Chapter 30 (First Date)

Huo Cheng founded a company called Jinshi Technology two years ago with his old classmates from the University of A. They launched a short video app this year, which has quickly become a hit among young people in the past few months.

Like the company’s main audience, Goldstone’s employees are mostly young. Huo Cheng, who is under 30 years old, is one of the older people in the company.

Employees at Goldstone generally have the following to say about Huo Cheng

Able, motivated, straight and brown male.

He never wears make-up, never uses skin care products, has an inch haircut, and wears formal clothes all day long, although not for the sake of looking good, just to save time.

He was picked up by a variety show because of his outstanding height and looks.

Huo Cheng was repeatedly approached by the show’s team to promote his company, and eventually chose to take part in the filming of the romance show.

Because of his participation in “Red and Blue Signal”, a love story, their General Manager Huo has changed a lot.

He is no longer wearing black, grey and blue suits to the end, and is learning to wear casual clothes with a bit of style.

He’s even started using perfume.

Huo Cheng represents their company’s image on the Lovers’ Variety, and naturally the overall image has to lean towards a youthful aesthetic.

You have to be handsome to be in love with a variety.

But what they didn’t expect was that Huo Cheng would learn how to cook, just for the sake of this love show he’s in!

You know that Mr. Huo is known to be a straight man, unromantic, inconsiderate, and thick-skinned, which has always been one of his heaviest labels!

“Mr Huo is working too hard for our company, isn’t he?” A manager stands in front of the back kitchen of a restaurant, looking at Huo Cheng, who is carrying a spoon, and sighs.

He is a big man, over 5’9″, wearing a white shirt and trousers and carrying a pan in his hand, reminding him of the inappropriate, but particularly appropriate, phrase: the Queen of the Eastern Palace bakes big cakes.

How it looks clumsy, how it doesn’t match.

Huo Cheng’s partner Ming Zhou said, “You really think he’s doing it for our company.”

Huo Cheng is a very serious student.

The main reason why Hu Ying attracts so many people is not only because he is a rich white girl, but also because he is accompanied by two followers.

Just as Hu Ying had thought before, hanging out with Di Xingchen was really different from hanging out with a rich guy.

Hu Ying was so excited that he bought two light-up rabbit ears to wear on his head.

“Have you never been to a place like this before?”

Hu Ying said excitedly, “No!”

“I thought you said you used to come and hang out on our side of the school?”

“I was just showing how easy-going I am. To be honest, I’m usually so busy that even if I had time to shop, I’d go to a place like Hua Jiang.”

HONAV Tower is the most famous high-end consumer mall in South City, the CBD of South City.

“Do you know whose family Huajiang belongs to?” Hu Ying asked. “Whose family?”

” Pei Xu’s family, named after his stepfather Zhou Jiangbai and his mother Pei Huanong. Pei Huanong is now the chairman of the Hua Jiang Group.” Hu Ying said, stopping at a crane machine.

“You want to play?”

“I haven’t played this before.” Hu Ying said, pulling out his phone, “Let’s just play it all today.”

The crane machine was located at the entrance of the mall, right next to the two escalators going up. Hu Ying looked at the rows of crane machines and finally chose the one with the most pink dolls.

“You like pink so much.” Di Xingchen says.

“Yeah, I like the pink ones. You’re pretty pink too.”

Di Xingchen was stunned for a moment, then realised what Hu Ying was talking about and immediately kicked him in the leg.

Hu Ying ducked past, smiling, and scanned the code on his phone.

His first time playing, he inevitably doesn’t succeed. But he has little patience, three failures and he gets angry, six failures and he wants to kick the crane machine with his foot.

Di Xingchen said, “Why don’t I give it a try?”

“Have you ever played?”

Di Xingchen said, “No. It’s my first time playing too.”

Hu Ying took the milk tea from his hand and asked Di Xingchen to try it.

Di Xingchen looked around and spotted a plush bunny that he really liked.

Who knew that Di Xingchen would clip the doll on the first try?

Not only was Hu Ying excited, but Di Xingchen was too.

It was really the first time he had ever played.

Their hearts were in their throats when the doll was clipped to the top.

When Di Xingchen finally pinned out the pink bunny, Hu Ying couldn’t help but throw his arms up in the air: “YES!”

The milk tea was spilled from my hand.

“You can give it to me, so I can show it off when I get back.” Hu Ying said.

Di Xingchen then gave him the rabbit.

Hu Ying couldn’t get enough of it: “It’s so cute.”

Di Xingchen tried a few more times, but his luck ran out and he couldn’t get another one. Hu Ying tried a few more times, but also failed.

The two ended up with a rabbit coming out of the underground mall.

It was completely dark outside and Di Xingchen looked at the time and asked, “Isn’t it about time to go back?”

“You guys hang out one more time.” The follow-up guy said, “Give us a bit more material for the edit.”

Hu Ying smiled and said, “Then let’s go for a walk on the beach.”

They went down the road just behind the Central Dance Academy, through a shabby, dark path, and they arrived at the beach outside the Central Dance Academy playground.

This is a favourite spot for couples at the Central Dance Academy, and now, late at night, there are many couples sitting in twos and threes under the moonlight.

They had brought their follow up camera and it was not a good idea to go where there were many couples, so they kept going west.

“Can we follow this coastline all the way to the Red and Blue Hut?” Hu Ying asks.

“Yes you can, but I don’t think you can handle it, it’s a bit far.” Di Xingchen said.

“Don’t underestimate me, when I graduated from high school, I got together with some classmates for the last time after dinner, and we were supposed to take a taxi back to school after eating, but we all didn’t want to leave, so we all walked, from South City North all the way to South City East, across a small half of the city, and walked for two hours.”

Di Xingchen then asked, “Are you still in touch with that student?”

Hu Ying then turned his head to look at him, his smile surprisingly shy and sad.

“Your first love, huh?”

Hu Ying shook his head.

Di Xingchen turned back to the camera and said, “This is off limits.”

“It’s okay to broadcast it.” Hu Ying says, “It’s not a first love, it’s the first person I ever liked and one of my best friends, it counts as a crush.”

Hu Ying said and laughed a little, he grabbed the pink rabbit with one hand and scratched his hair with the other and said, “He’s abroad with his girlfriend now, he just graduated, he’s getting married soon, the door is right for him, the girl is also rich and white, they are very much in love. He even said he was going to ask me to be his best man.”

Di Xingchen nods a little.

Hu Ying asked, “What’s that look on your face.” “A look of regret for you.”

Hu Ying shook his head and said, “That relationship is long gone, now I see him again, it’s completely friend-like, but I was a teenager then, I really loved him, I’ve never had anyone chase me in my life, the only time I’ve been sad about not getting someone I like.”

Hu Ying smiled to himself, stared at him with a dark gaze and said, “Forget it, you’re a little chick.”

Di Xingchen then stifled a laugh.

Di Xingchen smiled gently and quietly, with the feeling that he was obviously touched by his words and was trying to comfort him. In the darkness, they couldn’t see each other’s faces, Hu Ying suddenly moved with true feelings and said sincerely, “It’s so nice of you, Xingchen, I hope you never shed a tear because you love someone and don’t know what it’s like.”

“I hope you won’t in the future either.” Di Xingchen said.

Then the two men looked at each other for a moment and finally laughed out loud at the same time.

“Damn it, let’s both die pretentious.” Hu Ying shouted.

Di Xingchen just burst out laughing.

A very cheerful laugh, somewhere between boyish and manly clean, cheerful, lean and tall, with a nice clean scent.

For a moment, Hu Ying felt the long-lost stirrings of youth, as if he had been transported back to his youth by Di Xingchen’s youthful scent. Di Xingchen is the kind of boy everyone had a crush on in school, right?

Gentle, clean, with a person like a white moonbeam and a heart like a complete gem.
