The Devoted Second Male Lead Decided to Favor Someone Else Chapter 15.3

Genius Artist - Replacement of the White Moonlight for the Rich CEO

“Pull it down and see.” Lu Shijin indicated for Huo Lian to take the cloth off.

Huo Lian followed his instructions. Pulling it off, he saw that it was an oil painting.

The night sky and the dark ocean seemed to be blending together, and under the moonlight, two people were walking together. Their parallel tracks of footprints were very clear on the sand.

The painting’s premise was ordinary, but its delicate strokes and precise colouring made it stand out. The stars were reflected on the ocean, the sky and land becoming one was very awe-inspiring.

Even more shocking was the beach, which seemed like it was covered by a layer of moonlight, glittering and glowing.

“What is this?” Huo Lian didn’t really understand how to appreciate art, but he could feel that it was a very good painting.

Lu Shijin pointed at the painting, saying, “This is the island we went to last time, did you forget? We took a stroll by the seaside on the second night?

“So these two are?

Lu Shijin stated, “Me, you.”

Huo Lian fell silent. He didn’t expect that Lu Shijin would paint them together. He wasn’t sure how to feel.

Huo Lian didn’t like to have photos taken, much less photos with others. After all, no one liked to be involved with illegitimate children.

Up until six years of age, Huo Lian had not taken a single photo with his father. So, on his sixth birthday, he asked his father for a photo together.

But he was criticized by his father, who said that he wasn’t paying attention to his studies, always thinking of useless things.

From that point on, Huo Lian had started disliking taking photos.

Lu Shijin suddenly said, “Can I give this painting to Huo Qi?”

His heart, which had just begun warming up, instantly froze again.

Huo Lian silently stared at Lu Shijin for a while, only to see a heartless smile on his face.

“Whatever.” Huo Lian opened the study door and left.

Lu Shijin hooked his lips up, quickly catching up to Huo Lian.

“You seem a bit unhappy?”

Huo Lian firmly denied, “No.”

“Yes.” Lu Shijin followed him into the bedroom, pushing him onto the bed and sitting on him, “Are you unhappy because I said I was going to give the painting to Huo Qi? Don’t worry, I won’t give it to him for free. If he wants it, then he obviously needs to pay for it.”

Huo Lian ignored Lu Shijin’s actions. Coincidentally, Lu Shijin’s phone rang. Lu Shijin went over to the nightstand to pick it up.

Talk of the devil, the caller was Huo Qi.

Lu Shijin waved his phone at Huo Lian, letting him know that it was Huo Qi who called, before he took the call.

Huo Qi gently greeted him. “Shijin, did you sleep?”

“Not yet, it’s so late, why’d you call?”

“The paintings I told you about this afternoon . . . What do you think?”

Lu Shijin rolled his eyes. It seemed like Ruan Siheng was in a hurry, unable to wait past midnight, which is why Huo Qi called.

“Oh, the paintings?” Lu Shijin looked at Huo Lian. “I do have some, but I forgot to tell you something. My most recent artworks have all been sold to a collector. He said that he really liked my art and bought all of them.

Huo Qi was speechless for a moment. He couldn’t believe that there would be a collector blind enough to buy some unknown person’s art.

“How much did he offer? I can pay more than him.”

Huo Lian extended five fingers, and Lu Shijin immediately said, “Five million.”

Huo Qi: . . . Isn’t this way too exorbitant?

Lu Shijin pretended to apologize, “Sorry husband, I shouldn’t bring money up to you. However, this five million is really important to me. Didn’t I say I want to study overseas? This sum of money would be enough for me to fulfill my dream.”

Huo Qi was a bit angry, but he couldn’t do anything. Ruan Siheng had clearly expressed that he wanted Lu Shijin’s art. No matter how angry he was, he had to get it for him.

Or else, how could he lift his head in front of Ruan Siheng in the future if he couldn’t even accomplish such a simple task.

“No worries, I understand.” Huo Qi gritted his teeth. “Eight million, I’ll give eight million, just give them to me.”

Lu Shijin suddenly exclaimed. Huo Lian, this bastard, started acting like a hooligan, putting his hands in inappropriate places. In his ear, Huo Lian whispered, “Who did you just call ‘husband,’ huh?”

Unable to show his anger, Lu Shijin could only glare at Huo Lian. He was just too used to calling Huo Qi that!

Thankfully, Huo Qi didn’t suspect anything. Lu Shijin quickly followed up, “Isn’t that too much?”

Huo Qi could only laugh dryly. “It’s fine, giving you my money is just taking it from one pocket to another, what difference is there between yours and mine.”

What a scum man, calculating the account so clearly.

Lu Shijin said, “Then . . . I’ll ask that collector tomorrow if we can cancel the transaction, and give you an answer tomorrow?”

Huo Qi agreed, and the two bid each other goodnight before hanging up.

And by this time, Lu Shijin had pretty much been stripped bare by Huo Lian and was ready to go.

Lu Shijin uncerimoniously raised his foot to kick him, “Shit, try to control your heat, will you? If Huo Qi found out, the eight million would be gone!”

Huo Lian easily blocked the kick. “I helped you set a ground price for your eight million, how much are you gonna give me?”

Lu Shijin raised an eyebrow and asked in dissatisfaction. “I’m helping you fight for the Huo family’s property, how much are you preparing to give me?”

Huo Lian pinned the person underneath him down with a dark gaze, smiling with false gentleness. “That naturally depends on your performance.”
