The Rebirth of the Last Days and Return to [Fang] Hao

Zhang Xiaoming held the handfuls of dried vegetables in front of Guo Bing, blinking his eyes which were aimed at Chen Ning: “Boss, this should be put in the space of the deputy leader… Don’t be offended…”

At the end of the discussion, they made a decision. This time Guo Bing will take a few capable people and He Zizhong back to the base, and the rest would wait somewhere outside the base.

He Zizhong promised that if there was an accident, they would at least be able to send news out of the base and discuss even if they were unable to rescue Guo Bing and them smoothly.

Oftentimes, he had to soak some one day in advance. Therefore, the semi-finished products that were barely soaked are a bit hard for him to swallow. But the other people in Samsara ate very beautifully. How can it not be beautiful? Nowadays, the base officially opened a market to buy food. Pickled radishes are sold, but the taste is not very good. After eating too much of such things, everything else is considered the delicacy from the mountains and seas.

Guo Bing announced at the dinner table that one car would return. Chen Ning would lead the remaining people to fight zombies and continue to collect crystal nuclei on the outskirts. Naturally, everyone had no doubts, but the few people who were singled out to follow Guo Bing back, were taken aside and told some things after dinner. Only then did they know that they have to be very careful after going back this time.

The convoy drove another day and returned to a place close to the base. The Samsara team chose a former shopping mall as a temporary place to camp. After cleaning up the nearby zombies, they would wait here for news from Guo Bing and the others. The rest of the people got in Guo Bing’s Predator and left with He Zizhong and Fang Hao towards the base together.

When they arrived near the gate of the base, the two cars separated and joined different lines to enter. After all, they were two different teams. As long as those people didn’t keep a close eye on He Zizhong’s Fengche team, they could cooperate with one team in the dark and the other in the light.

On He Zizhong’s side — he had already asked Tuanzi to turn invisible, and stealthily stare at the returning Samsara vehicle from mid-air.

He Zizhong and Fang Hao entered the base first and returned to the villa smoothly. No one troubled them as expected.

On the other hand, Guo Bing and the others were stopped when they were about to drive into the base after the inspection.

“They were actually taken…” Fang Hao opened his eyes in a daze and looked at He Zizhong.

Tuanzi was still following Guo Bing and them, floating in mid-air. Everyday is still cloudy and drizzly, and the skies were grey. With Tuanzi’s upgraded stealth skills, even He Sizhong would have difficulty telling where it was in mid-air. It’s natural people can’t detect it.

He Zizhong sighed and kissed Fang Hao’s forehead. “Be careful, and enter the space as soon as you get out.”

Fang Hao took out another off-road vehicle from the space and drove it straight to the gate of the base alone. On the other hand, He Zizhong wandered around in the villa, throwing anything useful inside the space, linking his mind to Tuanzi from time to time to see the situation.

The body of the car Fang Hao drove was soiled by the pair before, and looked like a car that had been used for a long time in these post-apocalyptic days. When he went out, he used his own name and the Fengche team was not noticed, so it was naturally very simple to complete formalities and leave.

On the other side, after being taken away, Guo Bing and them were handcuffed and locked in an interrogation room. Fortunately, no one came to trouble them for a while.

The jade pendant stayed in Chen Ning’s hands this time. They were afraid that something would happen after entering the base, and the important things and abilities who needed to be protected were left outside the base.

He Zizhong finished packing up things in the villa and confirmed that there was nothing important left behind before focusing on Guo Bing’s side. Tuanzi who was following Guo Bing and the others, floated in a corner of the room, looking at the door.

As he was wondering how to act afterwards, He Zizhong’s heart moved. Fang Hao entered the space.

Not long after the pair of husbands separated, they reunited again in the space. He Zizhong checked up and down before asking, “How is it?”

“I drove the car out of the base, and am almost there. There was nothing wrong along the way. Are they okay now?”

“Well, there has been no movement after being locked in.” He Zizhong breathed a sigh of relief. Although Fang Hao can go directly to rest of the Samsara team to explain the situation, he was afraid if the team was uncomfortable and wanted to return to rescue Guo Bing and them, they would put his own situation at bay, in order to know more about the situation.

There was nothing for a while, and there seemed to be no one on Guo Bing’s side rushing to inquire about the situation. He Zizhong can only temporarily observe the situation. Saving people now is really an unwise choice. In case the situation is not that bad, they will completely break with the base as soon as they makes a move, and the gains may not outweigh the losses.

They waited until midnight. Guo Bing and his party were left there. No one paid any attention, no one gave them food or drink, and no one even asked about the toilet. It wasn’t until three or four o’clock in the morning that someone came in and pulled Guo Bing out.

With a swish, Tuanzi went out together, wandering ghostly over the back of Guo Bing’s head.

He Zizhong was also woken up by Tuanzi – really woken up! No one could bear the series of “papa, papa” persistently calling in their minds. It’s useless to plug his ears, and can only bear it! What are you calling for?

Fang Hao was also harassed by Tuanzi’s indiscriminate calls and woke up together. Unfortunately, all they could see was what Tuanzi saw, but they couldn’t hear what the people over there were saying. All they knew was Guo Bing was taken to a separate interrogation room and didn’t know what was being asked. Someone nagged for a long time, and Guo Bing was finally sent back after more than an hour later. After that, the rest of the team members were taken and interrogated one by one.

Early the next morning, someone came to take Guo Bing and them out. But instead of bringing them to the interrogation room like last time, they took them out of the small building where they were held, blindfolded, and driven straight to the other side of the base, to an office building.

This time it was obvious some high-level bosses were discussing terms with Guo Bing and them. It took a long time before they were sent to a villa. The conditions were better this time, without handcuffs, but there were people watching inside, and people with guns guarding them outside.

In the afternoon, Guo Bing was taken out alone again, to have a conversation with an old man he had met before.

Another day later, a car came again and pulled them to another place. They entered the door and saw – it turned out to be a larger conference room. In addition to Guo Bing and them, there were some other ability users. Some were captains of team, as well as people who they’ve cooperated  with before, and some other ability holders in the base.

He Zizhong frowned and thought for a moment, turning to say to Fang Hao: “You go out again to find Chen Ning and the others. Tell them the base has temporarily detained Guo Bing and them, but it seems that there is no danger. It looks like they are wooing them. Tell them to be ready.”

Fang Hao didn’t understand what was going on these past two days. He nodded after hearing He Zizhong’s words, and put on his clothes to leave the space.

 

Half a day without using the bathroom… that’s brutal.
