Chapter 22: That’s Crazy

“Mr. Cen,” Qi Yan did not expect Cen Baihe to stop suddenly in front of him. He was a little surprised, but he still maintained a gentle expression on his face, “What a coincidence.”

An hour or two ago, they had only just eaten together, then they met again in this place. Looking at the way he dressed, he must have come from a formal event. His tie was still on.

“I heard that someone invited Master Qi here. I was passing by, so I came to have a look.” Cen Baihe turned his head and looked at the people behind him, “I wonder who invited Master Qi?”

Everyone at the scene looked at Qi Yan differently. This young man was called a master by Fifth Master Cen. What was his identity? Fifth Master Cen’s words sounded odd. He came here to support Master Qi?

Which idiot offended Master Qi and attracted Fifth Master Cen, the god of bad luck?

Many of them followed Fifth Master Cen. It’s not that they wanted to please him, but they didn’t dare to not greet him. They were afraid that they’d be accused of not greeting him, knowing that he’s here.

Sun Xiang and his friends were confused. How could Qi Yan be so familiar with Fifth Master Cen, who came to a place that he rarely set foot in just for him?

His friends were terrified and Sun Xiang almost knelt down. If he had known that Qi Yan was so powerful, he wouldn’t have dared to cause such trouble.

At this moment, Sun Xiang wanted to hug Qi Yan’s leg and call him master, as long as he didn’t tell Fifth Master Cen that he brought him here. But Qi Yan didn’t hear him crying madly in his heart, and answered Fifth Master Cen’s question honestly.

“After having lunch with you, I was invited by the Sun family to come here to drink right after getting out of the car,” Qi Yan glanced over at Sun Xiang with a smile, “Young Master Sun is enthusiastic, but unfortunately he is not lucky. He just hurt his hand with a beer bottle.”

When Qi Yan looked at him like this, Sun Xiang shuddered inexplicably. A chill burst out from deep in his heart, which made him feel a special kind of fear.

He suddenly remembered the old wives’ tale that was told to him by his grandmother when he was very young. She was holding him and sitting outside the country house, waving her fan.

“Those skilled carpenters and Feng Shui masters must not be offended. They have a lot of magical skills. If one were to offend them, the person might lose their lives or become disabled…”

At that time, he was young and looked down upon his grandmother’s family who lived in the countryside. He didn’t want to listen to the old wives’ tales told by his grandmother, so he had forgotten about them long ago.

Now this memory suddenly reappeared in his mind, making him realize for the first time that maybe money was not everything.

“Young Master Sun is so enthusiastic,” Cen Baihe didn’t even know who Young Master Sun was. In the entire Capital City, there were not many people who could communicate with him, and Sun Xiang was definitely not one of them. He glanced across the crowd, and finally found Sun Xiang whose palm was wrapped in gauze. He looked at him from head to toe, “Young Master Sun has a unique way of treating guests.”

“Fifth Master Cen, I…” Sun Xiang looked around. The friends who were standing beside him were nowhere to be seen. It was like a vacuum zone next to him, and no one was there.

But Cen Baihe was not in the mood to listen to his explanation, “There are too many people here, and Master Qi likes a quiet place. I’m afraid he can’t stay.”

Sun Xiang lowered his head and dared not say anything.

Cen Baihe turned around to look at Qi Yan, “Master Qi, do you have to be somewhere? I’ll send you.”

“Thank you Mr. Cen. Just take me home directly.” Qi Yan smiled at Cen Baihe and walked up to Sun Xiang, “Thank you Young Master Sun for the warm hospitality.”
The others retreated to the sides and made way for Qi Yan. Qi Yan turned to look at Cen Baihe, “Mr. Cen please.”

Cen Baihe didn’t move, and gestured for Qi Yan to go ahead. Qi Yan laughed lightly and did not refuse. He walked in front of Cen Baihe in front of everyone. Cen Baihe was not upset at all. Before entering the elevator, he personally held the elevator door for the master to prevent the elevator from closing and hurting Master Qi. He displayed full respect for Qi Yan.

The others hurriedly followed them and watched Fifth Master Cen and Master Qi left in the car. Then they walked back in small groups.

When they walked back upstairs, they saw Sun Xiang standing in place helplessly with a pale face. No one sympathized with him, and they went back to their private rooms. They were not the same as Sun Xiang. Even though they hung out sometimes, they knew their place and would not behave like Sun Xiang who had no regard for laws.

The Capital City was a place where there were many kinds of people. Maybe the uncle who collected payment at the entrance of the public toilet had a relative who was an important person. If one had money, one could eat, drink, and have fun. What’s the point of bullying ordinary people? Now he felt the pain of offending the wrong person.

But at this moment, no one cared if he was in pain or not.

When he was with Fifth Master Cen, Qi Yan had the illusion that purple mist was not that valuable, although for most people, as long as there was a bit of purple mist, it was already a rare fortune.

“Thank you, Mr. Cen.” Qi Yan was not stupid. He knew that Cen Baihe came all the way here for him.

“Master Qi doesn’t need to be polite with me,” A smile appeared on Cen Baihe’s pale face, “If I don’t show up, Master Qi could definitely settle this on your own. It was unnecessary for me to be there.”

“Mr. Cen was willing to be there for me. It’s not unnecessary,” Qi Yan smiled, “I definitely want someone like you as a friend, if Mr. Cen doesn’t mind.”

For a person who knows how to tell fortune, he could tell with his naked eyes whether they were genuine or fake. Cen Baihe made this trip especially for him, and he started to see Fifth Master Cen, whom countless people looked up to, for who he was.

Cold but sincere, this person’s personality was very contradictory, but it was not surprising. Some people did not show much emotions, but those who are treated sincerely by them would never worry about being betrayed or let down.

“Friends.” Cen Baihe said the word, and the corners of his beautiful lips raised slightly, “I thought we were already friends.”

Cen Baihe’s complexion was pale. There was a kind of unspeakable charm exuding from his sickly body. People were in awe of him and admired him from the bottom of their hearts. Although he was unhealthy, no one would treat him with the slightest contempt because of his health.

“It’s my honor to be friends with Mr. Cen.” Qi Yan smiled.

“Baihe,” Cen Baihe tugged on the bow tie around his neck, “Since we are already friends, call me Baihe from now on.”

“’Bai’, the evergreen pines, and ‘He’ the cranes that symbolize auspiciousness,” Qi Yan leaned back in his seat, “You have a very good name.”

The blessings of the elders were all in his name, which showed the family’s love for him.

Cen Baihe smiled, looking very calm. Of course he knew the care and blessings of his family, but there were some things that he could not get by force.

Qi Yan stretched out his hand and grabbed the air. He smiled and said to Cen Baihe, “On the first day we officially become friends, here’s a gift.”

Cen Baihe opened his right palm.

“Left hand.” Qi Yan raised his chin, signaling him to switch to the other hand.

Cen Baihe smiled helplessly and stretched out his left hand.

Qi Yan put his hand on the palm of his left hand. At this moment, Cen Baihe felt that his palm was so hot that he was flustered.

But this flustered feeling only lasted a second, because Qi Yan quickly retracted his hand. There was nothing in his palm.

The bodyguard sitting in the passenger seat was speechless. As the bodyguard of the fifth master, he always paid attention to whoever came in contact with him. There were many people who wanted to get close to the fifth master, but it was the first time someone gave him air as a gift.

“Thank you.” Cen Baihe smiled and gripped his palm, as though there was really something there.

The bodyguard shook his head. He didn’t expect the fifth master to be such a good actor.

Qi Yan liked that Cen Baihe played along even though he didn’t understand it. He smiled and said, “You’re welcome.”

The bodyguard’s heart was in a frenzy, and he did not expect that the fifth master would consider such a shameless person as his friend. He was completely different from the innocent and unpretentious people.

The car drove out of the bustling neighborhood and entered the old city area. Qi Yan lived just outside the old city area. Because of municipal planning, the houses here still retained the architectural style of the 19th century. If it weren’t for their modern outfits, one might think that they had gone back in time.

As the car was about to pass an alleyway, Qi Yan frowned as he looked at the narrow alley, “Hold on.”

The car stopped at his command. Cen Baihe saw that Qi Yan’s face did not look so good, “What’s wrong?”

“Someone is here to borrow luck.” Qi Yan opened the door and as he got out of the car, he saw the purple mist on his body that came from Cen Baihe and was sucked away by the charm in the alley. He turned around and stopped the bodyguard who wanted to get out of the car. Then, looking at the confused bodyguard, he made a gesture at the car, “Don’t come out!”

This charm was much stronger than the one he encountered in the market last time, and it was also much more brutal. With his naked eyes, he could see that this alley was full of evil spirits and even death. Perhaps soon, there would be accidents like a house fire, causing many casualties.

But  today’s temperature was too high. It’s three or four o’clock in the afternoon at the moment. There were almost no pedestrians in the alley, and he didn’t know whether these pedestrians were residents or passers-by, so he couldn’t tell from their faces how bad the situation was.

Someone wanted to use this charm to change their fate, and the price was huge. Even if ten people were sacrificed, it might not be able to prolong the life of the person by ten years.

“That’s crazy!” Qi Yan glanced around. After confirming that there was no surveillance camera, he didn’t care that Cen Baihe and others were still in the car. He hid in a corner where no one noticed, and took out a pencil from his pocket. He wrote so fast that the motion was blurry.

“Fifth…Fifth Master, what is Master Qi doing?” The bodyguard was dumbfounded. He wanted to open the car window to see more clearly, but found that the car window seemed to be malfunctioning and couldn’t be opened.

Cen Baihe’s gaze fell on the corner of the wall, and the figure that kept writing under the blazing sun looked strange in this peaceful alley, but it also seemed exceptionally harmonious.
