Shen Liuxiang was taken aback, “What aura?”

Zhou Xuanlan’s gaze shifted away from the puzzled face, landing on his chest. Suddenly, he reached out, unbuttoning Shen Liuxiang’s clothes without a word, and his slender fingers, without hesitation, ventured inside.

Shen Liuxiang’s body tensed, his face showing an expression of disbelief.

The clearly defined knuckles of Zhou Xuanlan’s fingers explored beneath the thin inner garment, tracing his chest.

Shen Liuxiang felt slightly annoyed. He wrested his wrists free and was about to push Zhou Xuanlan away when he noticed that Zhou Xuanlan had withdrawn his hand, holding a crimson handkerchief.

At a glance, he saw the embroidered characters “Wenren” in the corner of the handkerchief. “What is this?”

Shen Liuxiang sat up on the bed, his clothing loose, and his dark hair disheveled. His thick eyelashes trembled, and he didn’t answer. His handsome face showed uncertain emotions.

Being pinned to the bed by his disciple in such a manner, he felt a bit annoyed. He thought that after not seeing each other for so long, it was time to reestablish his authority.

Zhou Xuanlan’s gaze remained on the handkerchief, his eyes clouded.

He hadn’t been gone for long, but Wenren Qin had already approached his master. Even if it was a handkerchief, the aura shouldn’t have been so pronounced. Who knew where this came from?

An expression of anger appeared on his face, and he couldn’t help but tear the handkerchief to pieces.

Just as he was about to take action, he heard a soft voice from the bed.

“You scolded me.”

Zhou Xuanlan paused, his face showing a bewildered expression.

Scolding his master?

No, he definitely wasn’t.

“No, it’s not what you think, Master. I didn’t mean that.”

Shen Liuxiang pulled his legs up, hugging his knees, his face buried in his legs. His shoulders trembled slightly, and a hint of sobbing filled his voice.

“You are scolding me.”

Zhou Xuanlan didn’t anticipate this response from Shen Liuxiang. He instantly panicked and completely forgot about the scent of someone else. He hastily put down the torn handkerchief.

His words stuttered, “I, I never meant…”

He covered his pale hand with his other hand, seeing a red mark encircling his wrist. His heart quivered slightly. “I’m sorry, Master. I’ve been rude. Please punish me.”

Shen Liuxiang’s cheeks were hidden between his knees, and his clear phoenix eyes blinked.

Thinking that he had probably lectured his disciple enough, it should be enough to make him realize that challenging his master’s authority and oppressing him were unacceptable.

He puffed up his cheeks slightly and, after a moment of contemplation, tears welled up in his eyes. He lifted his head.

“Will you scold me again in the future?”

Zhou Xuanlan met the tear-filled phoenix eyes, his heart churned with emotions, his voice slightly hoarse. “I’ve realized my mistake, Master. I won’t act that way again.”

Shen Liuxiang scrunched his nose as if not entirely satisfied and said, “I forgive you this time.”

After a pause, he added, “But you can help me with something as a punishment.”

He hadn’t noticed it in the mansion, but after returning, he recalled Wenren Qin’s expression at that time. He suspected that the other party had already noticed his fear of insects and was likely testing him with the story of the bug in his hair.

He was worried that Wenren Qin might use insects to intimidate him in the future when he couldn’t resist. Furthermore, if everyone knew about this weakness, it would pose a significant threat. He had to overcome it as best as he could.

Shen Liuxiang bit his lip, his phoenix eyes glistening slightly. “Can you catch some bugs to scare me?”

Perhaps scaring him repeatedly might desensitize him.

Zhou Xuanlan pondered for a moment and furrowed his brows whilst frowning, “Wenren Qin scared you with insects?”

Shen Liuxiang replied, “He might have found out.”

Zhou Xuanlan’s expression was shadowed and unclear. He raised his hand to brush aside the strands of Shen Liuxiang’s hair from his cheek and asked, “So, my guess is that he told you there was a bug in your hair. When he tried to help you remove it, he accidentally broke your hair tie. Is that right?”

Shen Liuxiang’s face displayed astonishment. It was exactly as he had described.

“He would do something like that,” Zhou Xuanlan murmured, his gaze lowered to hide the hint of malevolence in his eyes. He then curled his lips and added, “I’ll accompany you, Master, to build up your courage.”

He continued, “I have a subordinate who excels in sound manipulation techniques. Calling insects won’t be a problem for him. He can come at night. Let’s go outside the city to find a damp and cool place. We’ll let him summon the bugs there.”

Shen Liuxiang imagined a scenario where bugs crawled towards them in droves, accompanied by the sound of music. His face turned pale, and a sense of dread washed over him.

“Or maybe…”

“Is Master scared?”

Shen Liuxiang hesitated and put on a brave face, saying, “How is that possible? Tonight then, no problem.”

Just a few hours of enjoyment, yay.

After they had made their plan, Zhou Xuanlan went to inform his subordinate to come over. He left for a while and then returned, copying the incomplete prescription from the red handkerchief and handing it to Shen Liuxiang. Afterward, he crushed the handkerchief into pieces and left.

Once he had left, Shen Liuxiang counted the time on his fingers and realized how long it was until midnight. Feeling nervous, he convinced Xu Xingchen to accompany him to the streets for some diversion.

As dusk settled in, they took a turn and arrived at the Tianxiang Pavilion.

He ordered a table full of dishes for himself, practicing what he preached, and sighed as he ate.

Xu Xingchen didn’t touch his chopsticks and remarked with a cold smirk, “Why the sigh? Haven’t seen your beloved disciple all afternoon and can’t stand it?”

Shen Liuxiang used his chopsticks to pick up a delicate slice of fish and fed it into his mouth. He responded, “To be honest, the last person I want to see right now is him.”

Xu Xingchen’s expression changed slightly, his tone carrying a concealed trace of delight, “Did you have a falling out?”

“No,” Shen Liuxiang replied.

Xu Xingchen’s mood flipped in an instant. He coldly snorted, “I’m not eating. Lost my appetite. I’m going back to the Cloud Pavilion.”

Shen Liuxiang looked up and asked, “There’s a boat ride tonight. Aren’t you interested?”

There are three famous pavilions in Qilin City, the Qin Pavilion, the Painting Pavilion, and the Fragrance Pavilion. In the middle of every month, the girls from the three squares will take a boat out to ride on the lake.

Xu Xingchen responded, “Not interested.”

Shen Liuxiang clicked his tongue and recalled the original story, where Xu Xingchen was smitten with Su Baiche at first sight. He couldn’t help asking, “Do you have a preference for elegant beauties?”

Xu Xingchen glared at him, “I have grand ambitions, unlike you, who is confined by petty emotions.”

Shen Liuxiang: “?”

Shen Liuxiang was left baffled by this scolding and watched as Xu Xingchen abruptly stood up, tossed a few spiritual stones onto the table with a loud clatter, and left with a swish of his sleeves.

Perplexed, Shen Liuxiang shook his head and enjoyed the delicious meal by himself.

After eating his fill, the sky had already darkened. There was still some time until midnight, so he walked along the streets, following the crowd as they flocked towards the lakeside.

During the night, with the crescent moon hanging high, lanterns of various colors formed a ribbon of light that surrounded the vast lake. Floating lanterns adorned the water’s surface, emitting a faint glow akin to stars.

As the first boat arrived, the sound of a melodious pipa resonated across the lake. A group of people crowded on the lakeside pavilions, their voices full of joy. “It’s the Boat of the Qin Pavillion!”

Shen Liuxiang stood behind, unable to see anything due to the sea of people. He looked around and spotted a large tree. He jumped up onto it to get a better view.

By now, the second boat had arrived, carrying a group of beautiful young ladies who were playing and frolicking. Shen Liuxiang watched as he took a bite of a carrot.

The last boat, representing the Fragrance Pavillion arrived, and the cheers from the surroundings instantly intensified.

“It’s Miss Nan Xiang, the number one beauty of our Qilin City!”

“I heard she likes the City Lord, but unfortunately, he’s indifferent.”

“Nonsense! Miss Nan Xiang and Commander Xiong already have an engagement. They are destined to be together.”

Shen Liuxiang looked towards the boat and saw a graceful woman carrying a lantern stepping out. The crowd by the lakeside erupted into excitement.

“Nan Xiang! Nan Xiang!”

Nan Xiang raised her willow brows and waved her sleeve lightly, causing a sprinkle of sparkling dust to fall from her cuff. Carried by the night breeze, it floated towards the lakeside.

The crowd’s eyes turned red in an instant as they exclaimed, “Fragrance, such a delightful fragrance!”

Shen Liuxiang sniffed the lingering fragrance in the air and felt a flicker of interest.

This scent was mixed with various ingredients, with one particular spice standing out like stars surrounding the moon. He had never smelled anything like it before.

After a brief thought, Shen Liuxiang’s eyes lit up slightly. If this scent were added to the Illusory Pill, it might have an extraordinary effect.

He cast a final glance at the departing boat and jumped down from the tree. He quickly followed the crowd to the Fragrance Pavilion.

As he arrived, he adjusted his mask and entered the pavilion. Inside, it was mainly frequented by young women. When they saw a man enter, their curious gazes landed on him.

Shen Liuxiang didn’t spot Nan Xiang and busied himself examining the displayed spices and smelling their aromas. However, he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.

He glanced at the second floor and was about to head up when a maid stopped him. “You cannot enter without permission.”

Shen Liuxiang blinked his eyes, then left the Fragrance Pavilion. The next moment, his figure reappeared on the second floor. He stopped in front of a room and released his spiritual sense. Upon sensing no one inside, he entered.

The room seemed to belong to a young lady. On the dressing table, there were various cosmetics. Shen Liuxiang picked up one of them and took a sniff, his expression changing subtly.

This was the scent he was looking for. He retrieved a handkerchief, scooped out a bit of the powder, and left a spirit stone on the table as payment.

Just as he was about to leave, the door suddenly opened.

Hearing voices, Shen Liuxiang’s face changed. He quickly surveyed his surroundings and, in the blink of an eye, hid beneath the bed.

Entering the room were a man and a woman.

The woman was likely Nan Xiang, but as for the other person, Shen Liuxiang guessed that he was Xiong You, the capable right-hand man of the Seventh Demon King. Nan Xiang’s fiancé.

In a moment, the door closed with a soft click.

The woman’s gentle voice sounded, “Lord Che, why hasn’t the wound on your forehead healed? Let me apply some medicine. You were injured trying to save Xiang’er.”

Shen Liuxiang’s heart skipped a beat.

Lord Che?

Isn’t that Commander Xiong?

Accidentally stumbling upon a shocking secret, he held his breath, realizing that he couldn’t leave now.

“The scars on a man’s body are his badge of honor; there’s no need for medicine,” the man’s lazy voice echoed. With his words, he grasped Nan Xiang’s delicate hand and placed it on his forehead, his thin lips curving into a mischievous smile.

“Feel it, do you like it?”

“To get hurt for you is my honor.”

Nan Xiang’s cheeks instantly flushed as she gazed at the man before her with affection.

The man, Lord Che, emitted an aura reminiscent of the powerful demon Zhu Yan. The scent compelled those around to submit involuntarily. She couldn’t help but think of the Sixth Demon King, Zhu Yan. She wondered about the relationship between the two.

She couldn’t resist pressing herself against him, her gaze hinting at a kiss. She brushed her lips against his jawline.

An intoxicating fragrance filled the air, and the man’s expression changed. He held the back of her head, pulling her into a deep kiss.

Underneath the bed, Shen Liuxiang’s expression became peculiar.

Lord Che’s voice sounded somewhat familiar, but the intentionally lowered tone was like a mist, making it hard for him to remember who the speaker was.

As he was pondering, he heard Nan Xiang’s delicate gasps from the room. “Lord Che, ah, don’t rush.”

The man’s voice carried a hint of amusement. “Who’s the one rushing?”

Nan Xiang pouted coquettishly. “Lord, you’re so naughty, teasing me with your words.”

“I don’t want to tease you with just words,” the man pulled her slender waist towards him, carrying the beauty to the bedside. He embraced her, his voice low.

“I only want to tease you in bed.”

The bed creaked under their weight, and beneath it, Shen Liuxiang’s expression stiffened.

Damn.

It’s… a live erotic scene.

As he contemplated whether to cover his ears or not, he heard Nan Xiang’s gentle voice, as if trying to halt further actions. “Lord Che, ah, I don’t even know your name yet.”

With the beauty in his arms, the man’s only desire was to indulge in the moment. Without thinking, he blurted, “I’m called Su—”

Nan Xiang responded with a curious hum.

Then, he continued, “I’m called Che Baisu.”

Upon hearing this, Che Baisu was about to remove Nan Xiang’s last layer of clothing. Just then, sounds of footsteps echoed from the corridor outside.

Nan Xiang’s face turned pale. “It’s Xiong You!”

She hurriedly pushed the man away and threw her clothes at him. “Quick, hide!”

Che Bai Su’s expression darkened.

Damn, not again! Always at the most crucial moment!

Always just a moment away from success!!

Damn it!!!

Despite his annoyance, Che Baisu didn’t forget that he couldn’t reveal his identity. He quickly put on his undergarments.

At that moment, the door was pushed open with a loud bang.

Realizing there was no time to escape, Che Baisu grabbed his outer clothes, scanned the room quickly, and then darted under the bed.

The light under the bed was dim, and the space was narrow. After hiding, Che Bai Su released a sigh of relief. However, something suddenly felt amiss.

He turned his head, and to his utter shock, he found himself staring at a pig’s face.

Che Baisu: “?!?!”

Shen Liuxiang: “…”
