Chapter 161 (Extra:7)

The next day, the three brothers, Prince Qi, Prince Yu and Prince Ning, got on the carriage that was going to the border of Xizhou.

The accompanying officials thought that only Prince Qi was going with them, but when they arrived, they saw two other princes and their faces had turned pale with fright.

But at this moment, the three brothers were all depressed, sitting side by side on the carriage and sighing, not in the mood to pay attention to the officials who came cautiously to chat with them.

A few officials met with a rebuke and had no choice but to get off the carriage.

Behind another carriage, several officials gathered together.

“What’s going on? It’s okay for Prince Qi to come with us. But why are Prince Yu and Prince Ning also here?”

“The eunuch who saw us off just now told me that this was the emperor’s will. The emperor wanted the three princes to have some experience in Xizhou and that’s why he made this decision.”

“So that’s the case, but those three princes are all pampered. Even if they go to Xizhou, they may not be able to do anything. How can they gain experience?”

“Well…” the official dragged on for a while and said awkwardly, “Just now, the eunuch also said that the emperor has already listed the things that the three princes need to do overnight. We just need to keep an eye on them. If there is anything wrong, just report directly to the emperor.”

For a while, several officials fell silent.

Having said this, how could they be so stupid that they couldn’t hear the meaning behind the eunuch’s words?

It seemed that the three princes had offended the emperor somehow, so they were being taught a lesson by the emperor.

Since this is the case, there is no need for them to intercede for them in front of the emperor for the sake of the three princes. When the time comes, they should keep an eye on them, report when they should, and never be merciful.

After several officials made up their mind, it was time to set off. They got into their respective carriages.

The autumn weather was still hot and the sun was scorching the earth.

The carriage procession set off outside the palace gate.

Eunuch Zhu stood at the palace gate, staring sympathetically at the carriage where the three princes were.

I have to say that the shocking behavior of these three princes last night really made the emperor very angry, otherwise the emperor would not be so stingy as to let the three princes ride in the same carriage.

Eunuch Zhu stood at the palace gate, staring sympathetically at the carriage where the three princes were.

It had to be said that the shocking behavior of these three princes last night really made the emperor very angry, otherwise the emperor would not be so stingy as to let the three princes ride in the same carriage.

“Tsk.” Eunuch Zhu said to himself, “Just hone your skills and in the future, at least grow some brains and be clear about what words to say and what words not to say.”

Although the three princes will not stay at the border of Xizhou for too long, maybe it will be better than what awaits them after that.

***

The fact that the three princes were driven to Xizhou by the emperor caused quite a stir in the court.

However, this wave did not last long and was drowned by another bigger wave – the little prince’s 100-day banquet.

Everyone in the palace started to get busy.

In contrast, Wen Chi seemed very idle. Fortunately, little Xia Tian was with him, so he would not feel particularly bored in this palace.

The day before the hundred-day banquet, Eunuch Zhu led several young eunuchs to bring the clothes made by the embroiderers to Wen Chi.

Wen Chi thought that embroiderers had only made clothes for little Xia Tian to wear. However, when he asked Ruofang and Xiao Zhuanzi to come over and take a look, there was actually a set of clothes for adults to wear.

Judging by the size, it looks like it’s made for him.

Those clothes were almost all embroidered with golden silk threads, which shone brightly in the light. The workmanship of each piece of clothes was extremely exquisite. It was obvious at a glance that a lot of manpower and financial resources had been spent on it.

There are many rules in this palace. Although Wen Chi cannot memorize them all, he also knows that except for the emperor and the crown prince, no one else can wear clothes or items related to yellow, even the clothes worn by the empress are not the orthodox yellow.

Yellow represents authority and status. No one dares to touch it, if you dare to touch it, your head will fall off.

Therefore, Wen Chi did not expect that Eunuch Zhu would actually send yellow clothes.

After realizing this, he froze for a while, and when he came back to his senses, he hurriedly retracted the hand that almost touched the clothes.

“Eunuch Zhu, is the other set of clothes for me?” Wen Chi asked.

“Yes.” Eunuch Zhu said respectfully, “I have ordered the clothes and crown to be made according to the sizes of the young master and the young prince. Tomorrow morning there will be special maids to serve the young master and the young prince to wear them.”

Isn’t tomorrow the 100-day banquet of little Xia Tian?

Wait ……

Wen Chi suddenly remembered something and quickly called to Eunuch Zhu who was about to leave: “Should I also go tomorrow?”

Hearing this, Eunuch Zhu was puzzled for a moment: “Where do you mean young master?”

Wen Chi said: “The hundred-day banquet.”

Eunuch Zhu was stunned for a moment, then smiled helplessly: “Young Master, you are the biological father of the little prince, so naturally you have to attend the little prince’s 100-day banquet.”

Wen Chi pointed at the clothes Ruo Fang carefully held with both hands in surprise: “Am I wearing that outfit?”

Eunuch Zhu nodded and said, “Yes.”

After hearing this, Wen Chi felt weird.

Although he did not have serious social anxiety, he strongly opposed appearing in front of various civil and military officials and royal relatives.

This ancient time was not like modern times, wherever he went, he had to pay attention to etiquette and respect. After all, he had been living in modern times for more than twenty years, both in his thoughts and behaviors are no match for those born and raised in ancient times.

If he appears in public more times, the chances of being exposed would become greater and he would even cause unnecessary trouble.

Wen Chi has followed Shi Ye for so long and watched Shi Ye transform from the crown prince to the master of a country but he had never asked Shi Ye for a title, he was afraid that the higher the status, the greater the responsibility.

Eunuch Zhu saw the panic on Wen Chi’s face and thought Wen Chi was nervous, so he comforted him: “Don’t worry, Young Master, I’ve already made all the arrangements, tomorrow you just need to follow my instructions.”

Wen Chi didn’t know what to say, so he nodded absentmindedly.

Soon, Eunuch Zhu left with a few more young eunuchs.

Wen Chi turned to look at the clothes Ruo Fang and Xiao Shuanzi were holding with both hands. He felt irritated and complicated. He waved his hands and said, “Put them away first.”

Ruo Fang asked doubtfully: “Young Master, don’t you want to try it first?”

Wen Chi shook his head: “I don’t want to try it.”

Seeing that Wen Chi didn’t want to speak, Ruo Fang fell silent and then she and Xiao Shuanzi walked away with the clothes.

Wen Chi stood there for a while, then turned and walked towards little Xia Tian’s room.

This sudden incident severely dampened Wen Chi’s mood. He was gloomy all day long and he didn’t even smile when teasing little Xia Tian.

Wen Chi didn’t know if little Xia Tian was infected by his bad mood but the usually quiet little guy started crying at the top of his lungs.

Wen Chi, who was still lightly patting little Xia Tian, was startled and he stood up from the bedside.

Little Xia Tian cried really loudly until his little face turned red. Big tears fell from the corners of his eyes. He opened his mouth wide and looked extremely pitiful.

When Wen Chi saw this, his heart clenched in pain. He instinctively reached out to pick up little Xia Tian, who had just woken up but then he remembered his previous mood while taking care of little Xia Tian and he retracted his hands back.

Just then, several wet nurses who heard the sound walked in hurriedly.

As if he had seen a savior, Wen Chi quickly gave up his position and handed over little Xia Tian to several wet nurses.

The wet nurses picked up the crying little Xia Tian, and patiently coaxed him while gently rocking him.

Wen Chi stood beside him distractedly for a long time, then walked out of the room.

He returned to his bedroom, sat on the edge of the bed and continued to be distracted. Ruo Fang walked over softly, with undisguised worry on her face. She walked up to Wen Chi and asked in a low voice: “What’s bothering you, Young Master?”

Wen Chi touched his face in amusement, “Is it that obvious?”

Ruo Fang nodded solemnly: “Young master, you almost have your emotions written on your face.”

Wen Chi sighed, thought for a while and then said: “It’s not a big deal. I seem to be a little timid. I don’t even dare to go to little Xia Tian’s 100-day banquet.”

Ruo Fang tilted her head in confusion: “Why?”

Wen Chi couldn’t say, those thoughts of his were too many and too messed up, not something that could be said in a few words.

Although Ruo Fang didn’t know what Wen Chi was thinking, she still consoled him seriously: “Young Master, what Eunuch Zhu means is what the Emperor intends. I don’t know if the Emperor has mentioned this to you, but I can really tell you but I can truly feel that the emperor is working hard to bring the young master under his wings.  The emperor is the emperor and has his own pride, maybe he will not tell the young master his every thought but the emperor’s feelings for the young master are clearly reflected in his actions.”

Wen Chi was stunned when he heard this. He had thought about so many random things but he had never thought of this aspect.

Unexpectedly, it was Ruo Fang who thought of this.

Likt the saying goes, the person on the spot is baffled, the onlooker sees clear1This is also a proverb. It means that those who are in the midst of the event may not understand the situation, but as bystanders, they can see it clearly.…

When Ruo Fang saw that Wen Chi was silent, she continued, “Young Master, with the emperor walking ahead of you, don’t be afraid. I believe the emperor will definitely shield you from the wind and rain.”

Wen Chi opened his mouth, his voice a little hoarse: “Do you know what the yellow clothes represent?”

“Of course I know this,” Ruo Fang said, “Since ancient times, only the Empress is qualified to wear clothes of that color.”

Wen Chi said: “But I am not the Empress.”

Ruo Fang said: “Maybe Young master will be the Empress soon.”

Wen Chi paused: “But I’m not a woman.”

Although his body is not that of a pure man, the position of Empress has always been reserved for women.

If he really takes that position, I’m afraid Shi Ye will suffer endless criticism.

“But rules are dead and people are alive.” Ruo Fang thought more clearly than Wen Chi, “No one has ever asked the Empress to be a woman, just like no one has ever asked the Emperor to not keep only one person in his three palaces and six courtyards. There has never been such an example before, but the emperor is willing to open up a new path for the young master. Why don’t young master also take this brave step for the sake of the emperor.”

Wen Chi looked at Ruo Fang blankly.

At this moment, he felt that every word Ruo Fang said was slowly seeping into his mind.

For the first time, he found that Ruo Fang has such a keen eye.

The corners of his mouth slowly curled up and finally he gave a relaxed smile: “Ruo Fang, thank you for saying these words to me.”

Ruo Fang was also very happy: “As long as I can untie the knot in the young master’s heart, this servant girl will be satisfied.”

After Ruo Fang left, Wen Chi pondered over those words.

He suddenly felt so intuitively that he was too timid.

When he first met Shi Ye, he was a timid person. In order to save his life at the night market during the dragon boat festival2In Chapter 27, Wen Chi ran away when the assassins were after Si Ye but then because of some unknown power he was pulled back, he even abandoned Shi Ye who was still in a wheelchair and ran away. And later on, he was like a frog, who would only jump forward when Shi Ye poked him.

He would just jump forward blindly. If he stopped and looked around carefully, he would find that he had been walking on the path that Shi Ye had arranged for him.

Shi Ye was walking in front and he was walking behind. He was far behind Shi Ye but he selfishly wanted to step back.

Wen Chi regretted it greatly.

He regretted today’s hesitation and entanglement and also regretted that he could not understand this earlier.

He stood up and walked towards the door. He wanted to find Shi Ye but when he turned around the corner he almost bumped into the wet nurse holding little Xia Tian.

Only then did he hear little Xia Tian crying.

“Young Master Wen, come and hug the little prince.” The wet nurse said anxiously, “This servant has been coaxing him for a long time, but it’s useless. Maybe you can try hugging him, if the little prince continues to cry, I’m afraid he will get sick.”

Wen Chi looked at little Xia Tian’s face that was as red as a monkey’s ass. Feeling extremely distressed, he quickly took little Xia Tian from the wet nurse’s arm.

It was clear that little Xia Tian was not old enough to recognize anyone but after being held in Wen Chi’s arms, he actually slowly stopped crying.

The wet nurse breathed a sigh of relief.

Wen Chi lowered his head and rubbed the tip of his nose against Little Xia Tian’s face, which was wet with tears. He sighed and told the wet nurses to go and rest, then he turned around and entered the bedroom with little Xia Tian in his arms.

Little Xia Tian neither cried nor fussed and lay obediently in Wen Chi’s arms, staring straight at Wen Chi with his black pearl-like eyes.

Wen Chi looked down at little Xia Tian.

Little Xia Tian’s eyes and nose were still red. He squeezed out a little indistinct sound from his mouth and kept waving his fisted hands upwards, as if he wanted to touch Wen Chi’s face.

Wen Chi lowered his head a little more cooperatively, allowing little Xia Tian’s fist to touch his chin.

Little Xia Tian waved his fist, grinned with satisfaction and squeezed out the sound even more vigorously. The little guy’s eyes were as bright as the stars in the sky.

Wen Chi’s heart softened and he whispered: “Crybaby.”

After a while, Wen Chi felt a little tired from standing. He sat on the bed and put little Xia Tian on top of him.

In the end, Little Xia Tian lay on top of him and quickly fell asleep.

Wen Chi also felt tired and closed his eyes intending to take a nap.

After an unknown amount of time, Wen Chi vaguely heard some noises. He suddenly remembered that he was still holding little Xia Tian and hurriedly opened his eyes, not expecting to see a familiar face at first glance.

Shi Ye is here.

But Shi Ye didn’t look at him. Instead, he stared at little Xia Tian in his arms with a dark face and put his hands under little Xia Xia’s arms, as if he intended to take little Xia Tian away.

Wen Chi hurriedly said : “What are you doing?”

Only then did Shi Ye realize that Wen Chi was awake. He retracted his hand with a guilty conscience, raised his eyes to meet Wen Chi’s questioning gaze and suddenly felt aggrieved: “Why are you asking me? You should be asking what this bastard is doing!”

When Wen Chi heard this, he looked at little Xia Tian puzzled. When he saw what little Xia Tian was doing, he couldn’t help but laugh out loud.

Little Xia Tian was still lying on top of him, burying his little face on his chest, holding the clothes on his chest in his mouth, sucking it with relish.

Wen Chi pulled the clothes out of little Xia Tian’s mouth and quickly coaxed little Xia Tian who was about to cry: “He’s hungry.”

Shi Ye’s dragon face3(face/countenance of the emperor) was furious: “Just because he is hungry, can he just eat whatever he wants? I don’t know where he got this bad habit from, I guess it was from those wet nurses.”

Wen Chi ”…”

The wet nurses who heard the sound not far away felt like crying.

“What does it have to do with the wet nurse?” Wen Chi was speechless, “Children are like this. Besides, he is still your son. Why are you haggling with your son?”

Shi Ye looked at Wen Chi, then at little Xia Tian, who was looking at him in Wen Chi’s arms and snorted coldly.

Just as he let out a cold snort, little Xia Tian’s mouth suddenly flattened and he was about to cry out of fear.

Wen Chi was also startled and hurriedly stood up. While coaxing little Xia Tian, he scolded angrily at Shi Ye, “What did you just do?”

Shi Ye was also angry: “I didn’t do anything.”

Wen Chi said: “Then why is he crying?”

Shi Ye, who had really done nothing, felt aggrieved: “I’m not him, how can I know what he thinks?”

Wen Chi was too lazy to talk to Shi Ye and just said, “Little Xia Tian might be hungry, go call the nurse.”

Shi Ye’s anger had not subsided and he refused to move. He said in a cold voice: “Why must I go, just because you told me to go? Who do you think I am?”

Wen Chi, who was busy coaxing the child, glanced at Shi Ye and replied seriously: “You are the child’s father.”

“…” Shi Ye stood up immediately, “I’ll go call the wet nurse.”

The wet nurses were waiting not far away and there was no need for Shi Ye to ask for them. They came in and carefully hugged little Xia Tian and took him away.

After the wet nurses left, the bedroom suddenly became quiet.

Wen Chi turned around and saw Shi Ye sitting back on the bed and sulking. He couldn’t help but feel funny. He walked over and sat face to face on Shi Ye’s lap. He held Shi Ye’s cheeks with his hands and asked Shi Ye to look up at him.

“Didn’t you like little Xia Tian very much before? I said he looked like a little monkey, and you were mad at me for a long time. Why did you change so quickly?”

Originally, Shi Ye had suppressed his jealousy but now that Wen Chi mentioned it, the jealousy burst like a flood and became out of control.

“I also want to ask you, didn’t you dislike little Xia Tian before? Now when you blink your eyes even for a second and can’t see him, you become anxious. Why did you change so quickly?”

Wen Chi was confused by Shi Ye’s question: “I gave birth to little Xia Tian, how could I not like him? He is my only son. Of course I will be anxious if I can’t see him.”

Shi Ye said: “What about me? You haven’t seen me for three or four days in a row, yet you act like nothing’s wrong. I really don’t have any weight in your heart.”

Wen Chi: “…”

He saw Shi Ye’s squirmy expression and understood immediately.

Good guy, Shi Ye is jealous!

But why is he even jealous of his own son?

Wen Chi was furious and amused. He held Shi Ye’s cheek and kissed him directly. After the kiss, he rubbed against Shi Ye’s lips and said, “You and the three-month-old child weigh the same.”

Shi Ye couldn’t help himself, there were flames burning in his eyes, he gazed deeply at Wen Chi: “And…”

Wen Chi asked: “What?”

Shi Ye skillfully took off Wen Chi’s outer garment, his gaze swept over Wen Chi’s chest, “You can also treat me as a three-month-old child.”

Wen Chi “…”

Wen Chi’s face suddenly turned red.

This old rascal

Stinky and shameless!

****

The next day.

Wen Chi was rarely dragged out from under the covers by Xiao Shuanzi.

Last night he and Shi Ye worked hard until midnight and by the time they finished bathing, it was already the middle of the night.

Not long after he closed his eyes, he was woken up by the chirping sound of the Xiao Shuanzi

But he was so sleepy that he couldn’t even open his eyes. He allowed Eunuch Zhu and several palace maids to mess with him, while his head was drooping like a little chicken pecking on rice.

Today is a very special day.

This is a translation hosted on KnoxT, copies found elsewhere are either stolen or plagiarized. Please support the translator by reading it at KnoxT.

Wen Chi didn’t even have a moment to rest and followed Eunuch Zhu around like a puppet.

After completing a series of procedures, it was almost afternoon.

The ceremoniously dressed Wen Chi and Shi Ye walked to the highest point of Baohe Hall4The Baohe Hall is one of the three main halls of the Imperial Palace. Usually, grand ceremonies are held in this hall together. Shi Ye was wearing a dragon robe, his handsome face was hidden by the bead curtain5The row of bead curtains for emperors is usually made by threading colorful silk threads through colorful beads and jade, and the standard scientific name is Yuzao. The number of beads in this curtain is very particular, the crown of the emperor is twelve diadem. and he looked at the people below calmly.

Everyone knelt down and said in unison: “Long live the emperor, Long live the empress.”

Wen Chi’s feet softened.

Shi Ye supported him in time: “Are you feeling uncomfortable?”

Wen Chi was a little confused: “When did I become the Empress?”

Shi Ye quietly moved closer to Wen Chi and whispered, “Just now.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Eunuch Zhu shouted in a sharp voice: “Greeting to the Crown Prince~”

After shouting, Xiao Shuanzi appeared outside the palace door holding little Xia Tian, who was also dressed in glittering gold and walked towards Wen Chi and Shi Ye.

A group of eunuchs and palace maids followed Xiao Shuanzi with their heads down.

Everyone kneeling on the ground said in unison: “Long live the crown prince.”

Wen Chi’s feet went soft again.

So, Shi Ye simply put his arm around Wen Chi’s waist.

Fortunately, they wore loose clothes and stood side by side, so no one noticed their little movements – of course, no one dared to look up at them.

Wen Chi continued to be confused: “When did little Xia Tian become the crown prince?”

Shi Ye whispered: “Just now.”

Wen Chi recalled the process he had drowsily walked through a few hours before, and paused before saying, “I thought today was only Little Xia Tian’s 100th day banquet.”

Shi Ye retracted his hand from Wen Chi’s waist and held Wen Chi’s hand instead. He interlocked his fingers with Wen Chi’s in a familiar manner and soon noticed that Wen Chi’s hand was shaking.

He was silent for a moment and said, “I made the decision on my own.”

After he finished speaking, he felt Wen Chi squeeze his hand tightly. He heard Wen Chi say: “I’m a little nervous when I stand too high.”

Shi Ye was stunned.

Wen Chi added: “I haven’t faced so many people in a long time, but it doesn’t matter, I should be able to adapt to it soon.”

Shi Ye curled his lips and said, “Thank you.”

While they were talking, Xiao Shuanzi had already walked up to them with little Xia Tian in his arms.

Little Xia Tian opened his black pearl-like eyes and looked around curiously.

Shi Ye took little Xia Tian from Xiao Shuanzi’s arms and sat down with Wen Chi.

Everyone below also took their seats.

The banquet began and rows of palace maids filed out from all over the place carrying dishes and the quiet hall slowly became filled with the sound of conversation.

However, little Xia Tian had no idea that he had been promoted from prince to crown prince and was still moving restlessly in Shi Ye’s arms.

Little Xia Tian stretched out his hand to Wen Chi, obviously wanting Wen Chi to hug him.

Shi Ye refused and continued to hold Little Xia Tian.

This resulted in little Xia Tian’s loud cries suddenly erupting in the hall.

Little Xia Tian not only cried his lungs out but also peed on Shi Ye. By the time Wen Chi hurriedly took little Xia Tian away, Shi Ye’s face had darkened to the extreme.

The people below were silent, with their heads buried, not even daring to raise their eyes.

But everyone was holding back their laughter.

The emperor was notoriously difficult to deal with when he was still the crown prince. He must have never expected that one day he would meet an opponent and give him a big blow on such an important day.

When the wet nurse arrived, Wen Chi and Shi Ye were already in a mess.

The wet nurse hurriedly took little Xia Tian from Wen Chi’s hand and was about to turn around and walk away when she suddenly heard the emperor say: “Zhu Xian6Eunuch Zhu’s name, write down the crown prince’s name.”

Eunuch Zhu quickly said: “Yes.”

The emperor said: “Shi Fan7时帆 Shi(时) as in Surname, Fan(帆) as in sail.”

Eunuch Zhu asked: “Your Majesty, what does this mean…”

The emperor spoke ruthlessly: “Fan8烦 Fan as in annoying, troublesome. But this Fan character is different from the sail, fan character as in annoying, let him remember for a lifetime how annoying he was when he was a child.”

Eunuch Zhu: “…”

Wen Chi: “…”

So little Xia Tian’s great name was established in this furore.

Maybe even little Xia Tian himself didn’t expect that his father’s love came so fiercely and disappeared so quickly.

However, when little Xia Tian was ten years old, he learned that the “Sail” in his name originally meant set sail. His father had thought about it for a long time before his 100-day banquet before settling on the word “Sail”…….

Little Xia Tian, who knew the truth, was so moved that he hugged his father emperor and cried for a long time.

But what Little Xia Tian doesn’t know is that the real meaning of “Sail” in his name is – set sail, go as far away as possible, do not come to disturb me and your father’s two people’s world.

The author has something to say:

I’ve finally finished writing it! I have been writing this article for half a year, and I can’t wait to mark it as finished. I am very grateful to all the readers who have entered the pit. Your support is the motivation for me to keep writing. 55555 This is because it is my first time to write ancient prose, even though there is an outline, but it was still very stuck, so I stopped updating for a while, but fortunately, no matter whether it crashed or stopped midway, at least I wrote out the outline content completely, and dealt with all the foreshadowings. It has come full circle to where I originally planned to write. That’s pretty much it. We’ll see you next time.

Translator Xiao He Lian has something to say:

That’s it guys!! 1 year and 5 months later Transmigrated to become the Tyrant’s Male Concubine has officially finished it’s translation!!! Thank You so much for sticking with this novel and with me until the very end!! . I hope you enjoyed this novel as much as I did. I remember when I first reading this novel, I couldn’t even find MTL for this novel, so I had to translate and read it. The same was when i started translating. But the most satisfying thing is, now everyone knows that this novel exist and have read it, and this makes me very happy!

What actually draw me into this was the weird paradox that connected the past and present, which I haven’t read in any other novel. Would you believe me if I said, the “back to the past” chapters were the main reason I wanted to translate this novel??!! Because almost a year before I started translating this novel (I was reading the raws) and those last few chapters stuck in my head for a long time(maybe because it was heart wrenching in its own way) and I wanted to translate it so more avid readers like me can read this novel. Also, this was my first ever system-transmigration novel I’ve ever read after stepping into the world of Chinese novels, so this novel played a special part in my c novel journey.

Also, this is the author’s first historical novel, so please understand if there are some issues here and there. The main aim was comedy and the rest comes second. What matters the most is if everyone enjoyed it or not.

Thankyou again and see you guys in my next project.
