“Well, Fanfan is the best.” Lou Wei found himself saying that.

He spoke with a tone as if he is coaxing a child.

Wen Fan felt the tips of his ears quivers when he heard him saying this. He’s definitely enjoying the complement.

Lou Wei called Lin Xiao and told him and the rest of the team to go home and take some rest. They don’t need to take any action over what happened on the internet. They only need to focus on gathering the evidence over the next two days to put in a lawsuit to sue Ke Yanan.

Although Lin Xiao couldn’t understand why Lou Wei didn’t want to delete the leaked news about ‘Compagnon’ quickly, he trusted that Lou Wei must have his own reasons. So, he didn’t pursue further and went home with the rest of the team.

Meanwhile, after Lou Wei passed down the instruction to Lin Xiao, he took Wen Fan back to the bedroom to rest.

He no longer browses any relevant information about Ke Yanan at all.

However, it’s certainly not going to be a quiet night for the various social media platforms on the internet.

Ke Yanan’s fans still want to defend their male god. But no matter how bad of a rating they recklessly gave to those games released by Yuancheng Technology, they had definitely provoked the gaming fans. Before Yuancheng Technology had enough capital to make it big, they made their first fortune by releasing mini games. And can you imagine how many young people nowadays never played mini games before?

Once the games received overly bad reviews, they may be taken off the shelves. Many game fans who could tolerate it before were fighting back hard. Some emotional fans began to make parody videos to insult Ke Yanan and uploaded them on various platforms.

That includes uploading his rubbish acting performances that were edited into mini clips onto various video websites.

Moreover, the criticisms that were directed to Lou Wei were now transferred to Ke Yanan. After all, it was him who was took the initiative to hit on Lou Wei in the video.

Most importantly, he leaked the gameplay and selling points of ‘Compagnon’. It’s almost impossible for him to get away with the offense of leaking product information of an interested business partner.

Even if Mingxi Entertainment forked big bucks to buy an army of people to post comments on the social media sites such as Douban, Weibo and etc to whitewash Ke Yanan’s image, to the eyes of other business partners, his credibility is already close to zero.

In addition to filming, his role as the spokesman is also a crucial source of income. But nobody would want to work with someone who is not trustworthy. Unless, they wanted to jeopardize their own business. So, the possibility of Ke Yanan getting an offer of becoming a spokesman is almost close to zero.

Besides, the way how Ke Yanan spoke in the video and the way he discriminates against women is enough to make him the worst male celebrity in the industry..

Even if Lou Wei or Yuancheng Technology let him off the hook, his career is already coming to an end and he is about to be taken off the limelight.

While Lou Wei and Wen Fan were sleeping, Ke Yanan was enduring Liu Jinxing’s scolding over the phone for leaking the information on ‘Compagnon’.

Liu Jinxing scolded, “What were you thinking? Didn’t I already warned you about posting on Weibo? Is your f*cking head full of sh*t?!”

Liu Jinxing has been helping Ke Yanan rise to fame since his debut. He had said and done even worse things in the early days, but Liu Jinxing has always turned a blind eye.

Why is he blaming him for what he has done now?

Ke Yanan twitched his mouth. But on the surface, he was ‘patiently’ coaxing Liu Jinxing, “I knew I was wrong. Can you help me settle this quickly? I won’t do this again next time.” He said in a tone that made every words sounded coquettish.

This is how he always use to deal with Liu Jinxing and it worked like a charm each and every time.

But this time, it doesn’t seem to work anymore.

After hearing his words, Liu Jinxing said impatiently, “Don’t even mention about next time. The company’s board of directors has already decided that you will take a rest from your career.”

Ke Yanan was taken aback. Just now, he was still thinking about what he wanted to post after regaining his access to Weibo to redeem his reputation. He didn’t expect these words to come out from Liu Jinxing’s mouth. It seemed as if his head had been pierced by a flash of lightning and everything went blank. He didn’t even have time to react.

“…What did you said?” His voice was trembling because he was anxious. He screamed, “Liu Jinxing, what did you just said?!”

Up until now, he still hasn’t realized the difference between his status with his sugar daddy’s.

Liu Jinxing was so furious that he found this laughable. Back then, he would definitely be willing to coax Ke Yanan. After all, when they are spending time together, Ke Yanan would still pretend to be obedient in front of him.

He never expected that when he called Lou Wei today, he was stepped over by him. And now, even when he is scolding Ke Yanan,  Ke Yanan dared raise his voice on him? Is he really that incapable of getting back at Lou Wei or Ke Yanan?

Liu Jinxing recalled why Lou Wei sounded so disdainful today. It is all because of Ke Yanan. He felt that it’s true that he had spoiled Ke Yanan.

Besides his amazing skill in bed and him being the most handsome celebrity in the company, this guy is not worth risking the company and not to mention the catastrophe that he left for the company today.

And so, he did the honor for Ke Yanan and repeated his words again, “You don’t need to do anything in the future. I will look for you when I feel better. If you make me happy, I’ll reward you with some money so that you can live comfortably.”

He’s implying that Ke Yanan can be his little lover. Other than that, there’s no need for him to do other things..

Investing a celebrity from debut to fame costed a fortune. Celebrities like Ke Yanan who need to keep on top of hot searches and top trends require a lot of money. Luckily, Ke Yanan managed to help the company earn twice the capitals earlier on. Otherwise, there’s no way that he would let him get away with this so easily.

The more Liu Jinxing thinks about it, the more he is convinced that he still has a bit of human touch left in him.

He didn’t even bother if Ke Yanan responded to him or not.

At this instant, Ke Yanan was so angry that he couldn’t speak. His chest was heaving hard and he had a dreaded feeling as if the sky is falling.

His usual arrogant and domineering temperament were completely gone. His body began to tremble.

His eyes which never look into others eyes were opened wide in horror now. He didn’t understand why this was happening. Isn’t Lou Wei just the boss of a new gaming company? Liu Jinxing usually brought him along to meet with many chairmans and he never show much appreciation either. Lou Wei is young and he is the boss of the new company. So, why is he different from others?!

Ke Yanan who is busy with dressing up and marketing every day has no idea how enthusiastic gaming fans are for the boss of the gaming industry. Especially bosses like Lou Wei, who is extremely considerate to the players when he publishes games, are in the realm of ‘only I can criticize my boss but you can’t’, and ‘I don’t like this game, but you don’t deserve to leave a poor rating.’

For many 2D fans and gaming fans, Ke Yanan definitely caused public outrage. Not to mention that he ruined the perfect image that he had been upholding and at the same time, he also threw away his credibility as a spokesperson.

Ke Yanan’s mind went blank. Liu Jinxing on the other end of the line is ready to hang up.

“By the way,” Liu Jinxing suddenly recalled something before he hung up. “You’ve offended Yuancheng Technology by leaking information regarding their unreleased game. You’ve violated the industry’s regulations. No one can help you get out of this. You’ll have to pay the penalty yourself. “

When Ke Yanan heard these, his vision suddenly blacked out.

He couldn’t think about any other thing besides the term, ‘penalty’. “That’s absurd! When I first signed the contract, you said that any penalty fee will be covered by the company! You must help me! You have to help me!”

Liu Jinxing snorted coldly. At this instant, he is speaking with a tone similar to how Ke Yanan spoke to Zhang Xuan, “Why aren’t you able to access the situation clearly? At the time when you ignored my instruction and posted on Weibo on your own account, you’ve already breached the company’s rule. Acting without permission is already considered a contract breach.” His voice gradually grew colder, “An An, you’ve brought this upon yourself.”

Liu Jinxing drinks and smokes every day, his voice doesn’t sound pleasant. His voice sounded extra greasy over the telephone receiver with poor sound quality.

If it was any normal day, Ke Yanan would have started to twitch his mouth and shun him. But now, he stared straight at the white wall beside him. Burying his facial features in the shadow of the light. He said in a voice that was extremely sweet, “President Liu, I want to see you.”

He didn’t wait for Liu Jinxing to speak. He quickly continued, “If you don’t want to come over, I can go to you.”

He said coquettishly, “I really miss you.”

But Liu Jinxing still remains silent. He didn’t say anything for a few seconds. Just when Ke Yanan couldn’t wait any longer and wanted to open his mouth to speak, Liu Jinxing eventually let out a long sigh and said in disdain, “Ke Yanan, if you’ve been this obedient from the very beginning, all this wouldn’t have happened. But it’s okay, I’ll still come looking for you if I remember you. After all…you still have the looks.”

He then hung up the phone.

     ————

The next morning when Wen Fan woke up, it was already noon. Lou Wei deliberately put the phone screen facing away from the sun. If Wen Fan didn’t step out from ‘The Sims’ mansion, and just stayed indoors, he would have thought it’s still nighttime.

He put away the virtual mansion and saw Lou Wei who was busy sorting out information about ‘Heaven’s Dream’.

Lou Wei’s computer is cluttered with the typesetting of the content for ‘Heaven’s Dream’ patch release, the evaluation report of his personal user experience, and the different data values of characters fights, weapon upgrades effects, and bugs on character’s special effects.

Previously when Wen Fan played ‘Heaven’s Dream’, ‘Heaven’s Dream’ team always mentioned that Lou Wei was the chief experience officer for the game. Lou Wei is the one who conducted the evaluation for each version. Wen Fan didn’t believe it. He didn’t expect that this turned out to be true.

Because he knew that conducting user experience is not just to experience a game, change skins. Instead, it is to fight different levels of characters using different equipment at different places with different attacks and also detect bugs across the entire map. In addition, they need to evaluate the smoothness of the gameplay with different skins. It is cumbersome work as it is necessary to keep a close eye on the data value of the characters, attacks, and even those critical hits that flash momentarily. It’s not as easy as it seems.

During Wen Fan’s University year, he ever worked on a part-time job doing games reviews.  But in the end, he stopped before he completed the task because it was too cumbersome and tiring. When you experience the game as a job, it is very difficult to feel the fun of the game.

From the day he played ‘Heaven’s Dream’ until now, he had always heard about Lou Wei’s evaluation report and player strategy for the game. Based upon this point, Wen Fan deeply respects Lou Wei.

Moreover, Lou Wei built the plotline and worldview of ‘Heaven’s Dream’ all by himself. That includes a total of six continents with over a hundred plotlines.

Wen Fan was absorbed by the data on Lou Wei’s computer. When Lou Wei noticed that Wen Fan had woke up, he immediately working, “You’re awake.”

“Yeah.” Wen Fan nodded. His ears swayed twice, and the golden-brown tail behind him wagged left and right.

Lou Wei reached out his hand and touched Wen Fan’s head, “You can play for a while. I need to finish up the rest of the stuff.”

The way he talked was as if he was coaxing a child who needed someone to play with. Wen Fan felt weirdly awkward when he heard it. He said, “You can get back to your work. There’s no need to worry about me.” But the ears on his head stood up.

Lou Wei gently grazed the screen on Wen Fan’s ear, as if he was rubbing his puppy ears. He then began to tidy up the data values.

In order to kill some time, Wen Fan clicked on Weibo and then began to search for information about Ke Yanan and ‘Compagnon’.

To his surprise, someone seemed to be suppressing Ke Yanan’s news. There’s not even a single news about him on Weibo hot search. However, when Wen Fan clicked on topics related to Ke Yanan, he noticed that the number of threads related to him was obviously higher than those of the Top 3 hot search.

Obviously, someone has been deliberately suppressing Ke Yanan’s news.

Wen Fan really didn’t expect that Mingxi Entertainment would still protect Ke Yanan. But when he placed his hand on Weibo, and picked up the billions of information feeds from Weibo, he realized he had it wrong.

Mingxi Entertainment is not protecting Ke Yanan. The reason why they are suppressing all the news about Ke Yanan is obviously to keep him out of the spotlight, not giving him any chance to get any exposure.

Wen Fan has no doubt about Mingxi Entertainment’s intention.

After all, the incident had almost ruined the reputation of Mingxi Entertainment. It is indeed a wise choice to abandon the pawn in order to protect the general during critical moments.

However, there was still a lot of news about the dark history of Ke Yanan on Weibo. Back then when Ke Yanan was at the peak of his fame, once that news was posted, the relevant PR team would report them immediately. But now, since Ke Yanan’s hot search and posts were being suppressed, no one is dealing with all those dark history news.

Wen Fan is getting tired of seeing all those new information.

QQ Penguin, kangaroo, and other small animals gathered next to Wen Fan, reading Ke Yanan’s dark history on Weibo.

Wen Fan glanced at the APP shelf above his head, and saw the quick APP link to ‘Fruit Ninja’. It is a mini-game that does not take up any memory and can be played without downloading.

Wen Fan extended his hand to pick up the knife on the APP icon and sliced the watermelon in the icon box. He then divided the watermelon among himself and the surrounding animals.

They continued to browse Weibo.

When he reads Weibo now, he can do it without flicking the page with his hands at all. He controls Weibo entirely using his mind. All he needs to do is to think about which piece of information he wants to see, and the information will be displayed automatically. So even if he holds the melon with both hands, it will not affect him browsing Weibo.

However, Ke Yanan’s black history seems to be those that are commonly seen in the entertainment industry. After reading them for a while, Wen Fan felt like switching to watch Bilibili TV instead.

Just when he was about to quit Weibo, ‘Weibo’ above his head twitched the corner of its big eye uncomfortably.

“What’s the matter?”

Wen Fan stepped forward and took Weibo in his arms. Its big eye with red cockscomb headgear twitched for a long while before stopping.

Wen Fan sensed that something is wrong with Weibo. He checked and found that there were suddenly a lot of empty accounts with incomplete information created in Weibo. However, these accounts were able to post messages.

The topics that they posted were regarding celebrities in the entertainment industry receiving unfair treatment and the shutting out of celebrities from the entertainment industry. Some of the terms used were a little extreme that could be reported once posted. The topics were somehow linked to Mingxi Entertainment and there were also hints about the boss of Mingqi Entertainment abandoning celebrities for not willing to play along in his game of ‘unspoken rules’.

This instantly became sensational news. The crowd who were eating melons while reading on Weibo didn’t stop eating but started another round of melon eating. Someone even pointed out that Ke Yanan might be the ‘abandoned child’ that was mentioned in the post for refusing to give in to the ‘unspoken rule’.

The other topic was an explanation on Ke Yanan’s post yesterday. The post explained that he was just simply giving a brief breakdown about the plus points of all the fine details and black technology of ‘Compagnon’.

Netizens from related industries all forwarded the core functions of ‘Compagnon’ that were leaked. Some even researched the various possible methods and settings of the gameplay of ‘Compagnon’.

Wen Fan doesn’t even need to guess who is behind this. There’s only one person who is so keen to bring down both Mingqi Entertainment and Yuancheng Technology.

Based on the selfie that Ke Yanan uploaded, Wen Fan was certain that Ke Yanan posted the post from his home. Wen Fan was able to track his IP address and grid his location accurately through the internet. Sure enough, he saw Ke Yanan through the camera on his computer and he was staring nervously at the computer.

His once handsome face looked particularly haggard without any makeup.

Ke Yanan seemed to be drained of energy overnight. However, there was a weird and scary light that glowed in his eyes when he stared straight at the computer screen. Even though Wen Fan knew that he couldn’t see him, his gaze still made him feel uncomfortable.

However, Wen Fan did not forget his goal.

He tracked Ke Yanan’s IP and mailing address to search for all the contents that he sent out from yesterday until today using that computer. His search landed him on a newly opened marketing company – Huazong Jinxiang Marketing Company.

It is a new marketing company that has just been established a year ago.

Judging from the post published by Ke Yanan, the two are working for mutual benefits. Ke Yanan let Huazong Jinxiang Marketing Company help him to make a comeback and help him to destroy Lou Wei’s Yuancheng Technology by destroying their plan to release ‘Compagnon’. In addition, the marketing fee that Huazong Jinxiang Marketing Company asked for, turned out to be 1 million only.

Ke Yanan is now standing in the teeth of the storm. In order to make a comeback, he had pulled some complicated strategies to influence others. However, the price that Huazong Jinxiang Marketing Company asked for is significantly lower than the market price. No matter how Wen Fan looks at it, it just seems…unrealistic. In fact, it seems more like a charity price.

He continued to dig deeper into the Huazong Jinxiang Marketing Company by tracking down its location, IP address, as well as communication location when Ke Yanan posted the message. Wen Fan successfully entered the intranet of Huazong Jinxiang Marketing Company and he was able to truly understand the company’s internal data.

He discovered that this company is actually a foreign-funded enterprise. All their employees were foreigners and the number of employees in their organization is very odd. A company with a capital reserve of thirty million dollars only has a total of fourteen employees.

It looks like…a luxury empty shell.

Wen Fan’s first reaction was that Ke Yanan had been deceived. But when he looked at the constantly rising new and empty accounts on Weibo, and then looked at the posts that they released regarding the celebrity who was threatened by a certain entertainment company in Country Z, the ‘reasonable analysis’ of how Ke Yanan’s financial sponsor threatened and suppressed Ke Yanan and the action of how they published the detailed content of ‘Compagnon’ to different platform companies and personal Weibo homepages.

He wasn’t so sure that they were really some scammers.

Wen Fan is a little skeptical.

Could it really be that they are a charity marketing company?

Wen Fan carried the UC squirrel and the little red fox from Firefox web browser from the APPs shelf. The white cheetah from ‘CM Browser’ saw Wen Fan’s action. It leaped next to Wen Fan from the APPs shelf.

It appeared strong and healthy with a nice body curve. It is definitely the most handsome cheetah that Wen Fan has ever seen.

As soon as the CM Browser approached Wen Fan, the other browsers next to Wen Fan began to tremble. UC’s little squirrel is still doing okay, but Firefox has already curled itself up into a big furball.

Wen Fan had no choice but to suppress his desire to touch the cheetah. He uncurled Firefox and then carried the few browsers. He started to check the information of Huazhong Jinxiang’s employees via the browsers. However, he was only able to gather some detailed information on a few employees that were from Country Z, there was only limited information on the upper management staff. The only information available was that they were from Country A, their names and how much capital they had invested.

Wen Fan wanted to check for more information on the internet. However, he quickly realized that he was unable to log into the internet!?! Not only that, but he also realized that he couldn’t access Bing or log into some information websites.

His system capabilities can only be used within the country! Moreover, the moment he clicks opened the webpage, even if it means doing it manually, he still couldn’t enter the webpage.

This discovery made Wen Fan aware of the limitations of his abilities for the very first time. The ears on his head trembled, the tail behind him went stiff, and his heart cramped a little.

Just when Lou Wei was about to take a short break, he turned his head and saw Wen Fan holding the little fox and little squirrel on the screen, leaning against the white cheetah, scratching his head.

He appeared anxious.

Lou Wei pulled his office chair closer to the mobile phone, and asked in a gentle voice, “What’s the matter?”

Wen Fan was still very focused on thinking about this Huazhong Jinxiang. He was startled when he heard Lou Wei’s voice.

He turned around to look at Lou Wei and quickly explained his findings while clenching his fist angrily, “Darn, I can’t even go over the firewall!”

Lou Wei thought for a while, “Let me do it.”

Lou Wei opened the browser with his computer and Wen Fan watched as he entered some firewall prompt codes and kept switching to new networks.

At first, Wen Fan could understand what Lou Wei was doing in order to turn off the firewall. However, as time passed, Wen Fan couldn’t understand what Lou Wei had entered. Perhaps, it’s because of the restriction to access the internet, he simply couldn’t read those inputs in a foreign language at all.

It’s similar to reading Chinese characters but not understanding the meaning.

Lou Wei sat in front of the computer with his slender yet powerful fingers constantly jumping on the keyboard. The computer screen switches every two minutes.

Even though Wen Fan couldn’t understand how Lou Wei switched the network, he could understand what he’s trying to do, “Are you hacking the internet system?”

Lou Wei replied in a low voice, “Otherwise, we won’t be able to dig into their information.”

Wen Fan was in a daze as he watched Lou Wei’s swift hand movement, “So, you’re a hacker?!”

Lou Wei responded with a deep smirk, “A game developer who’s bad at hacking is not a good programmer.”

Wen Fan, “…”  Makes sense.

Ten minutes later.

Lou Wei stopped working and stared at the computer desktop with his furrowed brows. After hesitating for a moment, he turned the computer screen to Wen Fan, “So this is it.”

Wen Fan turned his head to look at him, “What’s wrong?”

Lou Wei fixed his stare at a certain paragraph of foreign text on the screen. His voice turned ice-cold, “Those foreigners are members of the IRS International Reactionary Organization.”
