Fireworks exploded in Ding Yi’s mind, but she was apathetic.

She hurriedly lifted the unconscious Mu Yueshi and left the room; she was in no mood to check out her rewards

Ding Yi wept as she wiped the blood from his face. What should I do? He’s bleeding so much, and he’s still so young. That damned old monk really didn’t hold back!

Mu Yueshi was severely injured, and she herself didn’t fare any better.

As always, the cost of a cannon fodder standing up is usually their life!

The haggard Ding Yi ran back to her home, disregarding the aftermath at the Liu manor, which was now in chaos in the wake of Yuankong’s death.

The rest of the matter should be up to the righteous sects to resolve.

Ding Yi frantically attempted to stop Mu Yueshi’s bleeding. She took out all the recovery potions she had accumulated with the system and used them all haphazardly on Mu Yueshi’s wounds.

The system could not bear to watch any longer and reminded her: The target’s life is not in danger. Aimlessly using medicine will not have any positive effect.

Ding Yi: Then what should I do? Just watch him bleed?!!

Ding Yi was in a fit of hysteria. She cleaned Mu Yueshi’s face of blood with her shaking hand, fiercely crying.

She knew that she was overreacting, but the person was right in front of her. How could she remain indifferent in such a situation?

Even if he couldn’t scream in pain, her heart hurt for him.

This made her think of the Mu Yueshi in the original work, who was all alone. How much had he suffered? How badly had he been hurt?

When she imagined it, she felt terrible.

What use was she?

The system, seeing Ding Yi’s emotions run wild, immediately offered some comforting words: If you’re good to him, he’ll feel your kindness. Compared to the original work, the current situation isn’t bad at all. Host, you should get it together! You’re already more than halfway there!

Ding Yi sniffled, her face ashen: I don’t believe you, unless you can cure the boss’s wounds and eyes and erase his bloody memories and psychological problems.

System: …

She looked terrible but she still had the energy to haggle. It looks like the system was worried for nothing.

The host’s heart was flexible and strong!

As it turns out, having no shame had its benefits. Ding Yi was eventually able to convince the system to cure the sequelae to Mu Yueshi’s injury, but the highly principled system still deducted her points as compensation for the service.

Ding Yi looked on with a heavy heart as half of her recently earned points disappeared in an instant: Boss, aren’t you being too mean? I didn’t even get a friendship discount!

The system replied stoically: I also bear risk when performing illegal actions. It is only fair that points are deducted.

As a logical conclusion, Mu Yueshi should have lost an eye from his injuries.

Ding Yi knew this, and it was the reason why she was so worried. She’d rather lose points than have Mu Yueshi suffer.

As sad as it was to have lost most of her points, Ding Yi knew that it was worth it. The boss deserved a bright future!

After using the quick recovery potion, Ding Yi’s comparatively lighter wounds were soon completely healed.

Mu Yueshi, on the other hand, recovered much slower as his wounds were much more severe.

Ding Yi sat sideways on the bedside, carefully wiping away the sweat on Mu Yueshi’s forehead. His fine features were pale and his brows tightly knit. The corners of his eyes were colored by a bit of dark red demonic energy, giving him a frail and coquettish look.

Ding Yi saw his suffering and felt like something was lodged in her chest, causing her to lose all her appetite.

Waiting on the bedside, Ding Yi said to the system worriedly: Boss, I feel like I’m dying. When Mu Yueshi is suffering, I feel like I’m suffocating… My heart aches so much. I’m such a responsible guardian, don’t you think I should get some image points?

Although Ding Yi is bothering the system mostly due to boredom, her heart was suffering from physical discomfort, and the feeling was getting stronger these past few days.

The system replied sardonically: Isn’t that normal? Mu Yueshi formed a contract with you, and so your lives are bound together; not even death will do you two apart. Since he gave his soul to you, his injuries will of course affect you as well.

Ding Yi froze, her expression dumbfounded.

Contract? What contract?

She was freaking out: When did that happen? Why didn’t I hear about this?!!

To be fair, it wasn’t that she was slow. When the contract happened, her mind was in chaos, and so she was in no condition to process anything that Mu Yueshi had said during that time.
