Scarlet Rose [ABO] - What Happens When the Villain Dies at the Beginning? (16)

The butler cried out, “Then what should we do?”

Prime Minister Lu adjusted up his uniform, “Prepare the car. I’m going into the palace to ask his Majesty to save him.”

But as he took a step, he hesitated and suddenly realized something.

“That little prince is really shrewd!”

The butler didn’t understand. “What do you mean?”

Prime Minister Lu’s expression turned bad as he muttered to himself, “He came over the moment he got back. My son was captured, so his Majesty would definitely wonder if I felt resentful, or even become dissatisfied with him because of that, and betray him with Payne. After all, our Emperor is really paranoid. What a great play this is!”

The butler still didn’t understand anything. “What do you mean?”

Prime Minister Lu sneered, “I underestimated him. I didn’t expect that the kitten would become a tiger so soon.”

“Then are you still going to the palace?” The butler asked.

Prime Minister Lu fell silent.

The news that Payne visited him must have made it to Neptune’s ears already.

If he went to the palace to beg Neptune to save his son right now, it would be alright if he agreed, but if he didn’t, then the rift between them would only increase.

He had been the Prime Minister for ten years. It was unlikely that Neptune had never suspected him of anything.

Payne’s actions were equivalent to planting a seed of distrust between the Prime Minister and Emperor, leading to a bomb that could explode at any given time.

Payne didn’t report to the palace after he left the Lu home and directly returned to his manor.

By noon, Neptune’s chamberlain came to personally invite Payne to the palace, but was coldly rejected.

Payne directly threw Rondon to the chamberlain and told him to bring him to Neptune. If he wanted to know what happened, he could just ask Rondon.

His attitude made it clear that he was opposing Neptune.

But with him acting in such a way, Neptune couldn’t act rashly.

There were so many eyes watching. If something happened to the crown prince, the Emperor would be the largest suspect.

Payne had been in a tense state for a long time and had been depending on nutrient solutions to maintain his strength. However, no matter how strong an Alpha was, they still needed actual food.

Deep into the night, Payne was still worried about Lu Shijin, but his body couldn’t endure it and he finally fell into a deep sleep.

A dark figure suddenly dashed past the countless guards and monitors in the mansion snuck into Payne’s room as though he had appeared there out of thin air.

“This instant teleport card is pretty useful.” Lu Shijin stabilized himself and gave 711 his review of this new card, “But don’t you think it’s not scientific? It seems to be more suited for a magical world and not sci-fi interstellar?”

711 calmly said, “Haven’t you heard of the saying? When something’s inexplicable, it’s quantum physics.”

Lu Shijin: . . . What fucking quantum physics!

“But I should thank this card for allowing me to see my little prince.” To prevent anyone from catching him, Lu Shijin was still in Blood Owl’s clothes, wrapped in a black cloak to become one with the shadows in the room.

He walked over to Payne’s bedside and silently appreciated his sleeping face.

Lu Shijin had seen a glimpse of how Payne was when he was angry. Under his warm and harmless exterior was that of a bloodthirsty and cold person.

He was like an Alpha worthy of becoming an Emperor.

But the current Payne was sleeping quietly. Long and thick eyelashes cast shadows over his cheeks, and his brows wrinkled from time to time due to his dreams.

Lu Shijin carefully used a finger to smooth Payne’s wrinkled eyebrows and used his gentlest voice to say, “Rest well my prince, we’ll meet again soon.”

He took out a rose and placed it next to Payne’s pillow, looking at his masterpiece with satisfaction.

Roses were best paired with princes.

Lu Shijin stayed in Payne’s room for a long time. He only left when 711 reminded him that Payne was about to wake.

Just as he got out, a low voice called him to stop.

“Stop! Who are you!”

Lu Shijin casually looked over and was not surprised to see Maupay.

Maupay was on duty tonight and was surprised to see a familiar mask and cape when he patrolled over, “Blood Owl sir?”

“It’s me.” Lu Shijin continued walking out, “We’ll talk outside.”

Maupay brought Lu Shijin to a corner of the garden with no surveillance and respectfully asked, “Are you looking for me? You could have sent a message.”

Lu Shijin didn’t clear up the misunderstanding. He couldn’t say that he came here to visit his Highness’s boudoir at night and was accidentally discovered by Maupay.

“You used Rondon as a scapegoat to wash yourself clean, good job. Payne should have no suspicion toward you now.”

“Nothing gets past you.”

Maupay still felt guilty for betraying Payne, but didn’t dare to show it in front of Blood Owl.

“Make sure to properly protect Payne. I’ll instruct you on what the next step is later.”

Maupay didn’t dare to ask any further and answered mechanically, “Yes.”

“Then go, I’ll be leaving.”

“Do you need me to show you out? There are sensors all around.”

Lu Shijin chuckled behind his mask, “Do you think those things are a challenge for me?”

Maupay stared dumbly when Blood Owl suddenly disappeared into the darkness like a ghost. He couldn’t return to his senses for a long time.

He didn’t notice that there was a figure standing in front of the bedroom window on the second floor behind him. The figure was holding a rose in his hand and staring thoughtfully out the window.
