Chapter 28.3 - I Don’t Want to be a Lackey (3/3)

Although the pup was allowed to follow them, it did not get the right to ride in the car. It ran behind the SUV as they drove towards the road on the outskirts of the city.

Zhao Qiyang was still upset about what had happened earlier. He had been secretly urging his sister to speed up and outpace the wolf, but no matter how fast they went, the black shadow was always close behind.

When they reached the outskirts, the originally wide road became narrow and cramped. The dense vegetation on both sides stretched to the middle of the road, and even the nearby storefronts had thick branches and vines coiled around them.

From a distance, Zhao Sihui saw dozens of boulders piled up in the middle of the road blocking their way. She turned around and beckoned for Jin Yang to take a look.

It was sunset at the time, and the sky was so red it looked as if it was burning. They stopped the car far away, planning to walk there to assess the situation.

The obstacles in the middle of the road were clearly man-made.

Zhao Qiyang led the way with a gun in his hand, and his sister followed closely behind. Yin Yiliu noticed that Jin Yang’s thigh muscles were still tensed. She guessed that his legs had not recovered yet, so she took out his wheelchair.

Jin Yang sat in the wheelchair and stroked the little rabbit’s soft ears. “Thank you,” he said softly.

The black wolf behind him was defiant. The fat rabbit has a stool that can run, but I can carry human beings, and I’m faster and more stable!

The road ahead had been blocked by stones all the way to the trees on the sides, making it difficult for anyone to go through. There were two clothing stores, as well as a Carrefour and a jewelry store nearby, and the vines at the door fronts had been removed.

“Be careful,” Zhao Sihui whispered to her younger brother.

Zhao Qiyang nodded and walked with lighter footsteps.

The clothing store was in total shambles. No one was there, but there was blood on the ground, and faint noises coming from the next door.

They walked in the direction of the sound. The closer they got, the louder the sound, which was accompanied by faint screams and crying.

With serious expressions on their faces, the Zhao siblings exchanged glances.

There were people here, quite a few of them.

The noise came from the nearby Carrefour supermarket. The entrance was locked with a thick iron chain from the inside. Yin Yiliu shook her long ears while trying to distinguish the voices inside.

When she heard a woman crying and some men laughing, she vaguely understood something, and her heart sank.

A green and hard shell appeared on Zhao Qiyang’s skin, like a humanoid monster, and he started to punch the supermarket entrance.

Following the loud slam, the panic screams inside grew louder, and there were even sounds of children crying and screaming amidst the chaos.

Zhao Qiyang frowned and smashed the door open.

The scene inside came into sight.

A few shirtless sturdy men with surprised expressions on their faces stood a few meters away. Behind them were two or three trembling young girls with torn clothes, and even further behind were tied-up old people and crying children.

Yin Yiliu was enraged when she saw the girls.

These scumbags!

She knew about the ugly side of humanity in the post-apocalyptic world, but when she saw the miserable state of these girls with pale faces, dull eyes, all of whom barely any clothes on, she couldn’t contain the anger within her heart.

When the muscular men in the room saw the people who barged in, they were obviously relieved. One of them put his trousers back on and cursed,

“Let me see, one kid, one bitch, and one in a wheelchair, and here I thought mutated animals had broken in, f*ck…”

Another unclothed man squinted his eyes ogling Zhao Sihui. His perverted gaze was sickening. Jin Yang covered Yin Yiliu’s eyes to prevent her from seeing this disgusting scene.

“What is this? Heroes rescuing damsels in distress? Just the three of you?”

The men behind him burst out laughing. One of them didn’t even get up. The butt-naked man pressed himself against an almost unconscious girl, continuing to shake vigorously while panting heavily.

The air was filled with all kinds of unpleasant odors, ranging from rotten food to the foul stench emanating from these bastards.

The man turned his head, revealing the slender face of a snake.

It was strange to see an inverted triangle snake head on a human body. He stuck out his purplish-black tongue, and his eerie snake eyes stared at the three outsiders.

“Just as we were getting bored with our current stock, fresh goods were delivered right to our doorstep.”

Only the man leaning on the edge glanced at the broken iron chain at the door did not let his guard down.

These were not ordinary people. The woman appeared weak and the boy looked young, but they had massive strength. They had to be evolved people as well.

But, so what if they were evolved people? Which of their men wasn’t? And just how many evolved people had died in their hands? The vigilance in his heart gradually dissipated, and he licked the corner of his mouth while staring at the angry Zhao Sihui.

This girl is hot, it must be exciting to do her!

The place where Jin Yang and the others broke into was the base of a group of evolved people; some of them were escaped prisoners, while others had decent-paying jobs before the apocalypse. After the apocalypse, they gained evolved abilities, and their inner filth was revealed.

They had even attacked the military base and abducted the survivors.

Young women were used to vent their desires, while the elderly and children were used as bargaining chips to threaten the adult men. As they see people suffering through humiliation, they become increasingly perverted by the day.

The apocalypse had become a paradise for them. With no more restriction and need for morality, they became the ‘kings’ of the forest.

After occupying the city’s outskirts, they blocked the road leading to the province with surrounding stones. It just so happened that there was a Carrefour nearby with supplies to last for more than half a year. They happened to be in the right place at the right time.

As long as there were people passing by, people who wanted to escape, or people who were caught moving the stones, they would all be captured. With such a group of scum, there was not a single person who managed to escape the city.

City M had become a ghost town, where entry was permitted but exit was not.

Even if Jin Yang and the others didn’t seek their trouble, they would still have come out when they heard their movements.

To leave City M, these barbarians must be dealt with first.
