Chapter Thirty-Two: Rosa Wants to Understand (II)

“No, no, no!”

Rosa suddenly jumped up.

The plan she had initially dismissed as a ruse was, in fact, already in effect.

What a dangerous man!

“How could you!? How can you destroy a whole village over such a reason!? If you’re going to blame someone, blame me!”

Rosa screamed, prepared to accept responsibility for her mistake.

“Oh my, you’re up early. I expected nothing less from the Rose Angel. You truly enjoy self-sacrifice, don’t you?”

Kamil remarked with a sadistic smirk, then turned around and spoke to the kneeling Ladu,

“Well then, even now, a disease is spreading rapidly among Apt vermin. It is a disease so wicked that not even I, the one who caused it, can cure it. I’m curious. Do you really have the time to sit here and rant at me?”

“…!”

Ladu gasped once more.

He clenched his fists and said to Rosa, “Forgive me. I’m going.”

After which, he ran down the hill, holding his aching stomach.

He was most likely aiming to verify Kamil’s claims.

“Hmph. What a fool. He has no idea that my magic power has already encompassed the entire area, including the bottom of the hill.”

Hearing Kamil say that, Rosa gasped and tried to follow after Ladu.

This meant that as soon as Ladu arrived to his people, he would also succumb to the overhealing.

“Sir Ladu, please wa…”

“Stay right there! Don’t go running your mouth.”

Kamil swiftly covered Rosa’s mouth from behind as she tried to shout out to Ladu.

“I’ll need the two of you to burn to death after the infection is over for my story to add up. That is especially true for you because healing does not work on you, so I need to be extra careful with you.”

Kamil said, after which he muttered, “I suppose I’ll start by infecting them with the pathogen the Apts have been working on.”

Following that, he suddenly regained his calm demeanor and smiled at Rosa.

“Don’t worry. You’ll be following him very soon, young lady.”

The abrupt changes in Kamil’s demeanor and the way he held Rosa’s hair at the roots filled Rosa with terror.

“It… It hurts…”

“Well then, go ahead and greet the bottom of the hill. I’ll explain how your righteousness drove you to disregard my orders to heal the sick, resulting in you becoming infected and dying. And when they finally find you in a state that would make anyone look away, everyone will realize how awful the disease truly is.”

“Don’t… Don’t you think you’re going too far!?”

Rosa wept, tears welling up in her eyes.

She was sure that she could put her life on the line for moe. And that, no matter how much she despised another person’s fetishes, she would not resort to such extreme measures. Or at least she thought she wouldn’t…

“I… I realize that I have caused you pain! However, please calm your anger! If you’re going to blame someone, blame only me! Please retract your magic power! Please do not get the people of Apt involved in this!”

“You sure talk a lot.”

Kamil said, his face enraged, as he pulled Rosa’s hair with one hand and raised his other into the air, ready to strike her. It was then that someone shouted.

“Kamil! Stop it!”

A deep voice burst out loudly, and a flaming ball came toward Kamil simultaneously.

Kamil swiftly crouched to dodge the flaming ball that was aiming at his shoulder.

As a result, he let go of Rosa’s hair, causing her to lose her balance and nearly fall down the hill; however, a soft breeze gently lifted her entire body and prevented her from falling.

“Dear sister!”

Rosa noticed Bernando, Leon, and Chris all running towards her with enraged eyes when she looked around.

As she was still puzzled as to why the three of them had arrived, Chris immediately recited a spell, and the earth surrounding Kamil rose to bind him.

“Your Highness Christine, please calm yourself. This is a misunderstanding.”

“A misunderstanding!? You reek of hostility!”

Chris reprimanded Kamil severely despite his attempts to explain himself sincerely.

“We heard Rosa screaming, saying that if someone was to blame that it should be her.”

By the time Rosa was pleading, the three had seemingly already arrived.

Leon approached Kamil, whose lower torso was trapped by the earth, rendering him immobile.

“Answer me, Kamil. Why did you bring the physician and Rosa to the Apt village? Why do you consider Rosa an enemy?”

“You’re wrong, His Highness. We only came here because the physician ran out of herbs to treat Lady Rosa’s inju…”

“Kamil!”

Leon roared, “Tell me the truth!”

He said as he looked at Kamil’s face with his golden eyes.

Even when dealing with someone like Kamil, who had a high resistance to magic, Leon avoided staring into an opponent’s eyes as much as possible.

“…”

The eyes showed their power immediately, and the light in Kamil’s eyes faded.

Afterward, Kamil looked down and chuckled deviously.

“I’m merely punishing a couple of brats that don’t know their place!”

His exquisite lips uttered a curse-like murmur.

Leon and Chris both gazed at their cousin in disbelief.

“It is I who should rule the vast Kingdom of Berg. I, a healer… God’s chosen will establish a proper kingdom. I will burn you all to cinders, you who grew up in a foreign country, the idiotic princess who aspired to the throne despite being a woman, the queen who stirred the politics while merely being a concubine, as well as those wretched heretics!”

As his amber-colored eyes flared, Kamil spit remarks driven by his elitist and disdainful beliefs.

It was a vicious outburst that shattered earlier perceptions of him as a caring healer and a virtuous knight.

“I was going to take my time to make sure everything was right, but that stupid woman went above and beyond, and I had no choice but to rush… Damn it!”

Kamil became enraged and began shouting at Leon.

“Damn it! It’s because you don’t know your place! I should be king! You should be the one to serve me! I am the one that should stand above everyone else!”

Kamil’s true nature, which was viler than anything Leon had ever seen before, caused him to pale and fall silent.

“Dear sister, are you alright!? Are you wounded!?”

“No… No, I’m fine. Thank you, Bernando. You did well to come here.”

“It’s all thanks to what you said back in the library about the Apt village burning. I quickly had His and Her Highness use a Travel Formation.”

Meanwhile, Bernando was looking after Rosa after he had moved her to a safe location a short distance away.

“You really are one hell of a sister! Do you have any idea just how worried I was…”

Bernardo placed his hands on both of Rosa’s shoulders and scanned her entire body, his face pressed against hers, his brow furrowed.

Rosa’s expression went blank when a strand of Bernando’s slicked-back blonde hair brushed against the side of her ear. She knew now wasn’t the time for such thoughts. And even though she knew, she couldn’t stop herself.

Huh… That line just now… It was so, so, so cute. I supa love it!

Her vocabulary was starting to slip away from her.

Ah, I knew it. Bernando’s cuteness is god-level. Thus I can think of Bernando as a god; therefore, his breath, which just now casually tickled my ear, was the breath of a god!

Rosa shook as her soul was about to be purified and annihilated, but Bernardo swiftly moved away and gave her an alarmed look as if he’d misinterpreted Rosa’s reaction.

“I… I’m sorry.”

“I… It’s fine.”

Rosa gave a lackluster response.

She felt down, but it also helped her regain some of her composure.

She could never have imagined that Bernando would interpret her actions as her being so traumatized that she’d be terrified of her own brother’s touch.

“Uhm… Bernando. We were going to the medical room when Sir Kamil suddenly changed. The reasons for that are… somewhat hard to explain…”

“You don’t need to explain. His Highness will use his eyes to have him confess everything.”

Bernando gently said, cutting Rosa’s sentence halfway.

“What?”

Rosa exclaimed. Bernando then pointed at Kamil, who angrily shouted about how he was Leon’s superior and how Leon should serve him.

How must it feel to have your fetishes be exposed to the world like that?

Rosa thought with mixed feelings.

“I’ll punish you! You foolish prince, that arrogant woman, those wretched heretics! All of you who looked down on me… I will make you suffer to death!”

Rosa was taken aback when she heard Kamil scream.

That’s right! I shouldn’t be wasting my time here!

Rosa reflexively got up and ran towards the Apt village.

“Dear sister!?”

“Let me go, Bernando. You and the other can’t come.”

Rosa hurriedly looked at Bernardo, who had clutched her wrist reflexively.

“Sir Kamil has been circulating his healing magic power throughout the village for some time to induce symptoms comparable to those of a contagious disease. If any of you wander toward the bottom of the hill, you’ll almost certainly catch it. And since Kamil has made it impossible to withdraw the magic power, not even he can break the spell. That is why, as a healer, I should go.”

Rosa shook her hand away as she quickly explained the situation to Bernando.

Right now, Rosa was grateful to have been born a healer, even though she’d only ever used her powers to rot things up until now.

“But that will put you in danger, dear sister!”

“I’ll be fine. Healing magic power doesn’t work on healers. Take care of His and Her Highness!”

Rosa dashed down the hill with a resolute expression while she ignored the thoughts about how stunningly gorgeous Bernando’s face was.

She couldn’t let herself drag the Apts into the mess she’d caused with her careless statements.

However, the real reason behind her actions was none other than…

I can’t allow the Aptus homeland, a treasure trove of moe, to perish!

Rosa was consumed with the urge to ensure that no one violated this hallowed ground.
