C64: In the infirmary

Huh. What should I do about Claire and Alfred’s study group? I don’t know how I can find the time. Should I just teach them the subjects they’re likely to receive? I’m sure they’ll blame me if they get bad marks. Oh, what should I do?

I was lost in my thoughts, worrying about this and that, and before I knew it, I had arrived at the infirmary. Well, I guess I’ll have to listen to Alice’s farewell talk about how she’s going to have to leave here to make me feel better.

I knocked on the door with great enthusiasm.

As I waited for an answer, the door opened and a man with brown hair came out from inside. He was wearing clean clothes, so I guessed he was the school doctor.

I called out to him.

“Excuse me. I’m here to deliver a package.”

“Oh. You must be the Dreschord guy. Miss Americia is waiting for you inside. She seems to be in good health with no fever, but don’t talk too long because you never know what might happen.”

With that, the doctor turns to leave the room.

“Yes. Where are you going?”

“I’m going to wait at the front of the room. I can’t eavesdrop on your conversation with Americia-sama. If anything happens, call me right away.”

To be honest, I was hoping that I could use the doctor to get out talking to Alice, but if that’s the case, I guess I’ll just have to do it.

“I understand. I will end the conversation as soon as I can.”

“Yeah, you do that.”

The school doctor patted me on the shoulder in passing. We switched places and I entered the infirmary, closing the door behind me.

Inside the doctor’s office, there was a shelf with some unknown jars lined up against the wall, a wooden desk and chair next to it. The beds were lined up from the center to the end of the room. Alice was sitting on the bed closest to the entrance.

I whispered to Alice so that the school doctor would not hear me.

“Are you okay?”

Alice’s mouth twitched in annoyance. She then replied in a whisper.

“I’m not okay. My back hurts from being forced to go to the infirmary.”

I supported Alice’s luggage with both hands and held it out in front of her.

“Thank you. Put it there.”

I did as Alice asked, carefully placing the luggage where she pointed, so as not to make any noise.

“So, what’s this about?”

“Right, let’s talk!”

Alice’s smile became radiant, and the gloomy state she had been in disappeared.

I have a bad feeling about this. Whenever Alice looks happy like this, nothing good has ever happened. I felt like running away was the only way to escape.

I quickly stood up and turned my back on Alice, started walking and said goodbye to her without stopping.

“I’ll let you rest then.”

“Wait!”

Suddenly, my body was pulled backwards. When I looked, I saw that Alice had her arms around my waist and her hands clasped tightly at my navel. We were standing together, like two people riding a bicycle.

“Get off me. I feel like going home right now. Please Alice, let me go.”

“No! I won’t let go! I’m not letting you go until you listen to me!”

“No, a sick person should be at rest! Shut up and go to sleep!”

“I’m not sick! You shut up and listen to me!”

“No! I don’t feel like listening to you!”

Then Alice dropped to her knees and clung to me, her face pressed tightly to my waist. As she does, the arm around my waist slips down, and if I keep going, her hand will be in a very dangerous position. Oh no. If I am held there, I will die of extreme pain.

I tried to untie Alice’s thin arm, but she was gripping it with a strength I couldn’t imagine from her appearance, and I couldn’t seem to get it off. I don’t understand why she’s always so strong when she clings to me!

“Please, just listen to me!”

Alice complained in a tearful voice. Oh no, Alice’s hands are almost at my feet! It’s no use! I have to talk to her as soon as possible and get her to let me go!

“All right!”

“No! I’m not letting go until you listen to me!”

“Just talk to me!”

“I’m not going to let you go!”

“I’ll listen to you, just let me go!”

Finally, Alice’s arms relaxed. Oh, thank God…….

“Really?”

Alice asks, looking up at me, her big beautiful eyes watering.

“Really!”

When I urged Alice to talk to me, she blushed and gave me a sparkling smile. I’ve got a bad feeling about this already…….

“Father set up a study area for me and Chris to study together! Now I can study without worrying!”

My eyes went black, and I fell to my knees.

“What’s wrong, Chris?”

How did that happen! Is the king a fool? Normally, it would be unacceptable to allow an unmarried princess to get close to a nobleman of the rank of viscount! On the contrary, it’s insane to prepare a place to study so that she could get close to him.

This is a bad dream! Yay! I don’t have to have a study session with Alfred, Claire, or Alice! This is a really bad dream!

I held out my arm to Alice.

“Well, the sooner I wake up from the bad dream, the better. Alice, pinch me.”

“What’s wrong with you?”

“Just pinch me, please.”

“Why are you so brazenly asking the princess to do something so weird?…..Okay, okay. Here, how about this?”

Then Alice pinched my arm.

“Does it hurt?”

“Of course it hurts! Why are you asking me that?”

The stabbing pain in my arm made me realize that I had been awakened from my dream of having no study sessions and a normal life.
