The Struggle of a Weak Aristocrat in a Different World C37: Entrance Examination Lunch Break

“Viscount Dreschord, you have a practical combat test this afternoon! I don’t want to keep you here any longer, so I’m going home! See you later!”

Alfred spat that out and left with a big smile on his face. I hope you won’t interrupt me until the afternoon exam…….I felt incredibly anxious, but since there was nothing I could do about it, I just prayed.

The entrance exam consists of two parts: a written test in the morning and a swordsmanship test in the afternoon.

In the swordsmanship examination, students selected by lottery will have a mock match with each other for a time limit of 10 minutes. If the time limit is exceeded, the match is called a draw. The test is repeated three times, and if you win at least once, you pass. Even if you don’t win, you will pass if there are two draws or if the examiner deems you acceptable.

Well, swordsmanship exams are basically lenient, and for children of noble families who have been practicing swordsmanship since childhood, it is easy to be accepted by the examiner.

I guess I should just win one and let the rest go. The best way to show off your abilities is to win all of them, but winning all of them when you don’t know what the people around you are capable of is not a great way to show off, and it’s not worth the trouble of hurting the pride of the nobles by winning.

While I was thinking about this, Alfred left, and the exam students around me started sneaking glances at me and talking. Well, I guess it’s conspicuous that exam students are talking to current students. It’s too much trouble, so I’ll just leave it at that. I shook off the curious stares of the people around me and left the examination hall, heading for the cafeteria, the waiting room for the students.

I crossed the corridor, riding the wave of students heading for the waiting room, and arrived safely at the cafeteria, where I occupied a table for four at the end of the many long desks. When I looked at the long table, I saw several groups of examinees gathered together, harmoniously matching answers to the test they had just taken.

Heh, heh. I guess everyone knows each other. I don’t envy you, but…I see…you all have acquaintances…

Oh my God, is that group looking at me? Are they talking about how I have no one to talk to at recess? Damn, what’s wrong with being alone? Feeling somewhat uncomfortable, I lay down on the table at the end of the room and made myself as small as possible so as not to be seen.

I’m lonely. I can’t wait to go home…….As I kept thinking these negative thoughts, I could feel the noise getting louder.

I wondered if the students were gradually gathering in the cafeteria. I was curious, and when I looked up, sure enough, the cafeteria was overflowing with students preparing for the exam, and when I spotted a girl with beautiful peach-colored hair among them, I looked down. Mist is here! I don’t even want to meet her, and she might think that I’m a nobleman who can’t even be social!

Please! Don’t notice me! Don’t notice! I stayed down and made a wish.

When I was so down, I heard an even louder noise. I was curious, but I was too afraid of Mist to look up…….When the noise became quieter, a beautiful voice called out to me.

“May I sit with you?”

The seats are filling up and there’s nowhere to sit? Well, no matter! Now I can graduate from being alone! I looked up as I replied.

“Yes! Sure…….”

When I looked up, I saw in front of me a beautiful girl with blond hair, long eyelashes, round eyes, beautiful red lips, and a pouting mouth.

“Chris?”

“Geez, Alice…….”

“I knew it! What do you mean, “geez”?”

“No, no.” Alice had a big smile on her face that took a sudden turn of indignation.

Damn right! If Alice is the same age as me, she definitely should be in this exam! I guess I lost my cool because I was lonely….. I’m sorry, but I can’t regret it.

“I don’t understand! What do you mean, you don’t know?”

“Stop! Forget it, there’s people watching!”

The nobles around us murmured loudly because of Alice’s arrival……. And because of Alice’s loud voice, the surrounding nobles are looking at us. Here, letting the people around you know that you are close to the princess is only a loss.

For example, the nobles who want to be related to the royal family will be jealous, and the other factions will see me as an enemy. How should I get out of this situation……?
