At the gate of Aesop International School, a black Bentley has been waiting outside for more than ten minutes. Inside the car, Qin Junhong had a cigarette dangling from his mouth. He often glanced at the school gate, a vaguely anxious expression etched on his face.

It’s been more than half a month since that event – Zhu Xin was sent out from the Zhu family’s house by her brother, and she never went back once.

She didn’t even call home.

Zhu Shoushan didn’t care either. It’s as if he would let Zhu Xin stay at her grandfather’s house for as long as she wanted, and it would be fine if she never came back.

But if Zhu Xin never came back, what about his plan?

Just as he was thinking, a young girl appeared at the school gate. She wore a chiffon white dress; simple yet elegant, pure and energetic.

Qin Junhong didn’t hide the astonishment in his eyes. He immediately extinguished his cigarette and opened the door to get out of the car.

After Zhu Xin left the school gate, she took two quick steps and called out politely, “Qin-dage.”

The slightly unfamiliar address stiffed the smile on Qin Junhong’s face. He quickly covered it up.

Zhu Xin walked over. Her face had a polite but distant smile. “Why are you here?”

Qin Junhong said, “I drove by your school and wanted to see you. How are you? Are your lessons challenging? Would you like me to take you out to relax?”

As he said that, he leaned in to “naturally” patted Zhu Xin’s shoulder. But she seemed to have sensed this, and dodged him nimbly.

“…”

Zhu Xin kept a distance from him, but her expression didn’t change. “No need, I still have class in the afternoon.”

Qin Junhong replied, “Is it a very important class? If it’s not important, then Dage can help you ask the teacher for leave.”

The truth is, he already asked someone about Zhu Xin’s class schedule. For today, she should only have one piano class in the afternoon, and the rest is a self-study period.

Zhu Xin kept up her smile. She politely refused, saying, “It’s not an important class, but the exam is coming soon, so I won’t go out to play. Dage, thank you for your kindness.”

Qin Junhong: “…”

His lips twitched, but he managed to force a smile. “Okay, then Dage will take you to play after your exam is over. Studying is important, but relaxation is also very important. Pay attention to the balance between work and rest, don’t exhaust yourself. Your family will worry, you know.” His tone was soft, and his expression was full of concern.

Zhu Xin nodded obediently. “Okay, I will take care of it myself, thank you.”

“…”

He didn’t know if it was just his feelings, but Qin Junhong sensed that Zhu Xin was more distant than before.

Unwilling to leave like this, he tried to change the topic. “By the way, has Tongtong contacted you recently? Is he okay after he transfers to another school?”

Speaking of Zhu Tong, Zhu Xin’s eyes lit up. “He’s fine. He’s actually much livelier after the transfer. No need to worry, Dage.”

Qin Junhong: “…”

No need to worry??

Why is Zhu Tong becoming livelier? Shouldn’t he be dying not??

Qin Junhong’s heart sank when he saw how brighter Zhu Xin’s smile became once Zhu Tong was brought into the conversation. Sure enough, as long as Zhu Tong is still here, Zhu Xin will not have him in his eyes, let alone depend on him!

He paused for a while, then his smile became more relaxed. “It’s good that he’s fine. Since you still have class, you should go back quickly. Dagewill come to see you some other day. If you want to go to play, just call me.”

Zhu Xin nodded and waved him goodbye with a sweet voice. She turned around, while Qin Junhong watched every step she took.

–He didn’t realize that the smile on the girl’s face instantly vanished the moment she turned around.

This face-changing technique is about as sophisticated as Sichuan Opera Master’s.

Qin Junhong sat back in the car in frustration, and just as he closed the door, he received a call from Qin Manwen. He frowned impatiently, and answered the phone, “Mom.”

“Did you go to school to find Xiao Xin?” She immediately asked in lieu of a greeting.

The frown on Qin Junhong’s face became tighter. But still, he replied, “Yes, I met her. But she didn’t come with me.”

Qin Manwen’s anxiety bled through her voice. “Who told you to find her? How many times have I told you to keep you calm? The last time you took Zhu Tong’s card and he asked about it in front of his father! Now you have to be more careful about Xiao Xin’s matter. What if her grandfather finds out…”

“Legally speaking, I am her older brother. What’s wrong with me coming to see her at school?” Qin Junhong felt dissatisfied. “Mom, can you stop being so timid! You said I shouldn’t take Zhu Tong’s card, do you know how much money is in it? Ten million! You have been married into Zhu’s family for almost ten years, but did Zhu Shoushan ever give you that much money?”

“…”

“Zhu Shoushan has never regarded us as his own. I have graduated from college, and he never gave me a decent car, nor did he ever transfer any asset to my name. Don’t you understand? If I don’t fight for it, are we going to live our whole life on the charity of Zhu Shoushan?”

Qin Manwen was completely choked by his words.

“But……”

“No need, Mom, I’m sensible and know my limit. Don’t worry about it.”

After finishing speaking, he hung up the phone. Pausing for a while, he finally decided to dial another number. Once it connected, he immediately asked, “Hello, do you know someone who lives in Gongshui County?”

In the school, Qin Junhong’s sudden appearance caused a lot of impact.

The Zhu twins have been enrolled in the school for one year. With Qin Junhong’s deliberate doing, their family situation has become open and transparent in the school. Especially today, where Qin Junhong visited Zhu Xin in such a high-profile manner.

In the girls’ bathroom, two girls were washing their hands by the sink.

“Have you seen it? Zhu Xin’s older brother came to look for her today. He drives a Bentley. I know that car costs at least several million yuan. Sure enough, her father raised this stepson as his own son?”

“Huh, he’s just a stepson? No way, then this means he’s closer to him than to Zhu Tong, his biological son? Didn’t their father actually send him to a school in such a remote county like Gongshui? It’s clear that he has given up on him.”

“Then what can he do? Who made Zhu Tong’s health so poor? “

“Oh, what a pity, he is so handsome too. If he is not short-lived, I will find ways to marry him!”

“No, no, no. In fact, you can marry him, and later become a rich widow! That sounds fantastic too, don’t you think?”

“It would be great if Zhu Xin was also a man, so I can marry into a rich family with a good husband. Zhu Tong is in such poor health, I bet he must be restrained by his sister. Aren’t they twins, then she–”

Suddenly, a person appeared besides the two gossiping girls, stopping their chat abruptly.

Zhu Xin smiled and walked to the sink next to them to turn on the water. Her voice was gentle, eerily so. “Are you talking about me?”

“…”

The two girls looked at each other; surprise and embarrassment flashing in their eyes.

A girl looked at Zhu Xin and saw that she didn’t seem to be angry. She smiled and approached her and said, “Zhu Xin, we actually…”

“Ah, you are talking about me. But, do you know… I don’t want to hear someone saying such ugly things about my brother.” She lowered her head to wash her hands. Her delicate and pretty face didn’t look disturbed.

She raised her head and smiled, pulled a tissue paper to wipe off the water, turned around and walked out of the bathroom.

As soon as she turned around, the girl who had just spoken curled her lips, and muttered in a low voice, “Her father is much more biased towards his stepson, what’s wrong with us telling the truth…”

Her friend quickly shushed her. “Hurry up, you…”

“What?” She insisted, “Zhu Tong’s health is like that, who knows when he’s going to suddenly drop dead. He’s useless, especially compared to the plethora of excellent rich boys in our school. I just haven’t seen someone with his condition before, so it’s only natural to talk about it right? Who is she to control what we gossip, huh? Do– Ah!!!”

Before she finished speaking, there was a flurry of footsteps, then she felt a piercing pain blooming in her abdomen.

She tried to raise her face, hand covering the pulsating pain – it was caused by a kick directly to her stomach.

“Liao Ling!”

The girl on the sidelines was startled, and looked at Zhu Xin in disbelief, “Zhu Xin, you…”

“You should be glad that high heels are not allowed in school. If not… maybe you will have an extra hole in your body.”

” …”

Liao Ling sat on the ground clutching her stomach, her face pale with pain, unable to speak a word.

The other girl forgot to even help her. She was overwhelmed by Zhu Xin’s sharp words and cold expression.

However, Zhu Xin was an expert at controlling her expression. After confirming that these two gossiping girls wouldn’t retaliate, she tidied up her appearance, and turned around with her usual serene face.

But before she could leave, she seemed to remember something. She faced them again, this time with a saccharine smile.

“If you still want to stay in this school, then… there will be no fourth person who knows about what happened today. Although us twins are useless, I think it wouldn’t be too difficult to have you suddenly drop out of school.”

In the eyes of the two girls, her smile was scarier than a ghost.

Until the sound of footsteps could no longer be heard, the two of them did not move even one inch.

It was absolutely silent inside the bathroom, even a dropped pin would echo in it.
