Chapter 20: Curse

Qi Yan didn’t expect Cen Baihe to say that. He looked at Cen Baihe with a puzzled face, “What does Mr. Cen mean?”

Fifth Master Cen was very observant and had strong cognitive skills, no wonder others found him formidable. He had high attention to detail.

Seeing Qi Yan’s dazed face, Cen Baihe rubbed his pale knuckles on the wine glass a few times and smiled, “Nothing, just simply saying.”

After the meal, Cen Baihe sent Qi Yan home. When passing by the roast duck restaurant, Qi Yan was still hopeful and took a few glances at the roast duck restaurant. As business was good, the restaurant closed in the afternoon. He wondered if the shop assistant would still recognize him if he were to go tomorrow to pick up his roast duck.

Even if they recognized him, the roast duck would be spoiled and inedible. Thinking of this, Qi Yan deeply regretted it. When he went to the police station just now, why didn’t he bring his roast duck with him? It’s shameful to waste food!

“Master Qi?” Cen Baihe noticed a change in Qi Yan’s mood. He glanced out of the window and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Qi Yan smiled and shook his head. When the car reached the gate, Qi Yan got out of the car and said to Cen Baihe, “Thank you, Mr. Cen.  Goodbye.”

Cen Baihe nodded slightly and said, “You’re welcome.”

The car window slowly rolled up. Qi Yan watched as Cen Baihe’s car drove away. He then walked into the small residential area while humming. Before he had taken two steps, two people stopped him.

“You’re Qi Yan?” The person who spoke wore a leather jacket and looked at Qi Yan with slanted eyes. He said to his companion, “It’s him.”

His companion did not say anything. Together with the man who was wearing a leather jacket, they pulled Qi Yan’s arm and brought him into the car parked on the side and shut the door with a “bam”.

This was the first time Qi Yan was taken into a car in a “kidnap” style. He looked at the man in the jacket sitting on his right, his face was impatient, as if he didn’t want to bother with Qi Yan. The man sitting to his left had a sharp chin and a shaggy beard. It was clear that he did not have a good life.

When he noticed Qi Yan looking at him, the sharp-chinned man lit a cigarette and inhaled sharply, “Looking like a gigolo and didn’t even have respect for Brother Sun when you’re pretending to be a fortune-teller. Are you stupid?”

Qi Yan squeezed his arm that was hurt by the two men, and said calmly, “When did I offend your Brother Sun?”

“Kid, are you playing dumb?” The sharp-chinned man raised his hand and wanted to hit Qi Yan. The car suddenly braked, and he was thrown against the back of the car seat. He yelled and blood rushed out from his nose.

“Third brother, do you know how to drive?!” He scolded, and the driver murmured a few words and ignored him. The sharp-chinned man pretended not to hear, and stuffed tissue into his nose. Seeing that Qi Yan was still looking at him, he yelled, “What are you looking at?! You think I won’t cut you up?”

Qi Yan smiled, “I advise you not to do that, otherwise it won’t just be your nose that got smashed.”

“Are you addicted to pretending to be a fortune-teller?” The sharp-chinned man was just about to punch Qi Yan when the car suddenly turned and his head hit the window with a “bam”.

He held his head and wailed a few times. When he looked up at Qi Yan with a hint of fear in his eyes. The first time could be a coincidence, but twice would be sorcery. So after that, he sat back and even moved aside to make more room for Qi Yan.

The man in the leather jacket witnessed what happened and started to feel suspicious. He glanced at the miserable sharp-chinned man and said to Qi Yan, “You really know how to do these things?”

Qi Yan smiled and looked innocent, “It’s just a coincidence.”

But the more he said so, the more the man in the leather jacket believed that he had some abilities, so when he passed by a supermarket, he bought a bottle of iced drink for Qi Yan, and he was more polite to him.

Although they were just street gangsters, they had heard some legends about strange people and things since they were young, and they knew one shouldn’t offend these masters. Thinking of how they treated him so rudely just now, they felt a little guilty in their hearts.

“Master Qi, a few of our brothers are ignorant and offended you. Please don’t take it to heart.” The man in the leather jacket opened the bottle and handed it to Qi Yan with both hands, “Please drink water.”

“Thank you, I’m not thirsty.” Qi Yan kept a mysterious smile on his face.

The man in the jacket put the bottle cap back and placed the drink behind him. He smiled pleasantly, “My brothers and I are just doing our job. The eldest son of the Sun family heard that you embarrassed Sister Lu, so he was angry and wanted us to bring you over.”

When the man in the leather jacket saw that Qi Yan’s expression remained the same, he explained Master Lu’s identity and how famous was the person they called “Sister Lu”.

Qi Yan learned that the tall and fat man he refused last time was Lu Xuan’s agent, and now it was Lu Xuan’s fiancé Sun Xiang who was looking for trouble.

Qi Yan understood the whole story. He still wanted to meet Sun Xiang. After all, there were not many people in Capital City who couldn’t use their brain.

The car drove all the way to a certain nightclub and stopped. The man in the jacket opened the door for Qi Yan, nodded and asked him to get off. Before entering the elevator, he nodded and bowed to let Qi Yan go in first. If someone saw them, they would think that a gang leader had brought his followers to the nightclub, not that the “boss” was forcibly brought over by his followers.

The elevator went all the way up and stopped on the third floor. Qi Yan glanced across the glorious corridor, slowly put his hands behind him, and stepped out of the elevator.

“Welcome.” An attendant at the elevator door bowed to Qi Yan. After Qi Yan thanked him, he turned to the man in the jacket and said, “Lead the way.”

“Master Qi, please come with me.” Seeing that Qi Yan finally took the initiative to speak to him, the man in the jacket became energetic and led the way. The sharp-chinned face who was a step behind him and hated himself for not reacting fast enough which let the man in the jacket seize this good opportunity.

“Young Master Sun, I heard that these masters should not be offended, did you really arrange for someone to bring him over?”

“Why not? If he is so powerful, why does he still live in a cheap area?” Sun Xiang put the wine glass on the table, “He embarrassed my girlfriend, which is the same as disrespecting me. I won’t take that.”

When everyone heard that, some agreed while others looked like they did not want to participate in this. Anyway, everyone there was scum. Sun Xiang’s family only moved into the Capital City two years ago. Although they didn’t have much reputation, they were generous with their money. So these people would follow him around since no one disliked money.

“I heard Fatty Gao say that Master Qi looked fair and delicate. I wonder if the rich and powerful who asked him to look at Feng Shui liked him or his ability?” Someone said cheekily and made everyone in the room laugh.

“Sorry to interrupt!”

The pleasant male voice was heard. It was not loud, but everyone in the room heard it clearly. The laughter in the room stopped abruptly. Sun Xiang raised his head and looked at the door. He didn’t know when the door was opened. A young man in a white shirt stood there with slightly curled hair sticking to his ears. He looked like a harmless college student.

The three men whom he arranged to get him had their heads bowed like a frightened quail, hiding behind the young man and not daring to make a sound. Seeing them like this, Sun Xiang was furious. If others found out that his followers were so useless, he would be the one who’s embarrassed.

“I asked you to bring someone here, what took you so long?” Sun Xiang lifted his chin and squinted at Qi Yan, “You are Qi Yan?”

Only then did the others in the room realize that the young man standing at the door was the person Sun Xiang wanted to get back at. He had a fair face and unlike them, there was an air of elegance around him. They felt a little bit of pity for Qi Yan.

Sun Xiang was a small-minded person who feared the strong and bullied the weak. He had gotten back at every ordinary person who had offended him in the past two years. This young man looked like a child who had been spoiled by his family since he was a child. He probably didn’t know how dark and terrible the means of revenge could be.

Seeing Qi Yan’s white and tender face and cute curly hair, an escort who was there was filled with compassion, “Young Master Sun, I don’t think this Mr. Qi is an ignorant person. Is there any misunderstanding in this?”

“Is there a place for you to speak?” Sun Xiang picked up the wine glass in front of him and splashed it on the face of the escort, “Get out of here.”

The escort didn’t even dare wipe her face after being splashed. After apologizing to Sun Xiang, she got up and walked out of the private room.

When she passed by Qi Yan, he stopped her.

The escort’s eyes were slightly red, but she didn’t dare to let the tears fall. She shook her head at Qi Yan slightly, indicating that he should not oppose Sun Xiang. These rich young masters had many ways to deal with people. This boy looked almost as old as her sister, so he had not experienced this kind of suffering.

But Qi Yan didn’t say anything to her, he only put a fresh sheet of wet tissue in her hand and thanked her.

The escort took the wet tissue and left hurriedly.

Qi Yan leaned on the door frame with an ambiguous smile. He looked at Sun Xiang and said, “Sinister eyes, bad mouth, unlucky ears. Young Master Sun’s life is not that good. I am afraid you have a short life and a restless home.”

As soon as he said this, the eyes of the sharp-chinned man and the man in jacket looked at Sun Xiang differently, with a hint of gloating and sympathy.

The other people in the room took a deep breath. This little fair-faced kid started cursing the moment he opened his mouth. That’s unlucky.
