The New me

Chapter 8

The days had gone by quickly, and it is beginning to get warm.

Next month, summer will officially begin. It is also my birth month, so the mother is busy preparing for the big day. She's planning an intimate yet grandiose dinner for the family and close friends.

Sun rays pass through the leaves of the trees, and a light wind blows ruffling my hair. I was sitting on the bench after a morning run. My Shirt had been soaked with sweat, and I'm thirsty. I bought me a tumbler filled with water, but I've already drunk it. My legs still sore so I'm resting right now.

Since I am inside our estate, I did not bother looking pretty. I laid down my body, took off my shoes then put my feet up on the armrest. I closed my eyes and dozed off.

It wasn't even ten minutes when I heard a rustling sound along with a few giggles. A shadow was appearing before me. I opened my eyes and was greeted by a familiar face.

Luke Wang.

Truth be told, I think his brother is much better looking than him. If you ask me how I know, it was because I searched for it. No, I did not say he is ugly. He has a nice looking face, a tall height, and good body physique. But his beauty doesn't have that much of appeal like Liam.

"Tired?" He asked. He was smiling at me with an amused face.

'Can't you see?!' I wanted to counter, but I swallowed it back and said "yes.." I got up and made a space for him.

"I can see it, by the way." He cheekily grinned as he sat beside me.

I subconsciously looked down checking my bust area then I heard him laugh. My shirt had dried.

"Not funny," I told him.

"My bad, don't frown." He said, extending his hand to my chin. "Oh, you're not wearing contacts?"

I forgot! As I was home, I did not feel the need to put it on. The maids were cleaning when I went out, so they did not say anything.

"I took it off when I laid down." I lied. I felt my scalp itch.

"That's bad. Where did you put your contact lenses? You won't tell me you've lost them, right?." He probed.

"It was here." I turned left and right. "Crap, they're gone." I looked at him with moist eyes.

He flicked my forehead lightly saying "Bad girl. Come here." And Luke held my hand.

Do I need to be embarrassed as we are holding hands? Or do I need to act lovingly?

I feel like I should act angry. This guy freaking flicked my forehead with full force!

I slightly pulled my hand away from him.

He sighed and said, "Fine. Stand still first." He crouched down and picked up my shoes. He tapped my right foot and said: "Lift it up a bit, I'll help you wear them."

"I'm not a child," I whined.

"But you're——, forget it. Let's go. I'll guide you on your way." He pulled me close to him, he let go of my hand but kept walking close beside me.

But you're blind. That's what Luke meant. Having interacted with him face to face, I feel that he really is concerned with this body's general well being. Though there were few times he acted sweetly, he also made an impression of a good older brother.

He and this body must have known each other for years.

"How did you know it was me by the way?" Just when I thought our conversation's over, he suddenly asked.

"Voice." I blurted out. It was plausible. I don't dare look straight at his face though.

He nodded. "Before I forgot, here you go." He gave me the paper bag he'd been holding for a while.

"What's is it?" I reached out and looked inside.

"Your presents."

That was what he said then bid goodbye.

The bag contains chocolates, a penguin figurine, and a necklace. It was a white diamond silver sterling pendant necklace. The pendant was shaped like a key, and the bow part was like a four leaf clover.

This scenario was the part where the girl feels her heart beating faster as he thought the guys' sincerity. Then she'll put meaning into the presents she received. The chocolates are signs of his affection. The penguin figurine meant he only sees you and will only have you for a lifetime. The necklace is the key to his heart. The four leaf clover represents his wish for that love to flourish always.

Well, those kinds of scenarios were seen in dramas. I can't guarantee it in real life, but I am not feeling anything other than my forehead. There is a small bump where he flicked.

Who the hell ask him to do it?! Did This body suffer the same treatment before?

I put on ice to reduce the swelling. I'm hoping it'll go away soon.

Let's meet again he said. Tsk, as if! After what you've done!?

My monologue lasted for a good fifteen minutes as I voiced out my frustrations. To keep myself entertained, I decided to watch tv. As it may, the scene playing right of this moment is a romance between the main leads. It was beautifully depicted. There was no skin showing, just their silhouettes. I was engrossed with it when my phone lit up.

It was a notification from a social media. It says that 'heraLiLy' posted a picture.

So I opened it.

The first picture is a selfie. Lily's make up is on point, and she looks so foxy. The next one is a black and white picture of her with one hand covering one eye as she smiles. In her caption, it was written that she's happy. She put on a hashtag 'thank you brother' then tagged the person.

Once again, it was Luke Wang.

Can't believe that I saw him in the morning then will see him again right now, although, on social media. My forehead throbbed.

The point of the second picture is to show off her bracelet. It has three four-leaf clovers and presumably made of the same thing as my necklace.

Should I take some pictures and post it too? I wondered. It wasn't my style, so I sent it to him as a personal message. I thanked him for his gifts and thanked him again for his care.
