Yan Qing Chi hugged Jiang Mo Chen a bit longer before releasing his hold and getting to his feet to leave.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m going back.”

“You’re going to leave?”

“What do you think?” Yan Qing Chi laughed softly, “Did you really think I’ll discuss the night-time script with you?”

Jiang Mo Chen remarked, “……Since you’re already here, you might as well stay for the night.”

“That won’t do. I’ll become the focus of the cast and crew if we are seen leaving together in the morning.”

“Then couldn’t you wait until after I leave before leaving?”

“No matter how you say it, the two of us are legal spouses who received our marriage certificate in a just and honorable, upright and frank manner. But now through your mouth, it sounds like we’re having an affair.”

Jiang Mo Chen: “……”

Yan Qing Chi thought about it, and sat down again next to him, “Well, it’s not like I can’t do as you say. I’ll just think of it as a kind of romance experience.”

Jiang Mo Chen pressed his throbbing forehead. Pointing towards the door, he said in a seemingly impatient tone, “Scram…Go, go.”

“What ‘roll out’, it’s not like I’m a horizontal axis washing machine.”1 Yan Qing Chi remarked as he took out his phone. “Anyways, since we’re together, we can video-call Qiqi.”

He sent Qiqi a video call request. It took a while before the other party accepted and half of Qiqi’s face appeared on the screen.

“Daddy.” Qiqi called.

Yan Qing Chi tilted the phone, “Look who this is.”

Qiqi brought his head closer to the screen and remarked in surprise, “Father is also here.”

“What’s Qiqi doing?” Jiang Mo Chen asked him.

“I’m watching cartoons with Auntie. I’m going to sleep after it’s over,” he said as he turned the phone to include Auntie Zhang in the frame.

Jiang Mo Chen directed a smile at her when he saw her and told her, “It’ll be a while before we can return. Auntie Zhang, see what Qiqi wants to do while we’re gone. If he feels bored, then bring him to my parents’ place to stay for some time.”

“Alright.”

Qiqi heard his words and asked, “Father, when are you and Daddy coming back?”

“After some time. Qiqi, you have to listen to Auntie while you’re home.”

Qiqi nodded, “Qiqi is a very good child.”

Jiang Mo Chen asked him, “Is school fun?”

Qiqi thought about it and pouted, “Sometimes it’s fun, sometimes it’s not.”

“When is it fun and when is it not fun?”

“It’s fun when I’m drawing, in class, and when I’m playing games. It’s not fun when we nap in the afternoon.”

“Why’s that?”

“Qiqi doesn’t take afternoon naps.” Qiqi emphasized, “Only at night.”

Yan Qing Chi chuckled, “What do you do instead (of sleeping in the afternoon)?”

“Draw, play chess, or solve puzzles.” Qiqi rattled off as he counted with his fingers.

“Alright then. In a few days, I’ll call your teacher and tell her that if you really don’t want to sleep in the afternoon, you won’t need to.”

“Really?” Qiqi’s intonation immediately increased (in joy). “Thank you, Daddy.”

“You’re welcome.”

The three of them continued to chat for a while. Yan Qing Chi noticed that Qiqi seemed to be getting drowsy so he hung up to let the kid go to sleep.

Jiang Mo Chen waited until he ended the call before he asked, “Aren’t you spoiling him too much?”

Yan Qing Chi returned a befuddled expression, “Huh?”

“Everyone sleeps in the afternoon. Simply because he doesn’t like to sleep in the afternoon, you intend to call the teacher so that he doesn’t need to sleep in the afternoon. Isn’t it kind of bad to do that?”

And here Yan Qing Chi had been wondering what Jiang Mo Chen would say, so it was this. “Then, everyone likes girls, you like boys. Your parents let you marry a man. Don’t you think your parents spoil you too much?”

Jiang Mo Chen was promptly made speechless.

Yan Qing Chi looked at him and said gently, “There are inherent differences between people. Just like how some people like to eat greens and some people like to eat meat, some people sleep less while others sleep more. He doesn’t want to sleep, he struggles to fall asleep, what’s the use even if you put him in a bed? When I was small, I never had afternoon naps and I grew up fine. In the first place, there is no right or wrong (answer or method) for many things. So why should we use a ruler and a mold to force others (to conform to)?”

Jiang Mo Chen leaned back. “I noticed that you’re quite open-minded; you’re rather sanguine. When you give your arguments, you already know what to say.”2

“Because it’s not anything major. As long as you’re not wandering on the edge of moral ethics and laws, I think that these kinds of personal habits are all understandable. There is no need to make others unhappy because of it.”

“Alright then, I’ll listen to you.” Jiang Mo Chen got to his feet, “I’m going to go shower.”

Yan Qing Chi waved at him, then dipped his head down to continue perusing his script.

The two of them merely conversed under the covers together and slept. Jiang Mo Chen had a scene to film the next day in the early morning. He was called awake around 5 AM by his alarm clock. Yan Qing Chi was a light sleeper. When he heard the ringing of the alarm clock, he blearily opened his eyes and prepared to get up.

Jiang Mo Chen reached out and pressed him back down, “You sleep. It’s only 5 (AM), you don’t have any scenes to film.”

“It’s only 5 (AM)?”

“Mn.”

Jiang Mo Chen watched as he closed his eyes again, pulled up the blanket, and murmured, “Then you make sure you film your scenes properly.”

He normally appeared full of energy; it was rare for him to seem so soft and cuddly. He was practically like the larger version of Qiqi. When Jiang Mo Chen saw this sight, he thought it was rather adorable.

He grunted assent and poked Yan Qing Chi’s face. The other man murmured, “What?”

Jiang Mo Chen pinched his face and decided that the sensation was not bad, “Nothing, you continue sleeping. I’m going to go wash up.”

“Mn, fighting.” Yan Qing Chi murmured.

“Alright.”

When the assistant Wang Xiang Hai came to pick up his family’s film emperor, he saw Jiang Mo Chen in the middle of closing the door. Little Wang was quite surprised, “Chen-ge woke up so early today.”

“Mn, it’s rare that I woke up early. Ah, right. Tell the front desk later not to let housekeeping clean my room this afternoon.”

“Sure.”

“Is Yan Qing Chi’s assistant staying in the room next to yours?”

“Yes.”

“Guan Mei’s not here and he brought just this one assistant. Whenever you have time, help take care of him.”

“Alright.” Wang Xiang Hai agreed. He eyed Jiang Mo Chen, “Chen-ge, I ask you something?”

“What is it?”

“What kind of relationship does Yan Qing Chi have with you? That day when you drank alcohol and called me over, he was the one in the car, wasn’t he?”

Jiang Mo Chen glanced at him and smiled, “What kind of relationship do you think we have?”

Little Wang immediately straightened his back and stood at attention. He held his breath with rapt attention, “Good friends, bros, pure socialist comradery!”

Jiang Mo Chen did not give any comment.

Wang Xiang Hai rubbed his still-beating heart. Oh mother, that scared this baby to death.

When Yan Qing Chi woke up again, it was already 7:30 AM. It was his usual daily routine. He took his time changing his clothes. He washed up and opened the door, peeking out carefully. Luckily, there was no one in the hallway. Yan Qing Chi immediately leapt out, closed the door, and returned to his room.

To feel as guilty as a thief! He shook his head, sending Jiang Mo Chen a WeChat message: 【I’m up and in my room now [heiha]3】

Jiang Mo Chen did not reply. He was most likely in the middle of filming.

" "

Yan Qing Chi was unperturbed. Just as he was preparing to go downstairs to eat breakfast, he received He Fei’s WeChat message: 【Yan-ge, are you awake?】

Yan Qing Chi replied: 【I’m awake, what’s up?】

【Do you want to go eat breakfast?】

【Mn.】

And then he heard the sound of knocking on the door, his phone beeping: 【Yan-ge, I’m outside your door.】

Yan Qing Chi:  ……You sure are speedy.

Yan Qing Chi opened the door to see He Fei standing in front of his door. The latter greeted him energetically.

Yan Qing Chi could only return him a polite smile.

The two of them soon finished their breakfast. Yan Qing Chi went to the filming site and saw that the director was in the middle of filming Jiang Mo Chen’s solo outdoor scene. He supported his head up and attentively observed the other man as he acted until afternoon. At that time, Yan Qing Chi heard the director call his name and he excitedly got to his feet. They were finally going to film his scenes!

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ocean (shore), Yuan Ming Xu stared at the itinerary for his flight back to the country on his computer screen. After pondering over it for a long while, he finally pressed the purchase button. He let out a sigh of relief, which also carried a hint of subconscious nervousness. Holding up the phone, he hesitated between contacting Jiang Mo Chen or Zhou Yi Xing for a long time. In the end, he chose Liao Si Bo as the point of entry.4

He compiled each and every character into a message then sent it to Liao Si Bo:【I’m coming back. By that time, call up Mo Chen. Let’s all gather together. 】

Not long after he sent that message, he received Liao Si Bo’s responding WeChat message:

【Sure. Send me your flight number, Mo Chen and I will go pick you up.】

Seeing his WeChat message, Yuan Ming Xu unknowingly gave a faint smile.

JMC told YQC to “滚滚滚” (gǔngǔngǔn) which can translate to “to boil / to roll / to take a hike / Get lost!” (MDBG). He meant for YQC to get out, but YQC purposely misunderstood his words to be telling him to ‘roll out’. Btw this is what he’s talking about:

which is called “嘿哈” (hei ha). It’s mainly the pose, but Lynn found one with hair and clothes so here you go! Here’s a Baidu link if you want to know the origin behind the phrase.I translated “切入点” as “point of entry”, but think of it like the starting point. If you imagine it like you are preparing to cut into something like cake or like a dissection, it is the first place/part you start to cut from or enter.
