The Unexpected Discovery of Love
Chapter 75
He did not know how long he sat in the tub, when he woke up, she was massaging his shoulders. Her action made him freeze, he was at loss for words, what was she doing? If he misinterpreted her actions again, won't this lead to another problem. "Thank you. I'm fine now." He said, getting up before grabbing a towel. "You did not have to do this." He added. Then he stepped out of the tub, walking towards the shower. "Why are you doing this?" He heard her ask. Without turning back to face her, he replied, "To protect all that is precious to me." Even though he was almost in the shower, she was still watching him, he turned around, "You.. need to leave."
"Huh? Why do I have to leave?" She questioned dumbly. Shaking his heard, he sighed, was she really dumb or was she acting dumb? He couldn't tell, either way, he could not play her silly games. "Except you want to watch me strip, you can stay." He said taking off his towel. She was at loss for words but she kept staring wide-eyed without moving. Because he had been in the tub, his briefs stuck to his body. She could see the outline of his asset. She gulped, loudly. Stammering, she asked, "Wh.. what are you doing?"
"You refused to leave." He reminded her. "Oh.. right.. sorry." She said rushing out of the bathroom. After she left, he quickly took of his things before taking a shower. When he came out, she was sitting awkwardly on the bed. To say he was enjoying her reaction, would not be a lie. However he was acting aloof. He slowly opened the wardrobe taking out a set of pyjamas. He could feel her gaze, it made him feel hot but he made to move to acknowledge her, he went into the bathroom to change before returning. After that, he picked up a blanket and a pillow before returning to the living room.
Like a child hungry for attention, she followed after him. "You haven't applied the balm. Let me help you." She said, searching for it. She hurried back to him with the balm, "Take of your shirt." He paused for a while before taking it off but he did not let her touch him. Taking the balm from her, he said, "I can handle it." She stood awkwardly, watching him, "You can't reach your back, let me help you." She suggested. "No it's fine." He politely refused. She began playing with her fingers as she did not know what else to do.
"Aren't you hungry? Let me make dinner." She suggested, rushing to the kitchen. But he laid down on the couch, covered himself properly before rejecting her offer. "I already ate." At this point, she felt he was avoiding her. She was of the opinion that they already made up, why was he still avoiding her? "You've already eaten? But we always eat dinner together." She said, her voice dripping with disappointment. How was he to reply? He wasn't sure, she was so sensitive, he felt he was walking on eggshells whenever she was around.
"May be, some other time." He said, closing his eyes. But he couldn't even get the peace he was hoping for. "What do mean by 'may be, some other time'? You seem unsure. Do you hate eating with me so much?" She complained as she made her way to him. Carl could feel the headache coming. Was he to placate her then? "I meant whenever I don't eat out, as long as you're around, we will eat together." Kim frowned, "Since when did you start eating out?" He opened his eyes, before sitting up, "Are we really having this conversation?" He asked, holding his head. "You should eat if you're hungry. I want to sleep."
"Answer my question then, since when did you start eating out?" She was no longer blushing from embarrassment, she was annoyed. "Since you left." He said solemnly, looking into her eyes. As she felt guilty, she removed her eyes, looking at her feet. "Can I sleep now?" He asked. Though he did not want to bring up that matter, since he did not want her to keep questioning him, he answered truthfully. His heart softened when he saw how guilty she was, "Look, it doesn't really matter where I eat, you should go eat something, it's getting late." After that he laid down on the couch, then he heard her question "Who said it doesn't?"
"Who said it does?" He retorted. "Me." She whispered. "I doubt you have the right to complain about where I eat." He added. She stood still staring at him with teary eyes. He was now cold to her and she didn't like it but what could she do? She started it, she was the one who pushed him away. Should she said she cares about him? But then where is the proof of that, she had acted like she didn't care at all.
"Sorry to bother you." She muttered, turning to leave. Before she got to the bedroom door, he added, "You're not a bother. I just want to rest. Goodnight." He quickly said before things get worse. "Right.. good night."
