“Ruan Ruan, did you remember that memory?”

Wen Ting Zhou stared fixedly at Ruan Xi, suddenly asking that question without any warning.

Once Ruan Xi heard those words, her heart jolted. A smear of guilt and panic flickered past her eyes as she denied in a hurry:

“No, nope!”

“Cough cough, I haven’t recalled that memory yet.”

It was apparent that Ruan Xi had realised that she had been too quick to deny it, since her face exploded red as she added another sentence, though her attempt to hide it only made it more conspicuous.

It was fine to call her an ostrich, she just didn’t wish for Wen Ting Zhou to know that she had remembered that forgotten memory.

It was too embarrassing.

She hardly realised that she was inciting more suspicion the more she acted this way.

Wen Ting Zhou absorbed Ruan Xi’s guilt and panic into his retinas, unable to stop his lip corners from curving. However, he did not continue pursuing the topic, nor was he unwilling to let go of it. He was afraid that Ruan Ruan was unaware of what she looked like right now.

Mn, it was like a kitten that had been caught by its owner after pilfering food.

It was very cute.

Back then, Ruan Ruan’s courage could cover the skies as she teased his injured self.

He used to feel like it was too embarrassing to mention it in the past, but after marrying Ruan Xi, he felt like it was a kind of amusement instead.

Mentioning it once or twice on occasion did not sound bad.

However, it was better not to expose Ruan Ruan – who was plugging her ears whilst stealing the bell – right now.

“It’s fine if you haven’t recalled it, it isn’t anything important.”

Ruan Xi’s gaze drifted, feeling even more guilty.

Upon seeing that, Wen Ting Zhou issued a low laugh. His long arms extended, and he used a bit of force, taking Ruan Xi into his embrace.

Her warm and soft figure was tightly plastered to his chest, a faint and familiar fragrance wafting around his nose. A wave of agitated heat swept past Wen Ting Zhou’s heart as he exerted more strength with the hand that was holding her body, as if he wanted to rub her body into his own.

Ever since Ruan Xi entered the last phase of her pregnancy, they did not have any sexual intercourse even though they still slept on the same bed.

Now that Ruan Xi had come out of her postpartum month and her body was fully adjusted, Wen Ting Zhou did not want to restrain himself anymore especially when his beloved woman was in his arms.

“Ruan Ruan, the female physician said that your body has already recovered.”

Ruan Xi immediately understood the meaning of his words. Her whole body shivered slightly, parched heat boiling up swiftly.

She buried her head in Wen Ting Zhou’s chest before humming lightly in response.

After Wen Ting Zhou received her reply, he pressed her under his body abruptly, like desperate rain meeting the dry land after a long drought, his requests insatiable.

The candle flames swayed gently, illuminating the two entangled figures inside the canopy, filling the entire room with a growing fragrance.

On the morning of the next day, Wen Ting Zhou woke up in a refreshed mood. Slanting his head, he peered at the soundly sleeping Ruan Xi, her fair and delicate face overflowing with a tender and beautiful blush of having been fiercely pleasured, and the slipping blanket revealed the mottled marks strewn all over her body. Wen Ting Zhou’s lip corners raised high; his handsome face tinged with a hint of complete satisfaction.

After tucking in the blanket, Wen Ting Zhou draped on his outer clothes and got off the bed with light movements.

When Su Yu, Zhang Qing, and the rest saw the peerlessly handsome Wen Ting Zhou sporting an even brighter lustre, they smiled with a tacit understanding.

“Shao Furen is still sleeping, don’t disturb her.”

Wen Ting Zhou issued a line of instruction.

Su Yu and Su Zhu gave an affirmative reply without missing a beat.

The movement had been so loud last night, and they called for hot water, it goes without saying that their family’s Young Lady had been terribly exhausted.

After Wen Ting Zhou washed his face and rinsed his mouth, he naturally took the little boy, who had eaten and drank his fill, from the wetnurse’s arms and headed for the main courtyard.

The little guy’s distinctive black and white eyes were wide open, all obedient and docile, and he was especially lovable to others.

Wen Ting Zhou stared at his son’s cute appearance, stretching a hand to lightly pinch his ruddy cheek as his mouth corners tugged into a cheerful smile.

“Ah Yu, let’s go to the Main Courtyard to see grandmother.”

This was not the first time Wen Ting Zhou had personally carried his own son. As early as a half-month ago, he had started carrying his own child and it had shocked a great number of people.

Main Courtyard.

When Wen furen and Minister Wen, who had yet to go to his office, saw Wen Ting Zhou carrying their legitimate grandson inside, they were not surprised at all, since they had grown accustomed to the sight.

“Ting Zhou, where is Xiao Xi? Why didn’t she come over together to partake in breakfast?”

Wen furen had taken her obedient grandchild from her son’s arms to tease him for a while, and she could not resist asking the question out of concern after realising that Ruan Xi was absent.

Perfectly calm and collected, Wen Ting Zhou said: “Mother, Ruan Ruan was tired out from yesterday. I wanted to let her sleep more, so I didn’t wake her up.”

Wen furen’s lips twitched. What tired out from yesterday? Judging from how her son was practically glowing with his satiated appearance, it was evident that he had ruthlessly tossed and turned Xiao Xi for the whole night, which was why Xiao Xi could not get up. She could not resist shooting a glare at her son.

“Can’t you restrain yourself a little, Xiao Xi just came out of her postpartum month.”

At the side, Minister Wen glanced at his composed-looking son before he issued a light cough, “[We] should be partaking in breakfast.”

This matter passed like that.

After eating their breakfast, Wen Ting Zhou and Minister Wen went to their respective government offices, while Wen furen continued to watch over her grandson.

The warm sun of spring shone into the room, and the time unconsciously lapsed into the noon. After Ruan Xi woke up, she realised that Wen Ting Zhou was no longer by her side, though she did not find it strange. Since yesterday was the little guy’s Full Month Ceremony, he had asked for a day of leave, and he definitely had to go into the office today.

Just as Ruan Xi got up from the bed, she immediately felt the soreness in her waist, and she could not help but massage it with her hands.

Their tossing and turning last night had been too intense.

Upon remembering the fervour of last night, a red hue flooded her visage, her heartbeat quickening as her body heated up slightly.

When Su Yu and Su Zhu heard the movement inside the room as they were waiting outside, they immediately put down the embroidery work in their hands and stepped in.

Then, they secretly laughed in their hearts when they caught a glimpse of their Young Lady’s red face.

The pair carried over the tools for freshening up, their movements efficient as they waited upon Ruan Xi in washing and dressing up, before they tidied up the bed.

After going through her morning routine, Ruan Xi partook in her lunch while constantly having the feeling that something was missing, only to realise that her little boy was missing shortly after.

“Su Yu, let the wetnurse carry over the Little Young Master.”

“Young Lady, the Little Young Master is with Furen,” replied Su Yu in a prompt manner.

“Clean up for a bit, [I] will be going to the main courtyard later.” Once Ruan Xi learned that the little guy was with Wen furen, she could not wait to see her little boy.

“Young Lady, are yõu not going to rest for a while more today?” Su Zhu blurted out.

Su Yu’s lip corners jerked.

This little girl Su Zhu was really something, what was she blindly saying?

Ruan Xi’s ears heated up and she could not help but glower at Su Zhu, feeling both ashamed and angry.

“No need, I’m quite energetic.”

How could she sleep more when she had slept until midnoon? She was about to sleep her face away.

It was apparent that Su Zhu realised what she just said. Her neck shrank and she tried her best to minimise her sense of existence behind Su Yu.

Su Yu was utterly speechless.

Ruan Xi was both annoyed and amused when she saw Su Zhu’s reaction, though that bit of embarrassment was tossed beyond the topmost clouds very quickly.

When she arrived at the main courtyard, the little guy was asleep, and his slumber was very deep.

With a concerned gaze resembling Wen furen, Ruan Xi caressed the little guy’s small face with incomparable carefulness and gentleness.

Boundless satisfaction brimmed in her heart.

Afterwards, the popo and erxi went outside to chatter idly, with laughter mixing into their conversation, and one afternoon passed just like that.

During that span of time, neither of them mentioned Zhao yiniang and her daughter.

The pair in question, however, came over to brush up their sense of existence once.

A few days later, Ruan Xi and Wen Ting Zhou went to the Yunhua Temple together to meet Great Master Hui Yuan.

After receiving permission, Wen Ting Zhou smiled slightly, “Go ahead, I’ll wait for you here.”

“Mn.”

Ruan Xi returned a smiling expression to Wen Ting Zhou before she took a deep breath, albeit inaudibly. Then, she followed a small novice monk inside Great Master Hui Yuan’s room alone.

After Great Master Hui Yuan caught sight of Ruan Xi, his hands clasped together as he maintained a benevolent smiling expression.

“Benefactor Ruan has arrived.”

Ruan Xi placed her palms together and gave a Buddhist-oriented bow, “One has seen the Great Master.

“Great Master, yõu saw through the fact that I was not a person of this dynasty last year, and when I mentioned that I wanted to light an altar lamp for her then, why didn’t you tell me that the truth was that she was me, and I was her?” Ruan Xi could not resist voicing the doubt she harboured in her heart after staying silent for a long moment.

“Congratulating Benefactor Ruan for recalling the mortal past events.” Great Master Hui Yuan offered a small smile.

“Benefactor Ruan does not need to get to the root of it; with cause there will inevitably be consequences. If Benefactor Ruan hadn’t chosen to light the altar lamp back then, Benefactor Ruan might not necessarily have awakened the memories prior to her birth.”

Ruan Xi was stunned.

Was that true or false?

Was Great Master Hui Yuan not deceiving her for certain?

However, upon remembering that Great Master Hui Yuan had once seen through the transmigrator identities of her and Ruan san niang, he definitely had to be an enlightened person with superior achievements. Perhaps Great Master Hui Yuan was not trying to deceive her.

Ruan Xi’s brows loosened as she revealed a relaxed smile.

“Many thanks to the Great Master for resolving the doubt.”

Great Master Hui Yuan recited the line ‘Amibitha’, before stating that the fate of the past life was being continued in this life, and to treasure the person in front of her eyes.

Ruan Xi’s eyes widened, meeting those eyes of Great Master Hui Yuan’s which seemed to perceive everything with clarity. Subsequently, she remembered Wen Ting Zhou’s ending of spending his last years alone, which caused heartfelt distress and guilt to fill her heart.

After coming out from the meditation room, Ruan Xi gazed at the tall, broad, and handsome man standing and waiting in the distance. All of sudden, she strode over quickly to hug him, as tight as possible.

“Ruan Ruan, what’s the matter with you?” Wen Ting Zhou caressed her smooth hair gently.

“It’s nothing, just wanted to hug you.” Ruan Xi said in muffled tones as she buried her head in his chest.

The edges of Wen Ting Zhou’s mouth curled up slightly, and both of his arms wrapped around her waist.

The pair embraced each other quietly.

The spring sunlight sprinkled on their bodies, covering them with a layer of soft golden light, just like a beautiful painted scroll.

In the distance, Su Yu, Su Zhu, Zhang Qing, and the rest of the entourage witnessed the scene, and they raised their heads to look at the sky in succession.

After a while, Ruan Xi raised her head from Wen Ting Zhou’s chest in embarrassment, then she pulled on his slender, long, and warm larger hand, her footsteps light and fast as she moved towards a certain place.

Upon seeing the familiar small meditation room in front, the tips of Wen Ting Zhou’s eyebrows raised as a smirk graced his lips.

Delighted and overjoyed.

“Ruan Ruan, you’ve recalled it?”

“Mn.”

This time, Ruan Xi did not deny it.

“For the life-gracing grace, a life should be given in devotion. Ruan Ruan, not only did I fulfil my promise, but I fell in love with you as well.”

Wen Ting Zhou chuckled softly, his gaze warm as he looked at Ruan Xi, whilst a confession spilled out without any warning.

Two smears of red stained Ruan Xi’s face suddenly, her heart thumping nonstop as if it was a young fawn randomly stumbling around. Feeling uncomfortable, she changed the topic.

“It’s getting late, we should be returning to the residence.”

Wen Ting Zhou issued a light laugh, his mild voice teeming with indulgence, “Alright, let us return to the residence.”

Having said that, he extended his hand to brush the dark strands beside her cheek to the back of her ear before he held her hand, interlocking their ten fingers as he walked outwards.

After that trip to the Yunhua Temple, the feelings between Wen Ting Zhou and Ruan Xi unconsciously became sweeter and steadier.

Following that were enriching and peaceful days.

Ruan san niang still showed no signs of stopping, wherein there would be news of her disturbing the foetal energy once every few days.

Towards this, Ruan Xi was so used to it that it had become normal.

If it were not for her healing system ability, Ruan san niang would never dare to play crazy everywhere and anywhere despite being pregnant.

Time went by in a flash; in a blink of an eye, more than a month had passed.

Today, Zhao yiniang and her daughter went to the temple to offer incense.

Ruan Xi dimly mused that this day had finally arrived.

In the middle of the afternoon, the news of Zhao yiniang and her daughter encountering bandits and being killed as they were on the road to the temple reached Ruan Xi’s ears.

Ruan Xi felt her entire body relax.

After more than two months, Zhao yiniang and her daughter were finally dealt with.
