Xiang Kun definitely would not be able to work. Jobs that required human interaction were not suitable. Jobs that required the employee to be in the office were not suitable either.

However, Xiang Kun had no choice. He had not graduated from university and worked for several years for nothing. Apart from working overtime, he didn’t spend his free time on entertainment, but on mastering new skills. Initially, he thought that he would have bigger job responsibilities after his company developed and got listed.

Although he could not look for a job or go to work, he could work from home. That should not be a problem, and in fact, he had the ability to do that.

Although his income would not be stable, at least his time would be flexible and he would not need to interact with other people. It was a better choice for now.

After a few rounds of changes to his body, not only had his bodily functions improved, his cognitive abilities and memory had improved too. He could focus for a longer period of time.

In the past, if he needed more than 50 hours to complete a certain task, he could finish it within 30 hours as he could concentrate and work continuously. If he did not eat or drink or rest, he could finish it in slightly over a day.

However, Xiang Kun did not start working immediately. That was because he had another thought after he returned from the hiking trip with Tang Baona.

Sell his apartment and return to his hometown.

After graduation, Xiang Kun entered the company and worked for seven years. He could be considered one of the founding members of the company.

Considering the number of years he had worked and his contribution to the company, his salary was considerably low. However, in the past, he was not bothered, because he was more concerned with the stocks of the company than the pay.

After his company went bankrupt, the stocks were useless. The goals he had worked towards for seven years crumbled. However, unlike the other employees in the company, he had not made many excessive expenditures. Most of the salary he had earned was used to purchase the new apartment.

An apartment that was away from city center was not as expensive as apartments closer to the city center. The inflation was also slower. However, since he had purchased the place, there was an 8,000 yuan per square meter increase in the value of the apartment.

If he sold the apartment now and repaid the outstanding loans, in addition to his savings, he could have more than one million yuan.

In the year 2019, one million yuan was not considered little in the city. However, it was not a huge sum, as one could not purchase a good apartment with that amount of money.

At the start, Xiang Kun thought that he could dedicate the apartment to his parents if he died from the “illness”.

At the start, he was only thinking about “treatment” and stayed in the city. If he was forced to be hospitalized, the conditions in the hospital in the city would definitely be better.

However, his thoughts changed tremendously after the cycles of blood-drinking and undergoing changes in his body.

Especially after the hiking trip with Tang Baona, he thought that it might be better for him to go to a less populated place far from the bustling city.

Indeed, he had no reason to stay in the city.

If he went back to his hometown, he would purchase insurance for his parents using the one million yuan, then save the rest of the money. He would only need a small portion of money to live for a few years.

If he did not get married, have children, or live a luxurious life, his expenditures would be very little.

Xiang Kun had yet to make the final decision regarding whether he should leave or stay.

However, no matter what, he would definitely get the apartment back from his tenant.

In the past, the tenant was the only tenant of Xiang Kun’s apartment and had rented it since he bought the apartment. Both of them were negotiable and could come to a compromise with each other. They had gotten along relatively well for the past few years.

Before the tenant left, he had cleaned the house for Xiang Kun. Therefore, Xiang Kun did not see a mess when he went over.

When he bought the apartment, it came with simple furniture. Therefore, he did not spend money on renovating the apartment. He thought that he would renovate it again if he got the apartment back for himself, hence he had only bought a few necessary pieces of furniture and electrical appliances, like the air-conditioner and washing machine. The television and refrigerator were bought by the tenant.

Although the tenant was a nice person, he had two children. After a few years, the walls and floor were slightly damaged or dirty. However, since it was a cheap design, Xiang Kun did not bother and returned the deposit without hesitation.

After cleaning the house again, Xiang Kun moved over at night. After all, he did not have many belongings in the rented apartment, so it had only taken one hour to pack.

When he was moving in, a chubby girl who looked like she was in kindergarten was looking into Xiang Kun’s house while sucking on her lollipop.

“Girl, what’s the matter?” Xiang Kun asked her with a friendly tone as he walked over.

The chubby girl took out her lollipop and asked Xiang Kun as she continued to peek in, “Brother Xiaomin and Brother Xiaofeng moved out?”

Xiang Kun guessed that “Brother Xiaomin” and “Brother Xiaofeng” were probably the children of the tenant. Both of them were boys and should be in primary school now.

“Yes, they moved out. However, they did not move too far away. They are living in an area nearby. They didn’t tell you beforehand?”

The chubby girl pouted and seemed unhappy. She did not reply to Xiang Kun and turned to walk away. After a few steps, she ran back and took out a lollipop from her pocket and passed it to Xiang Kun. “Uncle, this is for you.”

Xiang Kun was stunned. Just as he was about to reject her offer, he saw the chubby girl’s expression and hesitated. Ultimately, he accepted the lollipop and touched the girl’s head. “Thank you, what’s your name?”

“I am Liu Shiling. ‘Shi’ for poem and ‘ling’ for bell1. I live in apartment number 706, over there!” said the girl as she pointed towards an apartment with its doors wide open on the other side of the hall.

“We are neighbors, see you around in the future!” Xiang Kun smiled and nodded.

The girl nodded. “Yes, see you around.”

On the first night in his apartment, Xiang Kun did not immediately head out to familiarize himself with his surroundings. Instead, he lied on the balcony and looked at the moon in the sky quietly.

After purchasing the apartment, he had thought about what it would feel like when he moved in.

Of course, he thought that he would have renovated and changed all his furniture when he moved in. He would also have been married.

He even thought that the apartment would be another more luxurious one, perhaps one with a scenic view, an apartment in the city center or a resort in a quiet area.

That was what he imagined when he was free.
