Riel: Sorry for the late update. I had one last presentation for my final on the 14th, but I didn’t expect that rendering 6000 frames would take me a week to finish. I was afraid that it couldn’t finish on time for my final presentation. So I was stressing so much about it and couldn’t sleep much. My laptop also couldn’t get a moment to rest for a full week. My brain was so full of worries that I didn’t have the proper mood to translate.

After my final was officially finished I took two days break and now I’ll be active again!! Yayy!! Also, I posted the chapter that should be up for this week and for those who are curious about what kind of things I did for my final, check it out on my ko-fi !

 

It seemed like the relationship between Huanyi’s CEO who came personally to inspect and the sickly-looking Zhou Siyu wasn’t bad—— This rumor spread through the production crew like it had grown wings when the cast heard that Lu Xingzhou had given the production crew an investment in one payment. 

When Siyu returned to the shooting site after finishing her make-up again, she was keenly aware that the gazes of the people around her were completely different from before; it was curiosity tinged with a little bit of concealed fear.

After all, she was a woman who was able to be connected to the Lu family!  What Siyu didn’t know was that virtually everyone there silently tacked on the label “must not provoke” onto her image in their heart.

He seemed to be reporting to someone. Then he grumbled, “Say, why would you suddenly add onto your scenes when you were fine before? Hurry up and finish shooting so you can leave. Now you’ve made it so that I can’t go back and report.”

Just now, Director Liang said he wanted to add more scenes into Siyu’s script and Siyu actually agreed. This made Lu Xingzhou dumbfounded. All kinds of pleas couldn’t make this stubborn little girl budge. Hence, the time that Siyu would stay in the crew was once again extended. This time, it really wasn’t known when she would be able to return to Jiang City.

If he had known earlier, he would have knocked her out and sent her back! What was the point of spending that money? This sly rabbit ran away as soon as she got the money!

Lu Xingzhou beat his chest and stomped his feet. However, this all only happened in his mind. At this moment, this little girl was someone who Fifth Master specifically told him to look after properly. If by chance Siyu tattled on him, who knows? He might be thrown to Africa to dig up a mine. After all, Fifth Master Lu wasn’t someone who was restricted by familial relations. Lu Xingzhou firmly believed that this kind of thing could happen.

“Director Liang values me and is willing to give me this opportunity.  I naturally have to take the opportunity.” Siyu replied cheerfully. To be honest, her physical condition wasn’t suitable for shooting a movie for a long time. Originally, Siyu planned to play as an extra and leave, but Xu Qingwan seemed to be deliberately targeting her. Siyu herself wasn’t a saint. Since Xu Qingwan—intentionally or not—wanted to drive her away from the production crew, then she would stay just to spite her!

“Thank you for your help this time, CEO Lu. If you hadn’t followed up with investment, I would be leaving dejectedly. Just the thought of it makes me feel quite indignant.” Siyu sighed softly.

Lu Xingzhou snorted coldly, “You are Fifth Master’s person. If you were bullied by outsiders, wouldn’t it be a shame to our Lu family? The corner of Siyu’s lips twitched. She took out her phone in an attempt to explain things to Fifth Master. After the  Fifth Master’s sudden appearance last time, Siyu had discovered an unfamiliar number saved on her phone. However, when Siyu dialed the number, she found that——

She had also been blocked.

“……” Fine, If he didn’t want to listen [to her explanation], then she wouldn’t try to call. Siyu thought, Fifth Master Lu, you [formal] aren’t ‘three years old Lu’, right? Blocking people once you’re aggravated, could you not be so unreasonable?

Right at that moment, Director Liang called for a meeting. Siyu swiftly ditched Lu Xingzhou and ran over. Chen Yue followed Siyu with clothes in her hand and whispered, “Siyu-jie, you still have a slight fever. Are you really all right?”

“It’s nothing. I’m used to it, and the air is also better here. “ With good fortune by her side, whatever things came, she wouldn’t be afraid. Therefore, she didn’t take this slight fever seriously.

Since Chen Yue failed to persuade her, she could only carry the medicine bag as she followed behind Siyu at the latter’s heels, deathly afraid that Siyu would collapse.

As she reached Director Liang’s side, Siyu saw Xu Qingwan at a glance. She seemed to have readjusted her mentality. When she faced Siyu, she could still show a smiling face and looked like she didn’t have any ill feelings. Ji Lin was also called over, but this guy seemed rather gloomy. When Siyu approached him, he just looked down to the ground. No matter what, he would not raise his head, as if there was something on the ground that fascinated him.

Xu Qingwan chuckled lightly, “Siyu, I didn’t expect you to have such a good relationship with CEO Lu.”

Siyu was not in the mood to deal with her probing statement that concealed a hidden needle. She walked straight over to Ji Lin. When she approached, Ji Lin subconsciously pursed his lips into a thin line. He tried to pretend that he didn’t care, but a sentence from Siyu immediately broke his pretense.

“Don’t sulk, I’ve never doubted you.” Siyu poked Ji Lin’s arm. The silly child still didn’t look at her, but he awkwardly shifted one step over to her side. When Siyu saw it, she couldn’t help laughing, “Alright, alright. Look, I’m okay now and I can continue shooting with you. Don’t be angry anymore, okay?”

 

After she patiently waited for a while, Ji Lin finally spoke in a melancholic voice, “Jie, why won’t you tell me anything….” He didn’t even know when Duan Rulan looked for Siyu!

He was Siyu’s blood-related younger brother and was also a grown-up man. He should be the one to resolve these troublesome matters for her! However, he was kept in the dark for so long. He didn’t even know that his own sister had encountered such trouble, not until this time when Duan Rulan cut off the Ji family’s investment and almost drove Siyu out of the production crew….. He didn’t want to be the last person to know!

Seeing Ji Lin was on his way to bringing up past events again, Siyu immediately appeased him in a coaxing manner. He took advantage of the time that Siyu was listening to Director Liang go over the scene to speak to Assistant Xiao Ai, “Didn’t Green Fruit TV want me to be a special guest for the new season of the  《Unfathomable Challenge》? “

Xiao Ai answered, slightly confused, “Yes, their program crew did indeed send out an invitation. But didn’t you say that there might be a schedule conflict, so you didn’t accept the offer?”

《Unfathomable Challenge》 was a variety show with the highest ratings in recent years. The program had six regulars and each week, the program would invite two mysterious stars. They’d be divided into four pairs through drawing lots. However, the interesting part was that the two people that ended up in the same group wouldn’t actually be teammates. Their real teammates were hidden in the other group, and so everyone’s task was to complete the challenge while at the same time trying their best to be a stumbling block for the other people in their group.

It was precisely because of this that the program was given nicknames by the fans as “the place where one’s friendship is ruined” and “come on, let’s hurt each other”. Every time stars with good relationships showed up together on the program, they would doubt each other’s comradeship. After all, in regards to selling their teammates, everyone was a professional.

Ji Lin nodded and said, “You can discuss with them and see whether the other special guest has been decided or not. If not, let them know that if they successfully invite my sister…..Zhou Siyu, then I’ll agree to be on their show!”

Wasn’t it just a test to the level of each other’s tacit understanding? Ji Lin confidently thought, he and his elder sister were connected by blood. If other people joined the program and came back doubting life, this clearly just showed that their relationship wasn’t close enough. As long as he went together with Siyu, they’d certainly be able to win easily!

Siyu didn’t know at all that this silly brother of hers was already planning how to abduct her over to the program. After Siyu and Xu Qingwan finished listening to Director Liang’s speech about the alteration in the script, Siyu’s complexion was just as usual while Xu Qingwan didn’t look so good.

“Director Liang, with such change, won’t Yunhe be equivalent to a third female lead? Won’t this affect the rhythm of the film……” Xu Qingwan tightly clenched her hands into a fist. She was both shocked and angry.

She had never thought that she tried to steal a chicken only to end up losing the rice 1. Not only did she fail to drive Siyu out of the production crew, but she instead helped her gain more scenes! 

Originally, Yun He only appeared for two minutes or so at the beginning of the movie. Now, Director Liang changed the plot of Yunhe’s death from being tortured by the rebel army. He directly increased her scenes while cutting down on the scenes for the second female lead, Yun Meng. When Yun He was captured, she was caught by the leader of the rebel army – who was also the new emperor Ji Lin played as. The new emperor admired her will to die instead of submitting. He also admired how a weak woman like her could stand fearlessly before the towering army and loudly enumerate his “crimes” one by one. The new emperor wasn’t willing to kill such a proud and unyielding remarkable woman. However, he could not let the tiger return to the mountains. Hence, he imprisoned Yun He in the underground secret room beneath his sleeping quarters.  

After that, the new emperor ascended to the throne. He ruled over a vast territory and had countless beauties. Yet he frequently visited the underground palace to talk with Yun He. Yun He’s attitude towards the new emperor had never softened, she didn’t speak all day long. Only when the new emperor asked for her advice about the people’s livelihood would she open her mouth and express her opinions. Her knowledge and bearing impressed the new emperor. Although due to her year-round imprisonment and the poor condition Yun He’s body was originally in, she had long been reduced to the bare bones 2. Her body wasn’t the least bit supple and graceful like the women in the imperial harem. However, the new emperor didn’t mind this and instead ran to her side more and more frequently.

Later on, this secret was perceived by Yun Meng. She had long fallen in love with the new emperor amidst their love and hate entanglement. But now she suddenly discovered that her sister unexpectedly did not die and had become the cinnabar mole 3 in the emperor’s heart. So, overcome by jealousy, she burned the underground palace down and killed Yun He. 

The new script obviously had more tension than the previous version. The character, Yun He, was depicted to the highest possibility. Xu Qingwan knew with the Lu family’s interference, the sponsor behind her, Chairman Wang, wouldn’t even dare to let out a fart, let alone fight for her scenes. Therefore, she could only grit her teeth and go into the battle. 

This time, Xu Qingwan didn’t dare to stir any trouble. She didn’t even mention adlibbing. Instead, it was Siyu who got more and more ideas as the filming progressed. She had been an author in the first place, so she had a creative imagination. When she was struck with inspiration, she immediately pulled Director Liang over to discuss. This made Director Liang continuously giddy that he had found such a treasure. Therefore, towards Siyu, he invested more and more heart into guiding Siyu.

With Lu Xingzhou personally supervising the scene, the first part of the filming proceeded very smoothly. They quickly entered the part where the new emperor portrayed by Ji Lin faced Siyu.

When Ji Lin changed his clothes and came out, Siyu’s eyes brightened. No wonder he had such a large number of girl fans. These good looks, this physique, these long legs….She tutted. As Siyu looked at her younger brother’s bright, handsome and charming appearance, she suddenly felt very proud. However, she didn’t know that when her younger brother looked at her, he was also thinking: this fresh chinese4 cabbage, he must take good care of it. He absolutely wouldn’t let people casually dig it up!
