42 – Crazy Bastard

“Who told you to come in here? What did you steal from there?”

“What do you mean steal? I did nothing of the sort.”

As Scarlett recoiled, Arnold’s friend said.

“Your maid got divorced. So, it’s true.”

From the beginning, Arnold’s friends called Scarlett, the maid of Arnold’s house. Scarlett thought it was a relief that she got married as soon as she became an adult whenever she saw Arnold’s bad-tempered friends.

Scarlett was about to take Isaac away, but Arnold stopped them.

“Where are you going? I’m not done talking.”

The stench of alcohol reeked from Arnold. Arnold’s friends surrounded Isaac.

“You’re coming out of the house now, huh,” he jeered.

Then he reached for Isaac and tried to take off the bandage. Isaac dodged quickly, not realising his movements were too agile. Scarlett hurriedly pacified them.

“I dragged Isaac out. Now he has to rest.….”

But Arnold took the toy from her hand.

“What’s this?”

“My mother made it.”

When Scarlett tried to grab it back, Arnold threw it at another friend.

As Scarlett tried to get it, Arnold tripped and knocked her over. Isaac hardened his expression and turned his head to the sound as if he knew she was falling.

“…Scarlett?”

Scarlett then rose and apologised to Arnold without any time to feel pain.

“I’m sorry. I won’t come back.”

Arnold bent down and pushed Scarlett’s forehead with his finger, and her back hit a tree.

“Are you sure you’re reflecting on yourself?”

“Yes.”

“Why did you bring Isaac out and make him suffer?”

“I won’t.”

As Scarlett replied, Arnold clutched her chin.

“If you’re reflecting on yourself, get down on your knees first….Ugh!”

At that moment, Arnold fell to the floor. Isaac knocked him down and kicked him in succession. Arnold screamed as the boot of Isaac’s foot met his face. Arnold’s friends ran and caught him, but it was not easy to overcome Isaac without all of them collaborating.

“Isaac! Behind you!”

As Scarlett shouted, Isaac swivelled his hand behind and grabbed Arnold’s arm, which had been outstretched to assault him.

Then, he swung his other hand, grabbed his hair, and beat his face with his fist.

Coming to her senses, Scarlett grabbed Isaac’s arm as he pummelled Arnold’s bloody face.

“Isaac, stop it. He’s going to die!”

As soon as she caught him, Isaac stopped, and Arnold covered his face with his hands and shrieked.

“Crazy bastard. Get out of my house right now!”

Then Isaac spoke calmly.

“What are you talking about? This is my house.”

“Don’t you know my father is still your guardian? Do you think you’ll be safe like this?”

“If I die, do you think this family will be yours?”

Isaac’s words quieted everyone down.

Isaac continued in an angry voice.

“If I die, Scarlett will become the head of the household. And I won’t die alone. I’m going to kill you and your father. The only Crimson left will be Scarlett.”

Even Scarlett’s eyes widened with surprise at Isaac’s words.

Arnold’s voice trembled, feeling threatened.

“What the hell are you talking about….crazy bastard.”

Isaac followed Arnold’s voice, wiped his bloody hands on his clothes, and grabbed Arnold’s neck again as he tried to push him away.

“I was originally dirty and vulgar; like you always say, I sold your sister and lived comfortably. But now I’m going to be a little uncomfortable.”

“Ugh!”

Arnold wanted to take Isaac’s hand off, but he couldn’t overcome his strength. He didn’t know how strong Isaac was because he was always lying down. But Isaac was taller than Arnold, and his hands, as pale as his face, had a grip he had never felt before.

Isaac, strangling Arnold, let him go just before he lost his breath. Arnold’s friends rushed him to the mansion.

Isaac grinned as he turned to Scarlett.

“Let’s go.”

Scarlett hugged the toy and looked at Isaac, bemused.

Isaac’s face, fist, white shirt, and blood splashed on his face looked endearing and innocent again.

“Sorry, were you surprised?”

“Why are you beating people like this?”

“People...” Isaac said in embarrassment.

Then he reached for Scarlett, worried.

“To me, there’s no one in the world I can call a human person except you.”

“...”

“You’re the only one in my world. I told you; I can do anything for you.”

Scarlett’s fingertips trembled at his words.

She was deeply grateful that Isaac Crimson, who had lived in the attic for a long time, had grown up to be a sweet and warm person. It was amazing to grow up so kind-hearted in this situation, but as her parents were, she thought it was because her brother was a warm person by nature. Isaac’s behaviour, now seen by Scarlett, was never ordinary.

Still, as Isaac approached worriedly, Scarlett struggled to raise the trembling corners of her mouth.

“Still…still….”

She couldn’t figure out what to say to Isaac. It was impossible.
