Lou Wei had never expected that when he picked up his mobile phone one day, the system actually reminded him to perform an update to the on-screen Quick Ball System to a humanoid version.

He watched the forty seconds user guide video. However, the video provided almost zero explanation specifically on the humanoid system. It only reminded him to take good care of the humanoid system and what the system can do for him.

In summary, the scope of the functions that the system can do were –

“Whatever you desire, your Quick Ball System will be able to do anything for you on the internet.”

As soon as the forty seconds user guide video on this mobile phone screen ended, Lou Wei saw a man as tall as his thumb standing at the bottom of the screen. He had his back facing him and he carried the QQ Penguin down from the mobile phone screen and held it in his arms.

Is today’s hi-tech technology this hardcore? Even the Quick Ball can move by itself.

He tapped on the screen and saw that the tiny man on the screen reacted in a humane manner. He ducked and turned his head around cautiously to look at him. Although Lou Wei did not show it on his face, he was actually shocked the moment he saw the miniature man’s face clearly.

This system…is very realistic.

He had a delicate and beautiful face with watery puppy eyes. His appearance was completely in line with the Asian aesthetic. His body figure ratio was also near perfect. Lou Wei could actually see the patterns on the tiny man’s shirt clearly.

How did they come up with such a solid 4D character? Is there already a software company that is capable of mastering such a technology?

Lou Wei found it unbelievable.

But the tiny man seemed like he was terrified of him. They just stared at each other for a second and he was already crouching at the bottom of the screen in fright.

He dragged the penguin and quickly leaped behind the frame on the side of the mobile phone screen, sticking his head out to look at him, exposing his pair of eyes only.

The hairs that stuck out were swayed up and down. He looked like a frightened cat.

The QQ Penguin followed him and stuck out his head from the phone’s frame, staring at him with it’s blinking oval-shaped eyes. The red dot with the number ‘1’ was still on top of it’s head. It even vibrated from time to time.

Two pairs of lucid eyes stared straight at him, Lou Wei actually found that…they were a little adorable.

President Lou, who has been colder than others since young could not find a suitable tone to start the conversation.

He was silent for a while and he tried to speak softly as gently as possible, “Hi, my name is Lou Wei.”

Lou Wei thought of the ‘Quick Ball humanoid System User Guide – Section 1’ shown on his mobile phone just now:

[You need to treat the humanoid System like your best friend as he will be by your side all the time and will be the friend who can keep your secrets.]

He said softly, “I am this mobile phone’s…”

Lou Wei searched his head to find a suitable term, “User.”

So it appeared that Wei Lou was the person that the female digital voice that Wen Fan heard was speaking to earlier on.

Wen Fan looked at the ‘Giant’ in front of him. Although he looked handsome, he was too lofty that made others stressful just from looking at him.

Wen Fan who had been working part-time

But at the same time, a semi-transparent speech bubble appeared on top of his head. Whenever he opened his mouth to say something, whatever he said would be displayed as words on the speech bubble. It could even show emoticons.

Wen Fan stared at the speech bubble which looked like a little white cloud on top of his head ‘du-du-du-du’ with some words forming on it.

It was what he had said earlier on, “My name is Wen Fan~”

as a programmer stared at Lou Wei’s strict looking facial features and sturdy body figure that couldn’t be concealed underneath the clothing. He felt his heart racing wildly. He still didn’t dare to show his head as the programmer’s social phobia had reached its peak. He held onto the mobile phone’s frame tightly.

He could sense that Lou Wei wasn’t even speaking loudly and his breathing was shallow. But the voice that he heard from the mobile phone screen was actually as loud as thunder.

Just when Wen Fan struggled to get used to the giant’s voice and wanted to open his mouth to talk, he was shocked to find that he totally could not make any sound. It turned out that inside the mobile phone screen was an enclosed soundless space!

Wei Lou had not expected that the humanoid System had such a humane name. He was a little startled. But the tiny man on the screen did not wait for him to talk and another speech bubble came up, “I am a real person!”

Wei Lou, “…”

It seemed that this is a system that owned a dream.

He followed the system’s statement and nodded slowly, “Yeah, you are real.”

His tone was even a bit sincere.

Wen Lan also noticed that Wei Lou does not believe him. He even ignored the fact Wei Lou had that aura of someone who is not easily approachable and urgently wanted to prove his identity, “…I am a real human. I am a fresh graduate from An Qiao University. I fell asleep and I don’t understand how I ended up here.”

Wei Lou was the founder of the country’s most popular gaming company. And he had also developed a lot of mobile Sim games. In order to enhance the gaming experience, a lot of time they had created all sorts of background stories for the Sim characters which made those characters think that they had ‘mistakenly entered a mobile phone’.

Now that when the humanoid Version of the Quick Ball System said such a thing, he only felt that this design was very real. But he totally did not believe it.

Wen Fan spoke, “You can search it. I graduated from An Qiao University in 2014, Computing Class 3.”

Wei Lou frowned but remained quiet.

Wen Fan quickly added, “I also participated in the school’s innovative designing competition and I won the first prize and got a four-year scholarship. You can look up for my name in An Qiao University’s scholarship award name list.”

An Qiao University was the only 985 institute in H Province. (T/N: Project 985 is a boosting project to promote the Chinese higher education system as called for by President Jiang Zemin at the 100th anniversary of Peking University on May 4, 1998 . The objective is to develop, in cooperation with local government, several top universities to be world-leading) The news on their yearly scholarship award was published transparently.

Lou Wei clicked on his screen and searched for ‘Wen Fan’ on the UC Web Browser in front of the tiny man on the screen.

The first news that appeared was:

‘Breaking News, how stressful is the life of a programmer? Twenty-three years old fresh graduate, Mr Wen overworked, and went unconscious during his internship. Up until today, he had not regained consciousness. 996 and programming, which one scarier? (T/N: 996 refers to the working schedule of working 12 hours a day (9 am to 9 pm) and six days a week.)

The standard title shown on the UC browser made the person who read it trembling.

Wen Fan: “…”

Wei Lou: “…”

Wei Lou took the phone and sat down beside the office desk. He supported his chin with his hand and said in a calm voice, “So, you are…Mr Wen.”

Wen Fan looked at his picture in the news article with his eyes censored, making him look like a criminal.

He replied, “…Yes.”

Wen Fan pulled his hair irritably. His initially delicate hairstyle was all messed up. He hugged his head and crouched on the browser’s webpage, suddenly feeling very weak.

Wen Fan could not accept that a normal person who took a nap during lunch break woke up as software inside a mobile phone system.

The news reported that he went unconscious on 8th February, which was yesterday. Meaning to say today was already the next day’s morning.

The disappearance of the half-day was like some sort of a forced omen. But such an unscientific event had left him powerless to do anything about it. And his brain had just been downloaded with a large amount of internet knowledge by the ‘so-called update’. He had a dreaded feeling that he had completely merged with the internet and was unable to become human again.

Wen Fan lowered his head and read the content of the news article. His morale was very low. He didn’t even care about the QQ Penguin in his hands and had put it aside. Lou Wei who was holding the phone in his hand felt unease as he looked at the tiny youth hugging his knees sitting at the bottom of the screen. He slightly frowned his cold brows and wanted to say something but he hesitated.

It was beyond Lou Wei’s knowledge when a human had suddenly become the software system of his handphone. But when he gazed at the tiny man on the screen, he did not feel frightened at all but rather…a bit worried.

Lou Wei was also shocked by how communicative he was today. He unexpectedly felt worried for someone whom he had just met once in such a magical way.

Wen Fan, who had his back facing Lou Wei, did not notice the expression of the mobile phone’s owner. He sat on the screen, reaching out his hands, poking anxiously on the UC page. The orange squirrel on the UC Web Browser jumped off the title bar, hugged his arm with its tail.

A man and a squirrel with their back toward Lou Wei, sitting on the mobile phone screen. The scene was funny yet sad at the same time. Wei Lou had never comforted anyone. He wanted to say something but he didn’t know what to say.

At this instant, a dark cloud suddenly appeared on top of Wen Fan’s head. Before Lou Wei could warn him, he saw a few gold thunders suddenly emerge from the cloud and the whole mobile phone started to vibrate. The rain suddenly came pouring down like cats and dogs on Wen Fan’s head.

Although the rain disappeared as soon as it was near Wen Fan’s head, the atmosphere that it rendered was extremely desolate. The mobile phone’s speaker suddenly played ‘Er Quan Yin Yue’. The sad and bitter music combined with the desolate atmosphere, spreaded across the entire office.

Two lines of red wording appeared beside the dark cloud:

Warning! Warning! Your humanoid Quick Ball System is now undergoing a mental and health issue!

Lou Wei twitched his lips and used his index finger to gently rub Wen Fan’s back. Lou Wei who had never comforted others said as gently as possible, “Don’t be sad. I’ll help you.”Wen Fan, who had been hanging his head low, did not notice the dark cloud above his head. When he heard Lou Wei’s words, he paused his sadden emotion and looked at Lou Wei while hugging the squirrel.

“Do you really mean it?”

Lou Wei was startled when he saw the tiny man’s eyes bright and reliance stare on him. He nodded slowly. Actually he was just simply saying just now. He did not know how to help Wen Fan. But when he saw his delighted eyes, Lou Wei chocked on his frustrating words and responded.

The effect of his response was surprisingly good. The dark cloud on top of the tiny man disappeared and was replaced by a small little arching rainbow. The rainbow streaked from Wen Fan’s left side to the right side and slowly disappeared on the screen. Even the bright red wordings on the side disappeared as well.

Lou Wei unexpectedly felt a bit of excitement in his heart. He secretly sighed as he was wondering what was wrong with him. Wen Fan also saw the rainbow that was gradually fading on top of his head. This had made him suddenly realize that he was the same as the QQ Penguin and other animals on the desktop showing their emotion clearly on the screen.

Wen Fan: “…”

He secretly turned his side to look at Lou Wei and discovered that the lofty man had sat in front of the screen staring hard at him.

Lou Wei’s facial features were swift and fierce. The corner of his mouth was flat and his expression was solemn but not angry. And he had a kind of maturity that exceeded his age.

Wen Fan just realized that the owner of the mobile phone that was in front of him does not seem like an ordinary man. Although his age was not too old, he had a strong aura.

Moreover…the name Lou Wei sounded a bit familiar.

Wen Fan searched his mind for the name Lou Wei. But he had forgotten that he was now the mobile phone system that was already linked with the internet. All he need to do was to use his brain slightly and all information regarding Lou Wei would be downloaded directly into his brain.

[Lou Wei, studied at An Qiao University in 2013. He studied mobile gaming design in his first year of university. Founded remote technology and LouV gaming studio. The games that his company created was ranked no.1 in the online gaming industry for three consecutive years. And his gaming studio was voted as the most popular gaming studio for four consecutive years.]

The data on the internet also showed a profit record for the gaming industry in 2019. The ARPG action role-playing game ‘Heaven’s Dream’ that Lou Wei personally created drew in a total profit of US$ 1.85 billion in 2019, which was about RMB 12.95 billion. It was equivalent to the total profit of all others ARPG online games in the country.

‘Heaven’s Dream’ was about six different nations fighting among each other to rule the world. Each nation had their own capability. Some can fight beasts, some can speak in different languages while others can turn stones into gold…Players can choose a nation as their identity and they can follow any plots that they like to complete different achievements.

The game had an extremely high level of freedom. Players can get married regardless of their genders. If both players are men and women from different nations, their children will be born with the capability of the two nations.

If a player chose the Kingdom route, they can be the overlord. If they chose the Wuxia route, they can be the Master of Martial Art. They can even build a new nation through their own effort and can even invite other players to enter the new nation that they had created.

But once the new nation is established, there will be a danger that it would be attacked by other nations. If the nation was destroyed, all the accounts of the executives and nobles would be banned and the player could only reopen a new account.

International online gaming platform has ever evaluated ‘Heaven’s Dream’. They said it was the game of a ‘new world’.

The key point was, ‘Heaven’s Dream’ was Wen Fan’s favourite online game. Nothing beats it! Actually, he was still playing it after he got off from work the night before he went unconscious.

When Wen Fan realized that he was now inside the mobile phone of the creator of ‘Heaven’s Dream’ and the youth in front of him was the genius behind ‘Heaven’s Dream’, Wen Fan suddenly had a feeling as if he suddenly woke up to find Mr Perfect laying beside his bed.

This is s dreamlike!

He even felt that the floor beneath his feet was floating and he was in a daze.

Lou Wei suddenly noticed that red hearts appeared around the tiny man on the screen. The red hearts were getting more and more that it had covered all the apps on the screen. The QQ Penguin that followed behind Wen Lan was lifted up by a heart and it floated halfway up the screen. It slowly rose until it was stuck on the top of the screen.

Wen Fan also saw the field of red hearts. Before he managed to swing his arms to break up those red hearts, he felt a sense of exhaustion in his heart. It was as if he had run wildly for dozens of miles and he was so exhausted that he couldn’t even breath.

Everything around him started to shake. He could even fall asleep if he closed his eyes.

Wen Fan began to sway and the next second, he looked like he was about to fall onto the floor. Lou Wei leaned closer to the mobile phone screen and saw a gold spiral pattern appeared on top of the tiny man’s head. Golden stars even appeared in his eyes. It looked like he was dizzy.

Lou Wei felt something bad was about to happen. He quickly reached out his hand intending to hold on to the tiny man who could no longer stand steadily. But obviously his finger could not go into the screen, he could only see the tiny man swaying and fell onto the ground with a plop.

After that…

Lou Wei saw a string of ‘zZZ’ symbols flowing out from the top of Wen Lan’s head indicating that he was sleeping.

……..

He fell asleep.

A line of black wording appeared at the right side of the mobile phone screen: Your Quick Ball System is already in sleep mode.

There was a bracket behind the notification,

[Constant care and interaction with the Quick Ball System can maintain the system’s health, increasing the system’s activity time.]

It’s really similar to a mobile pet.

Wei Lou didn’t make any noise and stared at the tiny man who stuck out his butt, sleeping on the floor. He then changed the phone into silent mode and even turned off the vibration.

The fat QQ Penguin on the screen even thoughtfully took off the red scarf from its neck and placed it on Wen Fan’s body. It then walked back to the upper right corner of the screen as it whimpered.

Wei Lou wanted to laugh as he saw it, but he didn’t realize that his lips were already curling.

He sat there thinking for a while. He put the phone on his office desk, took another phone on the table and went to the balcony to make a call.

The person who answered the phone had obviously just gone through a ‘war of words’. He was still a little rude with his speech, “Wei-ge, what is it about? I am now in discussion with the designing department on the plan. Why are you calling now?”

Zhao Mengke was Lou Wei’s university classmate. He followed Lou Wei to establish the gaming studio before he graduated and he was responsible for producing the game’s plot. He was bold and imaginative, but he speak without thinking when he was excited.

Before Lou Wei could even open his mouth, Zhao Mengke quickly said, “Is it that I need to work overtime again? You need to pay me overtime pay for working overtime!”

“…” He should have sent him a message instead.

Lou Wei drew in a deep breath, “Did you notice anything wrong with your mobile phone’s Quick Ball System today…these few days?”

“Anything wrong?” Zhao Mengke minimized the call window and returned to the white Quick Ball on the desktop’s screen and tapped on it. A few smaller balls appeared and he tapped on them for a while and once again returned to the main screen. It seemed to be the same as before.

“No, it’s operating as usual. What’s wrong Wei-ge?”

Lou Wei was thinking about the ‘humanoid Quick Ball’ on his mobile phone screen that was sleeping soundly with a ‘zZZ’ symbol floating on the top of his head. He didn’t say anything.

On the other end of the phone, “Wei-ge? Wei-ge?? Are you depressed???”

“…” Lou Wei lifted his hand to press between his eyebrows, “Had your Quick Ball System changed to humanoid mode already?”

“What?!” Zhao Mengke was not able to react in the first second. It took him a while to understand what Lou Wei meant. He immediately refuted in a loud voice, “My bro, who in this country is able to produce a humanoid Quick Ball now? Even voice intelligence was not perfect yet. Moreover, a humanoid Quick Ball still needs to be separated into animated, 2D and 3D. This would require a very huge phone memory to operate.”

Then what’s going on with my phone…

Lou Wei remembered that he bought the same model of phone as Zhao Mengke.

President Lou hesitated before he asked the last question, “Then can your Quick Ball speak?”

“???” Zhao Mengke, “…Bro, are you mad?”

“…”

Tut…tut…tut…

Lou Wei hung up the phone.
