The Strongest Sect of All Times

Chapter 50: real or not real

After Jun Changxiao eliminated the Black Wind Stronghold, he had taken Zhou Tianba’s Azure Dragon Naginata for his own. Unexpectedly, it would also work as evidence!

Wei Yile and Wei Yiai saw the Azure Dragon Naginata and glanced at each other. The two of them had visited Black Mountain before and had seen Zhou Tianba, so they naturally recognized this sabre.

Had he really eliminated the Black Wind Stronghold?

Impossible!

A Meridian Opening rookie would find it impossible! There was definitely a hidden conspiracy!

Jun Changxiao said, “City Lord Xie, since you know that this blade belonged to Zhou Tianba, how is the evidence that this Jun has taken out?”

City Lord Xie hesitated.

He truly found it hard to believe that this Ironbone Sect Head managed to completely destroy the Black Wind Stronghold. But according to the investigation, Zhou Tianba’s corpse had indeed been missing the weapon. Now that the Azure Dragon Naginata was before him, there were only two possibilities.

First, Sect Head Jun was the first person to visit the stronghold after it had been eliminated.

Second, Sect Head Jun was present during the destruction, though he may not have been the one to actually make the move.

“Sect Head Jun,” said City Lord Xie. “Can you explain the process of destroying the Black Wind Stronghold?”

[Ding!]

[A side mission has been triggered.]

Another one?

Jun Changxiao opened the panel and read the description, which was:  [Make City Lord Xie believe that the host is the person who destroyed the Black Wind Stronghold {Incomplete}]

It seems like just taking out the Azure Dragon Naginata is not enough to convince him.

Jun Changxiao was silent for a moment before saying, “City Lord Xie, in fact, if it was only this Jun himself, completely destroying that many bandits would have been impossible.”

City Lord Xie perked up. “Someone assisted you?”

Jun Changxiao shook his head. “Not a person, but a spirit.”

“A spirit?” City Lord Xie was at a loss.

Jun Changxiao was serious as he confirmed, “To be more exact, an ancestral spirit.”

“An ancestral spirit…?” City Lord Xie could not understand.

Jun Changxiao nodded. “City Lord Xie, did you know that my Ironbone Unyielding Sect is an ancient sect?”

“I have heard of it.”

City Lord Xie had indeed heard of it before. However, the idea that the Ironbone Unyielding Sect was founded on the Eastern Sea Aolai Country’s Ironbone Mountain? Two words: absolute nonsense.

Jun Changxiao continued, “Although my Ironbone Unyielding Sect has lost much of its former glory, the spirits of our ancestors still exist. When I am in danger, they will attach to this Jun and provide me with great power.”

City Lord Xie was surprised. Is there such a thing in this world? “Huh. So you mean to say that an ancestor’s soul possessed you, then destroyed the Black Wind Stronghold in one fell swoop?”

“Correct,” nodded Jun Changxiao.

He was a rookie of the Meridian Opening Realm — it would be too much of a shock to say that he had destroyed the bandits by himself. Therefore he pulled out the story of an ancestor’s soul, which couldn't be verified.

“Tsk tsk. How mysterious.”

Wei Yiai suddenly commented, “City Lord Xie, this boy is talking nonsense. You shouldn't believe him.”

Wei Yile smiled. “Sect Head Jun, I actually wanted to ask, since the Ironbone Unyielding Sect has the support of these ancestral spirits, why has it degenerated into a ninth-grade sect?”

Jun Changxiao calmly responded, “Our Founder was powerful enough to go against Heaven’s Will but was suppressed under Five Fingers Mountain. The sect was then cursed by the Heavens and has been reduced into its current state.”

If he couldn’t even keep his story straight, why would he bother flamboyantly lying?

In other words, Sect Head Jun has given the Ironbone Sect some historical breast implants, shamelessly bolstering the sect’s history so that it was comparable to that of a small country in East Asia.

“What bullshit!”

“This is spreading lies and misleading the people!”

No matter what beautiful bullshit Jun Changxiao spewed, the two Wei brothers wouldn’t believe him because of their enmity.

City Lord Xie smiled as he said, “Sect Head Jun, can you demonstrate a spirit possession?”

Jun Changxiao helplessly said, “Ancestral spirit possession is based on luck, it is not something I can control. This Jun finds it difficult to demonstrate.”

“Humph,” snorted Wei Yiai. “Spoke for such a long time, but it’s all drivel.”

Wei Yile also attacked, saying, “This so-called spirit possession is just nonsense. City Lord Xie, don’t be deceived by this child’s glib tongue.”

Jun Changxiao did not pay attention to the duo. “City Lord Xie, that was the details of how the Black Wind Stronghold was destroyed. I have already presented Zhou Tianba’s blade. Whether or not you believe me, this Lord will not say anything more.”

Why is the mission still not complete?

It seems that City Lord Xie is difficult to deceive.

The system said: [The other is a city lord, he has eaten more roads than you have walked rice. He will not easily believe the words of others.]

Makes sense.

Wait a minute!

Roads eaten, rice walked?

My dear system, if you aren’t cultured please don’t try to sound cultured! My scalp still tingles from your gibberish! [1]

[Ding! Congratulations to the host for completing the side mission. You have obtained 10 contribution points.]

[Ding! Contribution Points: 86/100.]

System: […]

Jun Changxiao, “…”

City Lord Xie smiled. “This matter has troubled this City Lord for many days, but the mystery has finally been solved.”

“Sect Head Jun,” he continued as he got up and cupped his fists. “This Lord here thanks you on behalf of the Qingyang common people for eradicating the calamity known as the Black Wind Stronghold.”

The two Wei brothers were flabbergasted.

City Lord Xie actually believed that nonsense?

Jun Changxiao was also a little surprised, but he solemnly said, “As a member of Qingyang Commandery, it is only right for me to uphold justice. As the leader of a sect, it is only right for me to rid the people of evil!”

City Lord Xie’s eyes were filled with newfound appreciation and he waved, arranging the 1000 taels at once. “This City Lord never treats a chivalrous person unjustly. Sect Head Jun, please accept this reward!”

Once the money had been placed into his storage ring, Jun Changxiao cupped his fist. “Many thanks!”

He didn’t even try to decline, his face was truly thick!

“City Lord Xie.” Like a demon, Wei Yiai had to speak again. “1000 taels is a lot. Please give careful consideration in order to prevent being deceived.”

“Right,” agreed Wei Yile. “We don’t even know if that blade is the real thing. Please reconsider.”

Motherfuckers.

You just want to make this about you, right?

Jun Changxiao was cold as he said, “Ever since this Lord entered, you two elders have been targeting me. Is this not bullying?”

Wei Yile innocently smiled as he said, “Sect Head Jun, please don’t misunderstand. We are just giving our logical opinions on this matter.”

“Logical opinions?” Jun Changxiao grasped the blade as he said, “Whether or not this is the real thing, if this Lord comes and hits you with it, won’t we find out then?”

“Alright,” Wei Yile cheerfully agreed.

In the martial arts arena.

Jun Changxiao stood with the Azure Dragon Naginata in his hand and thought, How long can the Speed Talisman last?

[20 minutes.]

The corners of Jun Changxiao’s mouth raised into a smile. That is enough to return to the sect after dealing with these two fellows.

Pah!

Wei Yile brought out his chain whip and glanced at the observing City Lord Xie. “Swords do not have eyes. If there is any accident, I ask City Lord Xie to help testify.”

This guy didn’t care about whether the naginata was fake or not.

“Okay.” City Lord Xie was just there to watch the fun. “This City Lord will make a testimony. Swords do not have eyes, fight at your own risk.”

After getting this response, Wei Yile turned to Jun Changxiao. Exuding an intense killing intent, he asked, “Sect Head Jun, are you ready?”

“Come,” replied Jun Changxiao.

Xiu!

Wei Yile poured Martial Apprentice level spirit power into the chain whip. Like a snake, the chain whip immediately flew over.

It was a very strong attack with a cunning angle. Obviously, the goal was heavy injury or death.

“What a heavy hand,” City Lord Xie said as he shook his head.

He heard that the two in the arena had grievances, but hadn’t expected that the Spirit Spring elder would start with such extreme methods.

Could that guy avoid it?

As he was thinking this, he saw that Jun Changxiao took one step to the side, forming an afterimage and avoiding the whip at an extremely quick speed.

“This…” City Lord Xie’s expression was a little sluggish.

Shua!

By this time, Jun Changxiao had already circled behind Wei Yile. Eyes filled with a chilling intent, the naginata slashed diagonally.

Puchi!

Wei Yile’s head flew into the air.

Jun Changxiao stood behind the decapitated corpse, arms still maintaining the slashing motion. Void of emotion, he asked, “Elder Wei, this blade, is it real or not real?”

[1] The system said 他吃过的路比你走过的米都多, which literally translates to ‘the roads he has eaten is more than the rice you have walked’. This is an incorrect combination of two different phrases — 我走过的桥比你走过的路还多,我吃过的盐比你吃过的米还多 (I’ve walked across more bridges than you’ve walked roads, I’ve tasted more salt than you’ve eaten rice) — which is about one person having more life experience than another
