Because Xiang Kun had just beaten the 1.9 meter tall trainer Shen, he became the subject of discussion in the gym. Some people began to take videos of him doing squats, and all of these people were large-sized men…

Xiang Kun did expect the best to result in this—it made him feel rather helpless.

Finally, he finished tracking his records for squats and deadlifts. They were 210kg and 240kg respectively.

These were nearly twice his records in university.

Meanwhile, from the impressed expressions of the muscular men in the gym, he could tell that his records were pretty good.

After doing some simple stretching exercises, Xiang Kun left the gym and went to the supermarket to buy some things.

In the supermarket, Xiang Kun’s phone rang. He took it out and saw an incoming call. He was taken by surprise—it was his roommate from university, the one who had taken him to the gym.

That was rather coincidental.

When Xiang Kun was a student, he was rather introverted.

However, both in high school and university, he had a few close friends. Chang Bin, the roommate who was calling him, was one of his closest friends.

“Brat, why aren’t you replying to me on WeChat? Are you no longer using WeChat or are you ignoring me on purpose?” Chang Bin complained after Xiang Kun picked up the phone.

“I haven’t really checked WeChat recently. I forgot to reply to my dad’s text messages, then my mom had to call me,” replied Xiang Kun. “Why are you calling me so suddenly?”

“I’m here to help you, of course! Have you found a job?”

Xiang Kun felt strange. “How do you know I lost my job?”

Chang Bin stated a company in the call and said, “This is my girlfriend’s company. Her company is starting a new project and is recruiting workers. A few workers from your old company came for job interviews and said that the company had gone bankrupt. She heard from me that you were working at that company and hence told me about it. I think you can try to go for the interview if you still haven’t found a job. My girlfriend said that based on your ability and experience, it shouldn’t be a problem for you. Her company treats their workers quite well. If you enter, your salary should not be any lower than your previous salary. Moreover… my girlfriend is responsible for recruiting…”

Chang Bin was hinting that he would help Xiang Kun. Xiang Kun was touched. Although he still had some savings now, he still had to pay for his apartment, and it would not work if he remained unemployed. However, considering his current condition, he hesitated for a moment before replying, “Thank you, A Bin, but I am planning to rest for a while and am not looking for a job yet.”

“It’s good for you to take a break. You have been working so hard these past few years and wasted your youth. Take this opportunity to find a girlfriend and get into a relationship. Speaking of that… where are you now? Since you are unemployed, you should have nothing to do. Come over to Xichun Road for a meal.”

“Urgh, forget about the meal.” Xiang Kun was most afraid of eating with others, as he could not ingest any food. He could not possibly start drinking blood in front of someone.

“Stop your nonsense, come over now. I will send you my location, take a cab over.”

Xiang Kun continued to reject his invitation. “I have already eaten…”

Chang Bin insisted, “Even if you have eaten, come over. I will introduce someone to you. You can watch us eat!”

“Sigh… You know I am not used to socializing…”

“You have worked for so many years, why do you still not understand? Working alone does not work in this world! You have done projects involving many people and collaborations between departments, right? You should meet your ex-classmates when you are free and connect with them. Whenever you meet difficulties, you can help each other out and get closer. Perhaps in the future, at critical times, things could be resolved if you help each other out.”

“I understand, but this is my personality…” Xiang Kun would not talk much if he was talking to someone whom he was not close to. Perhaps he would not even answer a phone call from them. However, the relationship between him and Chang Bin was different. Xiang Kun also knew that Chang Bin was being genuine.

“Alright, alright, I will not lecture you today. There won’t be any outsiders. I was planning to introduce my girlfriend… Actually, my fiancée! I mentioned her name to you many times, and we have been dating for more than a year, but you haven’t had the chance to meet her… Anyway, if you don’t come over, I will blacklist you. You decide, alright?”

Xiang Kun sighed and said helplessly, “Fine, I will go over and chat with you, but I won’t be eating…”

Xiang Kun rushed to the restaurant at 6 PM. He saw Chang Bin and his fiancée, Wang Han.

“What the f*ck, where are your glasses? Why did you shave your head? You scared me, I nearly didn’t recognize you.” Chang Bin only recognized Xiang Kun when he sat down.

“I decided to change my appearance since I lost my job. Anyway, I have been losing quite a lot of hair, so I might as well just shave all of it away,” said Xiang Kun with a smile. Then he turned to the beautiful girl who was dressed professionally and said, “You must be Wang Han. Although it’s our first meeting, I have always heard praises about you from A Bin.”

Wang Han smiled and replied, “Same here, Brother Bin always mentions you to me. He says you were the smartest in their class since year one.”

“What a liar! Yeah, smart, look, all my hair is gone because of that…” Xiang Kun smiled as he touched his bald head.

Wang Han was a beautiful lady with a small build. She was local and was professional at speaking, exuding an aura of a respectable lady. From what Chang Bin had said, although Wang Han was two years younger than them, she was already assuming a managerial position in her company and was a good worker.

However, perhaps Chang Bin had told her beforehand, since Wang Han had not mentioned the job position to Xiang Kun. They chatted casually and brought up things from their university lives. The atmosphere was great.

“The ox bone soup is pretty good. Although you have finished dinner, you can still drink it,” said Chang Bin as he scooped the soup into Xiang Kun’s bowl.

Xiang Kun quickly shifted the bowl away. “No, no, I have been going to the gym recently. I just came back from the gym and ate my nutritious meal, so I cannot eat anything else.”

Chang Bin was stunned and looked at him before nodding and saying, “Hmm, no wonder I feel like you have lost some weight. That is good, you should exercise. I think you are in much better condition now—you look ten years younger. Hmm, I should go to the gym sometime soon too.”

Wang Han said, “Do you want some fruit salad?”

“No, no, I can just drink some water. We’ll have a meal together another day,” said Xiang Kun. He finally persuaded the two of them with that excuse.
