Chapter 31.3: Plead for Mercy

Duanmu Qing arched up an eyebrow as she stared at Si Yun Han with interest.

“Oh? Just what could it be? Let’s hear it.”

Si Yun Han’s eyes flashed slightly with a glint. “In the duel that is set to happen in two days, Yun Han hopes that you can be magnanimous and spare Her Highness Xi.”

The originally cold voice was now tinged with a sliver of plea.

That one statement caused Duanmu Qing’s face that had originally been full of interest to darken in an instant, and the hand holding Si Yun Han’s chin then started to tighten its grip increasingly.

“Do you really like her so much that you would actually come beg me because of her?”

Si Yun Han endured the pain, not daring to make any moves except to carefully explain: “It’s not that….. Yun Han just cannot bear…..”

“Don’t forget your current identity, my primary spouse to be.”

Si Yun Han had not even finished his explanation when Duanmu Qing viciously flung his chin right out of her hand.

Immediately after that, she turned to a female guard watching the southern garden and shouted: “Little Wen, escort the guest out.”

With that order, Duanmu Qing then walked away without even looking back.

[Damn it. Just what is so great about that good for nothing that all the beautiful men under the Heavens were so enamored of her?]

Duanmu Qing’s fists were tightly clenched and her eyes burning with hatred. [She must trample her right into the ground on that day, and completely wreck her.]

Three days passed in a blink.

Today, the Vermillion Bird Arena was filled with a crowd that stretched for a hundred miles, with everyone craning their necks with anticipation, waiting for the parties who were set to take part in the duel to appear.

The moment the Chen Hour arrived, an attendant lit a great big stick of incense. That stick of incense would represent two hours.

Duanmu Qing had already arrived at the Vermillion Bird Arena very early. She was dressed in a suit of bright red clothes, flamboyant and beautiful.

There were many private rooms right above the Vermillion Bird Arena and everyone single one of those rooms were fully occupied. Duanmu Xue with Huangfu Che, Duanmu Fei, Duanmu Xian and the others were all in the biggest private room up on the second floor.

After an hour’s time, Duanmu Xi still had not arrived, causing the spectators waiting below the stage to break out in waves of hushed whispers.

“The incense has already half of it burnt out. I fear that Her Highness the Crown Princess will not be coming.”

“Her Highness the Crown Princess must have gotten cold feet. The Vermillion Bird Arena is not a place you can easily get off from once you set foot onto it.”

“Sigh…. Looks like today’s duel will not be happening.”

“…..”

Duanmu Qing’s eyes stared into the emptiness directly opposite her, and the corners of her lips curled up with a scornful smile.

[Duanmu Xi, you must be scared. No matter whether you are coming here today, I will have your name and reputation tarnished and wrecked.]
