Two Weeks Ago

I yawned as I stretched, my eyes filling with tears as I glimpsed outside of my bedroom window. The moon was out without a single cloud in sight.

If I had to be honest, I was a bit scared to go back to bed. I had been having these weird dreams lately and I didn't like them.

Nothing horrifying happened.

It's not creepily strange.

It's just the life of a black, smoke-like being named "Calamitis".

But now that I think about it…

...perhaps it is creepy.

The being I've been dreaming about is surprisingly similar to a character that I wrote about in "Every Cold Winter"--a novel I had written in the past. His life and name resembles "Calamitis" down to a "T". A thing to note is that Calamitis was the son of the God of Calamity who ended up successfully destroying the world of Forgoe.

Yes, I'm an author who wrote a bad ending.

Why? Because there's rarely any book that ends with the Hero's demise. It's always the Villain. I got bored with that pattern and so I wrote my own story.

It turned out others had agreed with with my sentiments because after a week of its appearance on the shelves, it boomed in popularity.

Calamitis was a special character. He acted as the mentor towards the Protagonist and Antagonist in the form of a cat. While the two were fighting each other, Calamitis, the real Villain, steadily destroyed the world in the shadows. Even the readers were surprised when they realized the plot twist in the end.

I would be too if I wasn't the one who had written it.

Who would expect that the Mentor was actually the Villain? Usually the Mentors were more like side characters. They're there for one moment and then never mentioned again. Their only job is to teach the Protagonist so that he/she could succeed.

Either way, it's been several years since I've last seen a single page of that book. I had forgotten about it as time went on. After having those dreams that were vaguely familiar for the past week, I decided to refresh myself of its existence.

Just recently I've been having this ominous feeling. As if something bad was going to happen…

Oh, whatever.

I'm just being paranoid.

I should probably get some food, I'm starving.

Flicking off the light of my desk lamp, I grabbed my grey cardigan and rushed out of my apartment, walking my way to the nearest convenience store.

On my way there, I had to deal with the cold breeze that steadily got colder as time passed.

Come on man, you were bearable five minutes ago, why are you acting like a freezer now?

When I finally got to my destination, I pushed my way inside and rubbed my cold hands together as I walked through the aisles, gazing at the unhealthy snacks lined up.

Not even three minutes passed before the most stereotypical robber rushed in with a gun shouting: "Get down on the ground and don't move!"

Something seemed to possess me as I grabbed a liter of Coca Cola and somehow--I honestly don't know how--I chucked it, hitting the burglar.

This in turn gave me a mouthful of bullet.

Crap…

WAIT!

WHAT?!

WHY IN THE NAME OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DID I CHUCK A LITER OF COKE AT A DUDE WITH A GUN?!

What's wrong with me?!

To be honest, this is something Calamitis would do if he wanted to spite someone...

He's a pretty obnoxious guy, I admit.
