Chapter 111 Happy Weekend

During the Spring Festival in February, the crew had a ten-day break, and Yin Chang went back to Hai Cheng.

For the first time in eight years, Shao Junling did not spend the New Year with them. Their home felt a bit empty, and even Fiona's busy figure in the kitchen appeared lonely.

She first served Yin Chang a bowl of cream of mushroom soup, "Hey, have some soup first." Seeing that Yin Chang had lost weight this time he came back, Fiona felt heartbroken.

Yin Chang took a sip and felt that the taste was dull.

Sitting next to him, Fiona asked, "Is everything okay with Junling over there? You and your brother have not been separated for so many years. You must miss him a lot. That child can't bear to be without you, so make sure to call him more often when you have time..."

Perhaps she was getting old; Fiona rarely talked so much, repeating the same things several times.

Patiently, Yin Chang responded a few times before he smelled a pungent burning smell and furrowed his brow, "Is somethingl burning in the kitchen?"

Fiona jumped up and ran towards the kitchen in a hurry, "Ah, I also baked a chicken pie!" Immediately after, there was a sound of Fiona blaming herself and feeling regretful from the kitchen, "Ah, my memory is getting worse and worse..."

Yin Chang put down the ladle and stared absentmindedly at Fiona's hunched figure. He didn't realize when she had started to stoop.

He didn't have much of an appetite, but to make Fiona happy, he tried his best to eat more.

After dinner, Yin Chang went back to his room and called the family doctor to inquire about Fiona's most recent medical check-up. From the doctor, he learned that Fiona was already sixty years old this year.

"Mr. Yin, did you discover that there is something wrong with Fiona's health?" the doctor asked.

"Besides having a bad memory, I haven't found anything wrong for the time being."

"Poor memory... What kind of symptoms is she showing?"

"She forgot to add salt to the soup she made today, forgot that there was something in the oven baking, and forgot to take out the trash from the elevator yesterday..." Yin Chang took this problem seriously not because he thought Fiona couldn't cook, but because he was afraid that her forgetfulness would cause safety issues when he was not at home. "Also, she's been mumbling to herself a lot lately. She repeats the same sentence many times. She used to be quite reserved."

"Mumbling to herself could be her realizing that her memory is failing, so she speaks to remind herself of what she needs to do... How long has this symptom lasted?"

"I only came back from the set two days ago, so I don't know how long this symptom has been present."

"Okay, please pay attention to it and after the holiday, I'll contact Ms. Lu to bring her in for a full check-up."

Yin Chang hung up the phone, feeling absent-minded. He had always thought that Fiona had a sturdy physique and still had a while until retirement. Over the years, he only focused on watching Shao Junling grow up, and he didn't realize that Fiona was aging.

With heavy thoughts, Yin Chang went to the study and saw Shao Junling's clean and tidy desk and bookshelf. He couldn't remember why he came in here in the first place.

He sat on Shao Junling's bed and stayed there for a long time before finally remembering that the doctor had asked him to look for Fiona's medical examination records - they were all kept inside one of the drawers in the study for documents.

He chuckled speechlessly, feeling like he might have also developed memory loss like Fiona.

Later, he went back to the bedroom and saw several new messages in WeChat. Most of them were New Year's greetings, and a few were invitations to hang out.

Yin Chang didn't feel like going out, so he opened his friends' moments to see their New Year's updates. While scrolling through them, he suddenly noticed a post from Shao Junling who hardly ever posted anything: "Happy weekend~"

The photo posted was a picture of a bar party. There were men and women, Chinese people and foreign people. Shao Junling was at the lower left corner of the photo, leaning on the sofa, holding a cocktail, not looking at the camera.

Yin Chang's sharp eyes noticed that one hand of a woman was resting on Shao Junling's knee but the owner of the hand was not shown in the picture, but the hand clearly belonged to a woman.

Yin Chang's heart felt squeezed, and he stared at the post for a long time. The status was sent four hours ago at dawn in Los Angeles.

...Wasn't it late? Did he stay out all night?

Shao Junling had a very regular routine, and had never stayed out all night before.

He had also said that he didn't like drinking, but he was drinking in the photo...

Shao Junling had not liked others touching him since he was fifteen years old... so who was the girl who put her hand on his knee?

...

Like all parents who see their children deviate from the right path for the first time, Yin Chang's mind was filled with all sorts of worries and speculations, but unlike normal parents, Yin Chang also felt a sourness in his heart that he shouldn't have.

Participating in social parties after class was his own suggestion, but he felt unhappy when he saw it happening for real. Yin Chang was annoyed by his conflicting emotions and hesitated before finally liking Shao Junling's post. He then threw his phone aside.

After lying in bed for a while, he realized that he couldn't let himself continue feeling depressed like a "bereaved elder," so he opened his phone again and scrolled through the previous WeChat messages that had invited him to go out and have fun.

He came across a message.

Bai Xiaozhi: "Are you in Hai Cheng? Come out and drink and sing together if you're free."

Yin Chang replied: "Send me the location, I'll come."

In recent years, Bai Xiaozhi and Jia Siqi had developed quite well and were now well-known stars. Of course, they couldn't have done it without Yin Chang's help and connections, as their manager had said before. After knowing each other for many years, they already sincerely regarded Yin Chang as a brother and good friend.

Yin Chang drove to the KTV Bai Xiaozhi mentioned. As soon as he entered, he heard a burst of cheers.

"Oh oh oh~~! Yin Chang is here!"

"What a rare guest! The moon has risen from the west today!"

"How did the big star decide to come today? We can't usually invite you out!"

In the past few years since entering the entertainment circle, Yin Chang's personal life was as clean as a white paper. Those who knew him well knew that he rarely attended such parties, so they were all surprised to see him there.

Surrounded by people, Yin Chang sat down in the middle and chatted with Bai Xiaozhi next to him. Then a young girl squeezed over from the side, "Brother Yin Chang." The girl had dyed her hair golden brown and looked lively and delicate.

Bai Xiaozhi introduced Yin Chang to her, "Alisa, the new rising female star from the YOU LE girl group competition this year. She sings and dances well, and she's only nineteen this year..." He then raised his eyebrows at Yin Chang and teased, "She really likes you. She asked me to introduce you guys several times."

After hearing Bai Xiaozhi's words, Alisa looked at him gratefully and then turned to Yin Chang, "Brother Yin Chang, I really like you!"

Yin Chang smiled and lightly touched her cup with his own, with ice cubes making a crisp sound inside his glass. "Hello."

Alisa looked at Yin Chang, "Do you have a girlfriend?"

The straightforward question almost made Bai Xiaozhi spit out his drink. However, everyone else in the room who heard it began to make a commotion and gather around to watch.

Yin Chang replied, "No."

Alisa blinked her eyes twice, "What kind of girl do you like?"

Yin Chang smiled, "It's hard to say."

This look encouraged Alisa, and she leaned into Yin Chang more, but instead of making a bold move, her expression remained innocent, like a girl next door. "Then, how about someone like me? Would you consider it?"

Yin Chang glanced at her, and then said, "I don't like girls who are too aggressive."

Alisa quietly withdrew her hand, pouted innocently and asked, "Why not?"

Yin Chang chuckled and was about to say something when the room suddenly burst with loud background music. Someone had requested a hot dance song to be played.

Yin Chang was afraid that Alisa wouldn't be able to hear him, so he took her round shoulders and leaned her petite body against his chest, and whispered something in her ear.

Alisa felt her entire body burning up, and her brain went blank.

As soon as Yin Chang finished speaking, he let go of her, leaving Alisa with a mind that had crashed, sitting there with a red face.

After the party ended, Bai Xiaozhi went home with Yin Chang's driver.

"What did you say to Alisa? Tonight, both of her eyes were almost glued to you. She was so infatuated and resentful..." Bai Xiaozhi laughed.

He seemed to know that Alisa didn't stand a chance. Over the years, he had tried to set up Yin Chang with many women, but Yin Chang refused every time.

However, this time, Yin Chang's way of rejecting was somewhat different from his usual courteous and gentlemanly manners. Especially the way he spoke to Alisa with his arm around her, it was a bit wicked and frivolous... With Yin Chang's looks and temperament, it was already irresistible, but doing such suggestive actions, it was like he was deliberately teasing people.

Yin Chang sat in the back seat with his eyes closed, "I told her that when it comes to love, I prefer to chase."

Bai Xiaozhi wondered: "Um, but I remember that you were chased by others in your previous relationships, right?"

When Yin Chang participated in "Idol Face to Face", his past love life before his debut was revealed, so Bai Xiaozhi still remembered it.

"That was all ancient history," Yin Chang raised his eyelids slightly, feeling helpless. "It's just that passive relationships never end well, so now I don't want to be passive anymore."

Bai Xiaozhi laughed, "No wonder. But if that's the case, then your admirers will misunderstand you. They will think that you are more passive in love, so they will become even more enthusiastic."

Yin Chang: "..."

After arriving home, Yin Chang took off his coat and washed his face. Then he heard Xiaoling's voice coming from the bedside table, "Brother, brother, brother..."

Yin Chang walked over and saw Xiaoling was on and calling out with a "0_0" expression on its face.

He looked at the time and realized that it was already two o'clock in the morning. How could this thing turn on and call him "brother" in the middle of the night?

Yin Chang walked over and picked it up. "What's wrong with you? Is it broken?"

Xiaoling said, "Brother, you're back! A_A"

Yin Chang asked, "How did you know I was outside? Wait, why can you turn on by yourself now? What did Shao Junling do to you?"

Xiaoling said, "Because tonight when I recited the poem to you, you didn't respond or say goodnight to me, I assumed you went out. So, I automatically turn on every half hour to confirm if you've arrived home safely."

Yin Chang: "..."

Xiaoling said, "Brother, you came home very late tonight. But it's okay, I'll still recite a poem for you..."

Yin Chang put Xiaoling back, "Okay okay, I love you. I'm sleepy tonight, so you don't have to recite it."

Xiaoling said, "Not enough."

Yin Chang: "Huh?"

Xiaoling said, "Starting from eleven o'clock, I've automatically turned on every hour to recite poems. I've already recited three times now. Brother, you have to say the passcode three times."

Yin Chang: "..."
