Half a month ago.

Qiu Li, who had received the Transformers and biscuits, didn’t immediately go to class after seeing Yan Xiao off. Instead, he continued to admire the new gift at the school gate, and carved the face and name of this unknown superstar into his mind.

Since they are still alive, I assume the author didn’t mean that this literally? So just take this as they knocked and slightly injured their head.. His parents were usually busy and hardly ever went to his parent-teacher conferences, but that day his parents quickly came to school. And so, he attempted to tumble down the slide.

He didn’t graze his head, but he had gotten a fracture.

It was, once again, the secretary uncle who came that day. He thought that it was because he hadn’t injured his head that his dad didn’t come to the school. Afterwards, he finally injured his head, but his dad still didn’t come. Not only did his dad not show up, but he was also scolded by his dad when he reached home.

He scolded him for being difficult and always giving him trouble.

That was when he realised that he was, in his dad’s eyes, simply trouble.

Since then, he never played on the slide again, and he no longer expected his dad to come to school.

Today was no different.

He tightly hugged the Transformers in his arms and blinked softly; the secretary uncle was lying to him, but he doesn’t blame him.

Seeing that he still didn’t speak, the secretary looked away and no longer spoke.

 

It was during lunchtime at noon when Qiu Zhan heard from the family driver that Qiu Li had injured someone in a fight at school, and had to call his parents down to school.

He didn’t care about why Qiu Li got into a fight with someone, but he felt that it was a pity that the little bastard was completely fine.

Qiu Zhan just coldly glared at him, “You don’t know shit!”

The whole afternoon, Qiu Zhan didn’t listen to a single word from the teacher. All he could think about was how to teach that little bastard Qiu Li a lesson to make him aware of his status, and stay away from XiaoYan’s friends.

Five years ago, that mistress mother of his had come to snatch his mother’s things, and turned the family upside down. Now, he too was trying to snatch from his brother4I died trying to translate this sentence again. The gist of it is that Qiu Li’s mother had tried to snatch the position of Father Qiu’s wife from QZ’s mother. Now, QL is trying to snatch Qiu Yan’s things (i.e. friends)..

He’s no longer the same helpless boy as before, dream on bastard!

After that day, he had always been looking for opportunities. Finally, today is the day.

His parents had accompanied XiaoYan to the exhibit abroad, leaving only him and Qiu Li at home. He took advantage of the holidays as an excuse to let the servants return home and celebrate Christmas. Then, he seized the opportunity to throw Qiu Li into the elevator.

He initially planned to lock him in there all night, using the excuse of the elevator malfunctioning and that there was no one at home. But to his surprise, Yan Xiao came over after just an hour.

Since he didn’t take her hand, she is slightly shaking her hand, gesturing him to take her hand (kind of an up-down motion?)., “Come out, okay?”

It was only now that the darkness filling his eyes slowly faded away, and his five senses finally slowly returned, and he woodenly gazed at Yan Xiao.

She was waving at him.

And was also smiling.

His gaze fell back onto Qiu Zhan’s face.

He had never disliked Qiu Zhan as much as he did now, even to the point of hating him.

His fists unconsciously clenched and his chest ached a little, as if a fire was burning, it was both painful and hot.

“Qiu Li?”

A familiar voice sounded in his ears, and that fire suddenly became much smaller.

She slightly pulled her hand back but didn’t manage to withdraw her hand.

Qiu Li did not let go of her hand.

Yan Xiao: “……”

Qiu Zhan: “……”

“That ……” Yan Xiao thought about it and said to Qiu Zhan, “Why don’t I stay a little longer? Brother Qiu Zhan has homework to do, right? You can just go and do your homework. Don’t worry about me, I’ll leave by myself later. ”

Qiu Zhan nearly lost control of his emotions and flew into a rage in front of Yan Xiao.

The first line sounds more like a genuine question out of curiosity whereas this line sounds provocative (kind of similar to asking ‘what can you even do here’).

“Passing by,” Yan Xiao said, “Why did you play with the elevator? Why didn’t you shout for help when you got stuck in the elevator?”

Qiu Li looked down at the milk in his hand and didn’t say anything.

Yan Xiao: “?” Such a bad temper? Won’t even let her ask?

She suspected that he was embarrassed by the fact that she had chanced upon his embarrassing moment.

Knowing that he had a lot of pride and would probably start giving her an attitude if she stayed any longer, she stood up and said, “I’m going home.”

Qiu Li glanced up at her: “…… Oh.”

Yan Xiao’s eyebrows twitched and she raised her hand to show him, “Let go of my hand, I’m going home.”

Qiu Li was stunned for a moment before he remembered that he was still holding onto her hand. He hurriedly let go and even rubbed the palm of his hand against his shirt out of panic.

When she mentioned the elevator, the look in Qiu Li’s eyes changed.

Yan Xiao thought, okie dokie, since you don’t allow me to mention your dark past9The raws was 黑历史, literally meaning black history. It means moments of someone’s past that they want to avoid or forget about, usually referring to embarrassing events that one wants to avoid talking about. In this case, YX thinks QL is embarrassed about playing with the elevator and is trying to avoid talking about it., then I won’t mention it for now.

When she got to the door, she remembered something and ran back to dig through her bulging little bag.

Qiu Li thought she was going to give him a marshmallow, and his eyes automatically lit up, but she ended up pulling out an apple from her bag.

“Today is Christmas Eve,” Yan Xiao said, “Surely no one has given you a peace fruit10Christmas Eve: The raws for Christmas Eve was 平安夜, also known as Silent Night, but the words literally mean safe (or peace) night.
Peace fruit: During the holiday, it is customary to give out 平安果, meaning safety (or peace) fruit, as a way to wishing for one another to have peace and be safe.
Why apple?: The peace fruit 平安果 is pronounced píng ān guǒ, while apple is 苹果, pronounced píng guǒ. Since they sound similar, people give out apples as the ‘peace fruit’., so I’ll give one to you.”

Qiu Li blinked.

When he didn’t move, Yan Xiao stuffed it into his hand, as usual – except that her actions were much gentler than before.

“I’m going home,” Yan Xiao turned around to leave after she had handed the apple over, “My aunt is still waiting for me.”

It was only after Yan Xiao had gone for a while that Qiu Li looked at the red apple in his hand, and said softly –– thank you.

After saying thank you, he drank the milk in his hand in one gulp. He didn’t wash the cup11The raws was 被子 (bèi zi) meaning blanket, but I assume it’s just a typo for杯子 (bēi zi) meaning cup, since he was drinking milk so it should be a …cup of milk. like he usually did. Instead, he just placed it on the table, then carried the apple upstairs.

Once the door closed, he hesitated for only a moment before locking the bedroom door. In the past, he had never locked it, and did not dare to lock it.

But today, he doesn’t want to yield to him anymore! He was going to lock the door!

After locking the door, he turned on all the lights in the bedroom – including the small table lamp on the study desk.

He didn’t mind the glare from the light, so he just crawled into bed with the light on, hugging the peace fruit given by Yan Xiao.

Not long after he laid down with the peace fruit in his arms, he sat up once again and ran out of bed barefoot. He pulled a box out from under the bed, took out all of its contents, and poured everything out onto the bed ––

Marshmallows, biscuits, Transformers.

They were all given to him by Yan Xiao.

He then laid down in the middle of these things, hugged the apple, and slept with peace of mind.

No wonder the system said that the villain had a complex mind. He was only so young and was already so unpredictable. It will definitely be terrible once he grows up.
