Chapter 84 Xing Jianan

Last year, shortly after participating in the BG watch endorsement audition, Yin Chang had told Yao Manhuai about the few pieces of information he had found, including the uncontactable phone number belonging to someone with the surname Xing, and how he had tried to probe Shao Junling but got no response.

At the time, Yin Chang didn't expect Shao Junling to remember anything that happened before he was five years old. Additionally, Yao Manhuai had already used every possible avenue and method to investigate Shao Junling's background, but had found nothing. Yin Chang didn't hold out much hope.

However, they both believed that Shao Junling was most likely the illegitimate child of Yin Dong and an unknown woman. Maybe Yin Dong chose to conceal the truth to avoid damaging his reputation. But they never expected such a shocking revelation to come to light.

If Shao Junling was indeed the son of Shao Rong and Shi Yunxia, then he wasn't Yin Dong's biological child at all.

In that case, why did Yin Dong choose to adopt Shao Junling? Was it just because the child resembled him?

But none of this mattered to Yin Chang. Since Yin Dong had chosen Shao Junling and decided to give him as a gift to Yin Chang, he would accept him as his brother regardless of whether Shao Junling was the son of a murderer or a rapist.

"I don't want to take this risk," Yin Chang said to Yao Manhuai, his tone firm.

Yao Manhuai pondered to herself and said, "I know you don't want Shao Junling to be hurt...but we can't be sure that the paparazzi can provide evidence that proves Shao Junling is Shao Jun."

"What do you mean?" Yin Chang asked.

"I just said, this could be a trap," Yao Manhuai pointed to the information in Yin Chang's hand, "It says here that Shao Jun disappeared from Shixi Village seven years ago. What did he do during that one year period when he was four to five years old? How did he go from being Shao Jun in Shixi Village to Shao Junling in Jingxue Welfare House? If the paparazzi can't explain this point, then their blackmail is useless to us."

Yin Chang furrowed his brow. "But the photo in dad's study can prove that Shao Junling is Shao Jun."

"Have the paparazzi seen that photo in your hand?" Yao Manhuai asked.

Yin Chang paused. "No."

"Exactly," Yao Manhuai nodded. "Anything I couldn't find last year, I don't believe the paparazzi could find it just by going to Shixi Village. If it were really that easy to find, then there wouldn't be just one person coming to blackmail us."

Yin Chang nodded. She was right.

"So what should we do now?" he asked.

"Don't worry," Yao Manhuai said confidently. "If there are problems that can be solved with money, then they are not really problems. But before that, we must find a way to investigate this matter ourselves. This way, we can have a bit of an advantage in negotiations. We can't let the paparazzi lead us around by the nose."

That was right. Knowing the enemy and knowing oneself could guarantee a hundred victories. In this respect, Yao Manhuai truly had more experience than anyone else.

"Okay," Yin Chang forced himself to calm down.

"You go back first and quickly find that Xing family's phone number and tell me. It might be a breakthrough," Yao Manhuai said.

When Yin Chang returned home, Shao Junling was already doing his homework in the study.

He walked over quietly and leaned against the bedroom door, watching the little guy's warm face under the desk lamp. A strong desire to protect him suddenly rose in his heart...

It seemed like Shao Junling had sensed him returning, and he twisted his head around, eyes lighting up. He obediently called out, "Brother."

Yin Chang immediately relaxed his brow and walked over with a smile, as he usually did. He rubbed his hair and asked, "Have you finished your homework?"

"Just a little bit left, I'll be done soon." Shao Junling said.

"Once you finish, go play outside for a while. Brother needs to look for something in the study," Yin Chang said calmly.

"Okay, I'll go outside and finish writing it first," Shao Junling said, taking his homework book and going to the table in the living room.

Yin Chang watched him hop away and thought of the information he had seen in Yao Manhuai's hands, feeling a pang of pain in his heart.

If those things were true, it was no wonder Shao Junling didn't want to remember his past...

Yin Chang quickly found Yin Dong's old notebook, sent the phone number Yao Manhuai wanted, and said, "I called, but it was a dead number."

Yao Manhuai replied, "A dead number still has a record of its past users. If I can't find anything, I'll think of another way."

That night, Yao Manhuai used her connections to investigate the previous users of the phone number and actually found someone with the surname Xing, named Xing Jian'an.

With a name, things became much easier. Yao Manhuai continued to search using the police database and found Xing Jian'an's identity, occupation, address, and contact information clearly displayed in front of her.

But what surprised her was that Xing Jian'an's profession was that of a police officer, and he was just a small community police officer in a district in Haicheng. He had worked as an auxiliary police officer in Huatingzhenlu Police Station and had transferred to Qufanglu Police Station as a community police officer three years ago.

...Huatingzhenlu Police Station?

Yao Manhuai was taken aback, suddenly recalling that when they went to register Shao Junling at the Civil Affairs Bureau, they were assisted by a police officer with the surname Liang from Huatingzhenlu Police Station - all this information was recorded by the Civil Affairs Bureau. They had even asked Officer Liang about it later, and he had confidently stated that Shao Junling was a foundling that a passerby discovered next to a trash can.

So why did Yin Dong have Xing Jian'an's phone number in his notebook?

Moreover, it could be determined from the usage time of this phone number account that when Yin Dong had contact with Jingxue Welfare Institute, Xing Jianan officially cancelled this phone number.

After some hesitation, she chose an appropriate time and directly made a phone call to the other party.

After the phone was answered, Yao Manhuai went straight to the point: "Hello, Detective Xing, sorry for the intrusion. My surname is Yao. I am Mr. Yin Dong's former agent and also the legal guardian of Shao Junling."

There was a long silence on the other end of the phone, and finally there was a response: "What's your business?"

The other party's tone was very harsh, even with an obvious guard.

From the information she currently had, Yao Manhuai believed that the other party was most likely the person who knew Shao Junling's true identity.

She took a deep breath and decided to gamble with "honesty": "Detective Xing, I recently received some information about Shao Junling's true background and even received some threats. In order to protect Shao Junling's current lifestyle, I had no choice but to disturb you and ask for some real information to have reasonable countermeasures."

There was silence on the other end again, and just when Yao Manhuai's heart was beating faster, Xing Jianan replied: "Have Yin Dong's son, Yin Chang, come to XXX Road, XX Plaza, Eryuan Tea House tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock with you."

Yao Manhuai was stunned: "Yin Chang?"

Xing Jianan: "Yes." After that, he hung up the phone.

Yao Manhuai didn't understand why Xing Jianan wanted to see Yin Chang and felt uneasy, but in the end, she called Yin Chang and told him about Xing Jianan's request.

"I'll go." Yin Chang agreed without hesitation and even contacted Lu Lingjuan to cancel their arrangement the next day.

The next afternoon, Yin Chang, wearing sunglasses and a mask, went to the tea house mentioned by Xing Jianan with Yao Manhuai.

Yao Manhuai was originally worried that a famous celebrity like Yin Chang appearing in public would cause a stir, but the place was quite hidden, and the two of them felt relieved as soon as they arrived.

Xing Jianan arranged to meet them in a private room. He was a middle-aged man in his forties with a square face, wearing old-fashioned casual clothes, but with a hint of determination in his eyebrows.

After Yin Chang sat down in front of him, he took off his glasses and mask and respectfully said: "Uncle Xing."

Xing Jianan smoked a cigarette and carefully scrutinized them, then took out a device from his pocket and turned it on, placing it on the table.

Yao Manhuai stared at the device with some vigilance, and Xing Jianan explained, "Don't be nervous, I'm just detecting whether you have recording equipment on you."

Yao Manhuai & Yin Chang: "…"

Xing Jianan flicked the ash of his cigarette and asked, "What have you heard?"

Although one of them was the CEO of a celebrity management company, and the other was a celebrity worth over a hundred million, he was not intimidated in the slightest. Instead, his tone seemed like he was interrogating a criminal.

Yao Manhuai took out the information from her bag and handed it to him.

Xing Jianan glanced at it, "How did you find me?"

Yin Chang truthfully told him about finding the old phone number in Yin Dong's notebook.

Xing Jianan nodded, put out his cigarette, and looked at the two of them, "I do know how Shao Jun became Shao Junling, but I promised Yin Dong to keep this secret. You are forcing me to break my oath."

Yin Chang opened his mouth, but was at a loss for words.

It was Yao Manhuai who spoke up immediately, "We are all Shao Junling's relatives and will not harm him."

Xing Jianan glanced at her and said, "With his background, putting him on television, exposing him to the audience, is putting him in danger. You are putting yourself in harm's way."

Yao Manhuai: "…"

Xing Jianan sighed, "But it's not your fault. You really didn't know about his past. If Yin Dong were still alive, he would never have done this."

After being accused by Xing Jianan, Yin Chang couldn't help but clench his fists under the table and feel self-blame.

He gritted his teeth and looked at Xing Jianan, "So, in order to better protect him in the future, I hope Uncle Xing can tell me the truth."

Xing Jianan hesitated for a moment, and his serious expression softened a bit, "Okay, because you are Yin Dong's son, I will make an exception and tell you the truth, but I can only say it verbally, and I can't provide any other evidence."

Yin Chang's eyes lit up, "It doesn't matter."

Xing Jianan said, "I didn't know Yin Dong before. Shao Jun was brought to Haicheng by a little brother of mine in Shixi Town. He's also a police officer. After Shao Jun's parents had that incident, we both felt sorry for this child's identity and experience. Out of sympathy, we decided to conceal his past and establish a new identity for him. But two years ago, my little brother contacted me and said that the top film star Yin Dong suddenly went to the village to find Shao Rong's son and wanted to adopt him. Yin Dong found me through my little brother."

Yin Chang was puzzled, "Why did my dad specially go to the village to adopt Shao Rong's son?"

Xing Jianan looked at Yin Chang and said, "I heard that Shao Rong is your dad's real younger brother."

Ghost of Yin Dong: Tada! I’m back! And the mystery unfolds~ Are you surprised?
