbed his hand and tore off the fake beard on his face.

Seeing that he was exposed, the skinny man didn’t care anymore and wanted to run away. But Qi Yan already expected that and grabbed his shirt with one hand. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn’t get away.

The two young ladies wanted to call the police, but they were not fast enough. Before they finished dialing the three numbers, there were two policemen who ran over.

“Police, here!” Witnessing Qi Yan exposing an entire operation, Wang Hang was stunned. He only came back to his senses when he saw the policemen and waved at them to get their attention.

Seeing the policemen, the skinny man struggled even harder, as though he was terrified of them and didn’t want them to see his face. Unfortunately, the more he struggled, the stronger Qi Yan’s hands were. His hands were like pliers that gripped tightly around him.

“What’s going on?” The two policemen walked over and looked at Qi Yan and the skinny man who didn’t dare lift his head. They finally softened their expressions and looked at Qi Yan who seemed to be more willing to talk.

“Sir, it’s like that, I just had dinner with my friend when we saw this scammer pretending to be a fortune-teller. I was worried that something might happen to the ladies so I kept watching him.” Qi Yan said innocently, “But the more I look at him, the more he resembles a wanted criminal, so I pretended to expose him until you came.”

Wanted criminal?!

When the two policemen heard that, they looked even more stern. They turned around to look at the skinny man who was trembling and subconsciously believed what Qi Yan said.

Finally, they look everyone on the scene to the police station, including the two ladies who were almost scammed. As a result, it was indeed true that the skinny man was a wanted criminal. Not only did he have a criminal record, he was later wanted for robbery and rape. The police had not been able to find him. They didn’t expect him to become so skinny within a month and disguised as a fortune-teller.

His face looked so round in the photo attached to the wanted order, but now he was so skinny that his face was sunken. How did the young man recognize him?

Qi Yan explained that it was just a coincidence. He was not too sure himself. Even though the police thought that it was too much of a coincidence, they were very grateful for a helpful citizen like him to help them arrest the criminal. They even promised to send the reward money to his bank account soon.

After Qi Yan left, the police realized that the bank account that he provided did not belong to him, but to a children’s welfare institute in Capital City.

Hence, Qi Yan who helped arrest a wanted criminal and refused the reward left a good impression on those in the police station. Then, a reporter got to know about the news. Not only did he get a picture of a blurred face from the police, he also wrote a praise article and sent it to the newspaper agencies and online platforms.

But the reporter had added too many details. He described the process of arresting the wanted criminal into a martial art fight scene and made the online readers who didn’t know what truly happened to laugh out loud. They thought that the young man was brave and righteous, but not many took it seriously.

Some of them complimented the young man’s who didn’t want a reward and let the police send the money to charity and felt that they needed more people like that in society to make life better.

Wang Hang read the news at home and was proud, but he felt bad that he couldn’t tell the online readers that this young man was his roommate.

Finally, he couldn’t hold it in anymore and sent a message to his friends on Wechat which made him feel better.

After a while, a few people “liked” his message and some asked who the young man was. Wang Hang read the curious comments and calmly turned off his phone.

Seeing that these people didn’t know anything and were curious about it, he felt satisfied.

Qi Yan was not on Weibo and Wechat groups, so he didn’t know anything that was posted online.

When he received Du Dong’s call, he was just enjoying the cool air from the air-conditioner and having some watermelon. After hearing what Du Dong said, Qi Yan calmly spit out the watermelon seeds, “Since this person is curious about me, you could bring him over. As for other things, it’s up to fate.”

“I understand, Master Qi. Sorry for disturbing you.” Du Dong hung up and felt relieved. Regardless of whether the master was willing to help Liang Feng, at least he had done what he should. Liang Feng could not blame him.
