56. Katariona Realizes Once Again the Horror of “Forbidden Magic”

The day after the magic attribute judgment, I held a joint birthday party with my brother and sister, which had been postponed. My brother and I have the same birthday, and May was also born on the same day. It may be a coincidence, but it’s extremely rare for three siblings to share the same birthday.

We decided to have an informal party, inviting family and Chris.

I wanted to make a birthday cake, but Marie stopped me, saying that I was the star of the birthday party. Marie worked hard all morning to make the cake, decorating it full of fruits, which looked gorgeous.

“Even so, it’s unusual for all of them to have the same birthday.”

Chris mumbled as she ate her share of the cake in admiration.

“We get to celebrate together, though, which makes it more fun.” (TL: darn I wanted to say funner)

People often ask me, “Isn’t it more fun to have different birthdays in order to have three separate parties?” But I find it more fun to celebrate everyone at the same time.

“Now that everyone has gathered, I have something to discuss.”

After finishing his food and cake, Leon suddenly announced.

“What do you want to talk about?”

“Before we start, set up a barrier.”

Tojurou-san didn’t accompany us but instead waited at the estate for Kikuno-sama to return from Hinoshima.

Tojurou-san taught us how to use barrier magic, so my brother, Chris, and I can also use it.

However, this territory is the royal capital, not my own, so I can’t use barrier magic. It should be okay because it’s an application of Sacred Magic, but I want to avoid anything dangerous.

As a result of our discussion, Chris agreed to set up the magic barrier.

Before we could put up the magic barrier, cats started to fly out of the space. To be precise, they were gods dressed as cats. Though, Toruka-sama and the God of Time remained as a turtle and dragon.

“C, cute.”

I felt both Chris’s and my hands fidgeting. I couldn’t see it, but I’m sure her mother’s hands were also excited. Mei’s hands were waving, too, as she squealed with delight. She was so happy. Everyone seemed to feel the same way.

The fact that all the gods were here seemed to signal that something important was to be told. It reminded me of the time I told them about my past life.

“Now, let’s set up the barriers. I’m going to start. “Magic Barrier! Wind Wall!”

Leon began to speak now inside Chris’s barrier.

“Now, let’s get down to business. It’s regarding “Forbidden Magic”. We haven’t talked about it in detail. But, “Forbidden Magic” isn’t something that humans can use in the first place. It comes at a price.”

“A price?”

“A soul. You get something in exchange for a soul.”

Flare-sama took over from Leon.

The soul is the source of a person’s vitality, their life source. A contract is made, an exchange of life force and the magical power of Forbidden Magic.

“What happens to the soul of the person who uses Forbidden Magic?”

“They disappear, never to be reborn again.”

I understand the disadvantages of using Forbidden Magic. It’s a tremendous price to pay.

Did those who used forbidden magic in the Dark Ages aware of the price to pay? And what about Charlotte?

“Then……Charlotte in her previous life…….”

“It’s reasonable to think that her soul disappeared after death.”

The Charlotte of my previous life probably had her soul extinguished after death. This means that she has already been judged for framing me.

“Rio, you’re not feeling sorry for Charlotte now, are you?”

Chris stared at me with a piercing gaze. This is the kind of thing that makes her worthy of being a monarch, even at such a young age.

“I’m not pitying her. I just wish that she had remained non-attributed.”

Chris shrugged her shoulders.

“You’re too kind, Rio. But that’s one of the things I like about you.”

Everyone in the room nodded their heads in agreement with Chris. Let’s change the subject before they get any worse.

“By the way, Leon. Why does the God of Creation continue to be reborn as a human being?”

“You mean the God of Creation who turned into a human to nullify Forbidden Magic?”

I nodded in reply to Leon’s question.

“The magic that the God of Creation used to nullify magic is also forbidden magic.”

“Is there a price to pay for a god to use forbidden magic?”

“The God of Creation himself placed the price on himself to be reincarnated as a human being until Forbidden Magic, which was inherited by Charlotte ceases to exist, and as long as it does, he cannot return to being a god.”

“So, does that mean that the God of Creation keeps reincarnating as a human being for all time with the memories of being a God?”

What a long and lonely journey that is!

“It’ s a little different. Do you remember the first time you met Kikuno?”

“Ah!”

A god who has transformed into a human will not regain his divine memory or power until he has completed his lifespan.

“It seems that Kikuno regained her divine memory and power by meeting the deity of Hinoshima, but that is a rare occurrence. The only time the God of Creation can regain his divine memory is when the Forbidden Magic is activated.”

If the Forbidden Magic is not exercised, the God of Creation would have lived out his life as a normal human being. However, it must still be a lonely journey.

“There’s one more thing I need to talk to you about. It’s about Marianne.”

“What about May?”

Speaking of which, I remember him saying that he was going to tell me about May’s magical properties after the magical attribute judgment.

“Rio and Chris, you both assessed Marianne’s magical properties, correct?”

“Yes, we did. But it popped up as “unidentifiable”.”

No matter how many times we tried, the result was the same. I tried to evaluate May, but the result was still unidentifiable.

“But we, the gods, know.”

“What do you know? May’s magical attributes? What exactly are her magical attributes?”

When I looked at May, she smiled innocently at me. Her innocent smile seemed to encourage me saying, “Don’t worry, Sister.”

“Marianne is the reincarnation of the God of Creation.”

The next thing Leon told me was shocking.

TL: Wow. There were clues hinting at it, but I didn’t think it was possible. Well yikes, yall. Anyway, I’m sorry for a couple of confusing sections, I’m unsure of whether they are 100% accurate. Also, I’m sorry for any inconsistent patches from this chapter and previous ones, especially regarding the magic spell words. Anyway, happy reading, and I hoped you enjoyed it.
