The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 9: Another World, Here I Come

On this day, a griffon crossed half the forest while carrying a person, flying in the sky over the forest.

No foolish demonic beasts tried to make a nuisance of themselves during that time.

That's because most demonic beasts can't fly, and the vast majority of those that can wouldn't dare try their luck against a high leveled demonic beast like a griffon. Thus, Shien passed through half the forest without any trouble. The distance covered was better than what he managed to accomplish the past ten days put together.

This made Shien happier and happier, and he became more and more hopeful that he could actually escape, and begun to look more and more forward towards the future.

Of course, Shien didn't go back on his promise. He constantly injected more magic into the griffon below him, making it fly faster and faster and cry out more and more happily.

It's obvious that Shien's actions have completely captured the griffon's heart.

This made Shien take a moment to look at the effect of the [Taming] Skill.

==========

[Taming]

Active Skill

Using magic by set method with the goal and effect of taming demonic beasts. The higher the level, the higher leveled, rarer, and more powerful the demonic beasts tamable.

==========

You can tell how useful the skill is with just a look.

Thus, Shien put even more effort in giving magic to the griffon. The griffon too started flying with even more effort.

This naturally exhausted a great deal of Shien's magic power.

However, due to the [Magecraft] skill, Shien has is quite a bit of magic power.

If one were to say that under normal circumstances, Shien's MP is [100], then under the effect effect of [Magecraft]'s bonuses, that MP will have become [1000]. The full boost is over 10x.

And that's only the effect of [Magecraft] at level 1.

Thus, when Shien had maxed out [Magecraft], Shien's MP had become who knows how many times from what it was before. Plus, following Shien's level ups, his magic will also have increased. This is what let Shien freely use the [Limit Evolution] skill.

Under this kind of situation, plus the effect of the [Magic Recovery] skill, Shien's MP would quickly regenerate the moment it's been used. Especially since after the skill was maxed out, the MP Shien used up would always be restored to full within a second. It's practically breaking the rules.

With all that, Shien doesn't need to worry about running out of MP at all. Even when he's constantly burning huge amounts of magic like this, his MP is still at full like it's not been used at all.

Since things are like that, Shien could constantly inject magic into the griffon, use it to take it, and have the griffon carry him while flying.

After some time flying, Shien finally was the forest's border.

"Finally out, huh?"

As he saw the enormous plains beyond the boundaries of the forest, Shien got exited.

"Ten whole days. I can finally leave this damned forest."

Shien could no longer wait to see people besides himself and eat the food of human civilization rather than socializing with demonic beasts constantly, eating the meat of demonic beasts, and playing a wilderness survival game.

"Kewl!"

The griffon cried out as if it could feel what Shien was thinking. Its wings flapped once more, and its speed increased some more.

It has to be said, the griffon really is fast, to the point where it could compare to a fighter jet from Shien's previous life. That's what it took to bring Shien out of the forest that he couldn't reach the end of even after ten days.

"Supposedly, griffons have the ability to predict the weather, and they can fly under any condition. In some myths and legends, they're even said to be the mount of gods. Looks like they're not exaggerations."

Shien gave his appreciations, which made the griffon cry out proudly and fly even faster.

Shien blasted forth with speed incomparable to before and in half a minute, he had left the forest and entered the wide plains.

After entering the plains, Shien started seeing some humanoid figures.

Those seem to be people hurrying on a number of artificially made roads.

Some of them are riding carriages, and some are riding horses. They seem to be merchants or something, and some looked like soldiers or knights.

In certain corners of the plains, Shien could even vaguely see several ranches and farms.

However, the griffon's appearance seemed to have caused some reactions. It seemed to have scared the people below and caused a lot of commotion. Some of the soldiers and knights have raised their bows to defend against a sudden attack from the griffon.

But they probably never saw that there was a person on the griffon's back.

Shien kind of wanted to go down and have a chat with the people below.

But, showing up like this with a demonic beast will probably end up with him receiving unnecessary hostility.

"I wonder how the people from this world see demonic beasts. It's probably better to be a bit cautious."

If he ended up getting attacked because he was with a demonic beast, then that really wouldn't be worth it.

"Let's head for the town first."

Shien suppressed his wish to descent and instead made such a decision.

Thankfully, the town soon appeared before Shien's eyes.

The town itself seemed to take up a good amount of space.

The town is surrounded but a high wall, and there are a bunch of figures moving about on top of it. Those should be soldiers and knights doing patrol and guard work.

"Alright, let's land nearby."

Shien made the decision.

Otherwise, the moment they discovered a demonic beast closing in, the people on the walls will definitely attack right away so as to keep the demonic beast from entering the town.

"Kewl!"

The griffon gave out a cry and smoothly descended.

Not long after, the griffon reached an empty place to let Shien jump off from its back.

"You've worked hard." Shien have the griffon's head a pat and quietly spoke: "Alright, you can go back now."

Hearing that, the griffon didn't obey though. Instead it kept calling at Shien.

"What? Do you really still want to continue?"

Shien hesitated a moment, and then he laughed.

"That really is a shame though. From now on I'm going to go into the human town, and there's no way I can take you with me, so there's no way for me to let you keep enjoying it. So you should go back after all."

Shien told the griffon like so.

It's unknown whether the griffon understood Shien's words or not, but after calling at Shien several times, it finally stared at Shien with dissatisfaction for some time. After some time, it finally gave one last cry, flapped its wings, and flew back into the sky.

That griffon hovered in the sky above Shien for some time before it finally gave a piercing cry and few off.

Shien thus watched the griffon leave. Only until it had completely vanished into the horizon did he finally turn around and look towards the town in the distance.

"Another world, here I come."

With those words, Shien finally finally stepped onward with some impatience towards that town.
