Jiang Wangshu received yet another call from Ji Cai. Her tone was much better than that of the last. She asked him to persuade Duan Xiuze to come back early. The Duan family had to take him to the hospital for a new physical examination.

Jiang Wangshu refused. He said to her, “He doesn’t have any money. When he runs out, he’ll go back on his own.”

Ji Cai was quite surprised, “How come? Didn’t he transfer hundreds of millions to himself?”

“He left it when we divorced. It was in the agreement”

Ji Cai stammered, “Ah? Do you have it all, then?”

“I do.”

Ji Cai’s attitude towards him changed once more, “Well, I said that you’re still young. If you get divorced, you’ll get divorced. It’s good that there are at least a few hundred million left. What can’t you do with this money in the future? Just don’t bother Xiuze any more.”

“Your hundreds of millions are nothing in the eyes of the Duan family. Xiuze will definitely marry a girl with the same family status. How could ours compare? You don’t know what kind of wife will be laughed at after you two eloped…” she continued.

Ji Cai spoke a lot, but Jiang Wangshu had already put his phone away early on, and started browsing the morning news.

When she finished, Jiang Wangshu picked up his phone and said, “I have something else to do here. I’ll hang up first.”

Without waiting for her response, he hung up the phone.

Jiang Wangshu made a simple breakfast, ate it casually, and went to work.

He had opened a tech company in this science and technology park. The company wasn’t very large, but it wasn’t small either.

Duan Xiuze in particular, had invested a large sum of money to expand his business. It was still in it’s early stages. If it’s successful, his turnover in this year would be more than ten times that of last year.

This company was a partnership between him and Duan Xiuze. Duan Xiuze had 30% of the shares. But after the divorce, Jiang Wangshu deliberately ignored this fact. Otherwise, he’d have to deal with this with the clueless Duan Xiuze.

Although Duan Xiuze cleanly left their relationship, except for signing the prenup, they never clarified other ownership rights. Only the huge amount of money was deposited in Jiang Wangshu’s account at the beginning.

Jiang Wangshu had the right to control their money from the start, but he actually rarely spent Duan Xiuze’s money.

Although it was called a partnership, there was still an invisible gap between them.

Past nine o’clock, Secretary Zhao Yu knocked on the door and entered his office. He handed Jiang Wangshu a stack of thick documents and said, “Boss, there’s someone who claims to be your friend wanting to see you.”

“What’s their name?”

“He said it was Meng Wen.”

“Just say that I’m not here,” Jiang Wangshu said.

Zhao Yu then conveyed Jiang Wangshu’s words to the front desk, but he soon returned with Meng Wen’s words, “Boss, Mr. Meng said that he had a business deal to negotiate with you.”

Jiang Wangshu smoothly changed his words, “Please prepare some refreshments and ask him to come up.”

Zhao Yu immediately nodded.

Meng Wen soon arrived at Jiang Wangshu’s office with a bunch of roses in his hands.

Jiang Wangshu’s eyelids slightly twitched. He remembered that Duan Xiuze had inadvertently mentioned it once before, a long time ago, he said that Meng Wen used to have a crush on him.

At the time, Jiang Wangshu had said it was impossible, and they both left it at that, but now…

Jiang Wangshu didn’t say anything. He calmly told Zhao Yu to take the flowers away and asked Meng Wen to sit down. He then sat opposite him.

Meng Wen smiled at him. Without mentioning his roses, he began to properly talk about work.

Jiang Wangshu also conversed with him as if nothing had happened. Finally, they agreed on a ten million dollar deal, and the contract was to be signed on another day. In order to fulfill his host’s honor, Jiang Wangshu dutifully invited Meng Wen for a meal.

Meng Wen unsurprisingly nodded. “Shall we go right now, then?” he suggested.

Jiang Wangshu replied with a smile and chose a high-end restaurant with a good reputation.

Meng Wen took this opportunity to let Duan Xiuze in on his progress. He took a picture of Jiang Wangshu’s side profile as he got off the car, sent it, and attached a sentence, “Brother Ex-husband, things are going well.”

Worried that Duan Xiuze would effectively brainwash him again, Meng Wen went to return him to the blacklist after sending the news.

Duan Xiuze was eating when he heard the notification. He clicked on it and saw the message sent by Meng Wen. He was lost in his thoughts, but soon came back to himself as he heard a faint “crack.”

He found that the phone screen in his hands had been utterly broken by him.

Duan Xiuze first went to the nearby phone store to change his screen. It took a whole noon, and by that point, Meng Wen had already finished his meal with Jiang Wangshu.

There’s no need to care so much, he thought. Whether Meng Wen could chase after Jiang Wangshu or not depends on his ability.

But Meng Wen wasn’t that good, you know? He was a playboy. When he was in high school, he’d change several girlfriends in a single month.

Since Jiang Wangshu had to choose the best one as his marriage partner, he wouldn’t pick Meng Wen, would he?

Just after his phone was repaired, Duan Xiuze received a call from Duan Long. She simply asked when Duan Xiuze would go home.

Hearing Duan Long’s voice, Duan Xiuze absentmindedly asked, “Mom, why would I want to elope with Jiang Wangshu before?”

Duan Long paused for a bit before saying, “You shouldn’t ask me about this kind of thing. You should ask yourself. But, Wangshu really is a very good child. It’s not strange for you to like him.”

Duan Xiuze always knew that Duan Long was strict and strong, but she was also very accepting. Generally speaking, she was still a good mother. When he heard Duan Long say so, he actually agreed.

No matter how he and Jiang Wangshu couldn’t get along, you can’t deny how outstanding he is. His grades have always been among the best. Even in a noble school full of rich and second-generation officials, he was still on a different level, while being neither humble nor arrogant.

The Jiang Wangshu who looked like a Mingming high school student was so vivid in his mind, and yet when he woke up, he’d already matured so much. He’s grown too tall, his green and astringent taste completely faded, turning into an indescribable flavor.

Duan Long did not forget to remind him, “But now that you lost your memory and divorced him, come back home. I’m not denying you of free love, but as your mother, I have the right to participate and decide on such a major event like marriage.”

“Wenxin will graduate next year. You’ll come back to meet her and set a marriage date for next year,” she added.

Duan Xiuze was stunned, “Lou Wenxin?”

“Yes, what wrong?”

“She’s only fourteen! She’s still a junior-high student!”

“No? She’s 20 years old and will graduate from university next year.”

“No, she’s fourteen.” Duan Xiuze was adamant about this.

Duan Long frowned, “You have amnesia. Your memory returned to when you were seventeen. It doesn’t mean you are seventeen.”

“Even if Mars collides with Earth today, Lou Wenxin is still 14 years old.”

Duan Long: “….”

After a pause, she promptly asked, “Do you still miss Wangshu?”

“No, no, how can I explain to you that I’m just a high school student. A mature and reliable lady once told me that high school students were not allowed to have puppy love,” Duan Xiuze proudly explained.

This brat—

“That high school student is going to play basketball now. Goodbye.”

With that, Duan Xiuze hung up the phone.

Duan Long could only stare at the cut off call in silence.

Duan Xiuze naturally didn’t go to play basketball. He dazedly looked at the few thousand yuan left in his balance. He trembled as he thought about how Duan Long would set him up with Lou Wenxin, a junior high school student.

He’d better play outside for a while. He didn’t need to worry about the college entrance examination, anyways.

Oh right, which school did he end up going to?

Duan Xiuze thought that his goal was a big one, so he sent a message to ask Duan Long, who shortly replied: B University.

Duan Xiuze then asked, “Which university did Jiang Wangshu go to?”

Duan Long didn’t immediately answer like before. Duan Xiuze asked again, “Mom, what about him? Which university did Jiang Wangshu go to? Which university did he go to? Which university? Which university? Which? University? Which?”

Duan Xiuze: “Mom!!!!!! Which university did he go to???”

He was like a broken record, Duan long couldn’t bear it anymore. She replied, “Also B University.”

Duan Xiuze: “OK, OK, OK.”

Duan Long: “Come back soon.”

“No, I want to work in a factory.”

Duan Long: “….”

“At the age of 17, one should enter an electronics factory, not marry a junior high school student.”

It’s like you could just tell he was puffing up his chest as he said this.

Seventeen was the most difficult age to discipline. This time, there was no Jiang Wangshu to help her.

But now Duan Long didn’t want the two to have anything to do with each other anyways, so she simply decided to ignore him.

When he runs out of money, he’ll definitely know to run back home.

At the table, Meng Wen carefully looked at Jiang Wangshu. With a genuine tone, he said, “You have really grown in the past two years. You’re becoming more and more beautiful.”

Jiang Wangshu dryly said, “You’re too kind.”

Meng Wen didn’t beat around the bush, “Actually, I liked you back in junior high. I just didn’t expect you to marry Xiuze.”

Jiang Wangshu took a vague breath.

“This dish is the signature dish of this restaurant. Mr. Meng, please try it,” he said, in an attempt to change the subject.

Meng Wen had no choice but to follow his topic, not mentioning the past again, and finish his meal.

Meng Wen offered to send him home, but Jiang Wangshu refused, “No, I have something to do later.”

“Okay.” After a while, he smiled, “I said some incomprehensible words before, it seems to have made you angry. I want to apologize to you here.”

“It’s fine,” Jiang Wangshu said.

Meng Wen knew Jiang Wangshu, and he also knew what his tone meant.

He continued,”If there’s still business to discuss after this, I hope to be able to negotiate with President Jiang. What do you think?”

Jiang Wangshu roughly nodded, “Sure.”

Meng Wen breathed a sigh of relief. Knowing that he had largely succeeded, he stopped pestering him, and said goodbye before leaving.

Jiang Wangshu didn’t go back to the company, but went straight home. He got off the subway and walked the rest of the way. There was still a short distance left, when he noticed a familiar figure.

Jiang Wangshu wanted to pretend that he didn’t see him, but the other party had already did, and took a few steps in his direction.

Jiang Wangshu could only walk over to look at him. He asked, “Why are you here?”

Duan Xiuze was surprised when he saw him, “I should ask you, why are you here?”

“My house is literally in front of me. Why do you think I’m here?”

Somehow, Duan Xiuze was even more surprised when he heard him. “I just came out for a walk. No wonder I feel familiar when I see this place,” he explained.

Jiang Wangshu gave him a deep look and said, “I’m home. You should go back to the hotel early. Don’t wander around until you’re well.”

“Oh,” Duan Xiuze muttered.

Jiang Wangshu was about to leave when Duan Xiuze said, “Why don’t you ask again?”

“Ask what?”

“Ask me why I’m here.”

“Don’t want to.”

“Yes, yes, I wanted to go see Wang Ba.”

“I didn’t ask.”

Duan Xiuze put his hands together in a praying manner. His voice full of reverence as he said, “Bodhisattva Jiang, please grant my wish!”

“I’m not a Bodhisattva, I am your father.”

Duan Xiuze: “….”
