Katariona Dives Into the Dungeon (Part 2)

I accompanied Sylphy-sama and Ron-sama, who had defeated the floor’s boss in less than ten minutes, and descended to the lowest level.

There are dungeons where there is no light at all, and there are dungeons where there is light everywhere. This dungeon is the former.

Humans are instinctively afraid of the dark. Subconsciously, I try to light my fingers.

However, dragons, who have excellent senses, have no need for light, and Sylphy-sama and Ron-sama smoothly descended ahead of me.

Leon, the god, and Kikuno-sama, the former god, showed no fear of the dark either.

“Gods are all-powerful, I suppose.”

“Tojurou-sensei, has your nausea subsided yet?”

“Ahh. Yes, Yurie’s herbs did wonders.”

I mixed up some herbs that I had brought to help Tojurou-san, who was suffering from nausea to the point where he couldn’t even eat a rice ball, to help suppress his nausea. 

I had filled my space with various medicinal herbs that Chris and I had grown in the greenhouse.

Some of the herbs were effective against injuries, though they couldn’t be used universally like the healing effects of Sacred Magic.

If it was just Chris and my brother, I could utilize Healing, but presumably, there would be some other students on the team. I can’t use my light magic carelessly. However, if their lives were at stake, I would have no choice but to use it.

“Yurie, try to do what I taught you before, see with your mind’s eye.”

I extinguished the light from my fingers and closed my eyes.

It is said that every living thing emits a kind of chi.

It can be an indistinct light, a haze, or any other form of chi.

I see this kind of chi in colors.

All the gods are a divine gold color. However, humans are the most difficult to grasp due to their various attributes.

But a monster is a thick black color.

The first time we were assigned to this training of seeing with the mind’s eye, Chris and I were thrown into a dark cave by Tojurou-san.

Searching for their chi again, Chris and the others seemed to be moving away from the black creature, the monster.

It’s difficult to search for chi in the midst of light. Because we rely on our eyesight.

But in this kind of darkness, we can concentrate and it’s effective.

Sylphy-sama and Ron-sama seem to be moving quickly. It looked like they would soon reach Chris and the others.

Before we arrived, the monsters that had appeared looked like they had been defeated by Sylphy-sama and Ron-sama already.

We followed their tracks before they reappeared, and we finally reached Chris and his friends.

The big black monster was a snake-type monster called Basilisk.

A basilisk’s fangs are poisonous, and you also have to watch out for its eyes. When its eyes flashed, anyone who faced it would be petrified.

Sylphy-sama was confronting the basilisk by herself. Quickly, Tojurou-san drew his sword and went to help her. I ran up to Chris and my brother.

“Chris! Big brother! I’m glad you’re okay!”

“Rio, you came!”

Chris hugged me.

“I’m going to join master. Rio, you take care of him.”

“Brother, be careful!”

My brother also drew his sword and headed towards the basilisk.

“By the way, what about the others?”

“A black hooded man took them outside with his transference magic. Sieg and I can contribute to the war effort, so we can stay. Who was that? Who is that guy?”

“Sylphy-sama’s husband. He says his name is Ron-sama.”

“To be precise, his name is Fan Long the Glittering Dragon.”

At the same time, a nearby magic circle glowed, and Ron-sama appeared.

“Sylphy! His eyes are glowing. Watch out!”

A red light flashed in the darkness. Is that the eye of the basilisk?

Leon covered Chris and me. Before we knew it, he seemed to have changed into his lion form.

I squeezed my eyelids shut.

As I gently opened my eyes, I saw something stirring in the darkness, coming towards me.

The basilisk had changed its aim.

“That’s gonna be a nuisance. If only we could destroy that eye. ……”

Ron-sama clucked his tongue.

“If we can destroy the eye, can we get rid of it?”

“Oh. Do you have a way?”

I quickly rose to my feet.

“Rio!”

“It will be fine, Leon. Take care of Chris for me.”

I confronted the basilisk, who narrowed his eyes surreptitiously.

Just before the eyes glowed, I quickly formulated my magic power.

“Sacred Creation Magic: Torrent of Light!”

Dazzling light surged through the floors. Like a raging river, the light engulfed the basilisk.

When the light subsides, the eyes of the basilisk on the ground are destroyed. The light had burned out both of his red eyes.

The basilisk slammed its long torso into the ground in agony.

“Yurie, well done!”

The wind blade that Tojurou-san and Brother released severed the basilisk’s body.

With a final scream, the basilisk died.

The drop items fell to the ground. Skins and fangs. Drop items fall from the monsters in the dungeon.

“The combination of Sacred Magic and Creation Magic? Brilliant.”

Ron-sama applauded. Sylphy-sama embraced me and kissed me on the cheek.

“It’s my own signature move.”

Neither of my two attributes has many techniques that are skilled at attacking, but when I combined them, I was able to create several magic techniques that were specialized for attacks. I doubt I’ll ever use them in public, though.

“Now, the request has been fulfilled. Do you want to go outside?”

Sylphy-sama hugged me and pointed to the transfer magic circle.

“What about the dropped items? You defeated it. Take it with you. You should take them with you. I’m sure they’ll fetch a good price.”

Ron-sama picked up the items and presented them to us.

We gathered together to discuss it. As a representative of the group, Kikuno-sama announced that we would decline the offer.

“I appreciate the sentiment, but since we are the ones who have been helped, please keep the dropped items.”

If Sylphy-sama and Ron-sama hadn’t come, we wouldn’t have been able to reach the lowest level so quickly. Above all, I am inexperienced in the use of transference magic. I don’t have the power to transfer everyone.

“I’m glad that the adventurers who came to the rescue were you. Thank you for helping the people of this country.”

Leon bowed to them.

“Hmmm. The forest god has become soft. Weren’t you pricklier before?”

Ron-sama looked at Leon with a grin.

“I’ve always been like this. Aren’t you the one with the mean streak?”

“Oh. It’s a good thing you have Yurie. Good for you, Leon << … >>. Don’t you ever let her go again.”

This time he grinned at me with a smile.

“Wha-! Who do you think you are!? Stop looking at her like that! You’ll taint her!”

Leon was peeved.

“We’ll leave the idiots behind and go back to the land, Yurie.”

Sylphy-sama shot a cold look at Ron-sama and Leon-sama, who were still arguing.

“Chris, big brother. You must be hungry. Eat some, if you’d like.”

In the meantime, I took out some rice balls and handed them to Chris and my brother.

Sylphy-sama was also looking at the rice balls as if she wanted to devour them, so I gave her an extra rice ball.
