X-Rank Hunter

Chapter 79: Batik

Meanwhile...

On Jim's side.

Jim was currently testing if what he was thinking was correct. And his test subject? It was one of the three strongest beasts in the forest, the Bear King!

If what he was thinking was wrong, then he could only sigh in disappointment. But if it was possible, then the huge gain was really unthinkable.

He might really slaughter all the beasts in the forest and create a huge army!

Just how strong would he become if he could be like that!

Beast Monarch? Blood Monarch? Jim was now thinking what his title would be.

The fist-size bead of blood then finally floated to the bear's mouth. The excitement in Jim's heart was growing stronger the nearer the bead of blood came closer to the bear's mouth.

Until finally, the bead of blood entered the bear's mouth! And from the looks of it, it appeared that it didn't disappoint him.

Jim was astonished to see what was happening. The incredible amount of World Energy gathering to the bear was so strong that an invisible force was trying to push him away.

"Woah!" Jim was really excited despite the force pushing him away. He could see the dry corpse of the beast slowly growing with flesh and life.

It didn't just stay like that. The Bear King stood up as it unleashed his World Energy even more trying to enjoy his newfound strength. It roared like thunder as his voice sounded in the entire forest around. Many beasts and wild animals were frightened as birds flew away and ground animals and beasts tried to run away in all directions.

Slowly, the World Energy released by the Bear King calmed down. He was astonished by the fact that his strength had increased to a great extent, especially his Life Energy. He was even wondering if he'd just became an S-rank.

He thought that his days in this world were already finished when he encountered the terrifying strength of this person before him. But what he was experiencing now proved it wrong. He thought that this brat in front of him was just some random guy trying to make him his tamed beast, and he thought as well that he wouldn't gain any benefits, and his future would end if he even became his tamed beast.

But who would have thought that not only he improved his strength, the great amount of Life Energy he had was simply so abundant to the point that he felt that death was nothing at all.

Just who really is this person?!

The only cons he felt right now was that he could feel that his life and death were in the other party's control, and he felt that he couldn't defy the other party's will no matter what he did. But still, he could tell that it wasn't because he was forced to, it was just that there was some kind of willingness deep within him that he felt that he would die in regret and guilt if he tried to disobey the person before him.

Just how powerful was the beast taming technique that the other party had cast onto him? But no matter how strong it was, he could tell that this person before him, his new master, wasn't as simple as he seemed.

"Master." The Bear King bowed down in front of Jim. He was even regretting the fact that he refused the offer of the other party a while ago. Thankfully, the other party didn't give up on him and killed him to make him his tamed beast.

He never thought that it was actually a blessing in disguise! If he could just die again in his master's hand and feel again the blood of his master entering his body, how great would it be right?

"Woah!!!!" Jim's eyes were gleaming in excitement, "It really works!?!"

The Bear King stood up straight and tilted his head sideways. "What do you mean master?"

"Ah... You see, I tried something interesting and I made you the test subject. I never thought that it's actually possible!" Jim responded. His excitement just couldn't be hidden anymore.

"Test subject?" On the other hand, Bear King felt like something was wrong.

Test subject. It's a test subject, right? I didn't hear it wrong? Is he referring to me? Am I the test subject?

The Bear King finally realized that something really was amiss. The other party just said that he was just a test subject! How could it not be wrong?!

He was the king in this part of the forest. He was the strongest! Beasts all around bowed down onto him. Except for the other two Kings of which were his rivals, there was no other beast around that could be put on the same ground as him.

Just when did he stoop so low to the point that he was now just a test subject? He really felt disappointed this time.

But thinking about it now as well, in front of this person before him, he was just like a test subject. Just what was the background of his master to see him, an A-rank beast, as insignificant as a test subject!

From then, the Bear King's respect towards his new Master reached the max level. Although he felt that his master's World Energy was very thin, his Spiritual Energy was so abundant that even he was suppressed.

He never thought that there were really such people in the world. If he knew it long ago, he surely had submitted already even before when this person was still in his mother's womb.

"Yes, test subject. Why?"

In the midst of Bear King's astonishment and disappointment blending together, he heard his master asking him such a question. He really didn't want to answer him but he still replied politely, "Nothing master. Right, what do you intend to do after this?"

"Hmmmm..." Jim also pondered about it. He planned on making an army of Blood Warriors but it would consume him a certain amount of time. Right now, his wolf was being chased after by his younger brother, he needed to at least see what was going on now.

With that in mind, he planned to just create his army later. He still had a lot of time after all.

"We'll go back. You should go in my body first." Jim decided but later he asked, "Right, what's your name?"

The Bear King was still bewildered what did the other party meant about going into his body when he heard his Master asking his name. He knew what the other party wanted to know but he really didn't have such things. Only humans would do something like that.

"I am the Bear King." Instead of his name which he really had nothing, he gave his title of what others called him.

"Bear King?" Jim frowned. "That's too shabby. Let me give you one instead..."

After which, Jim contemplated for the name as he stared intently at his new tamed beast.

The Bear King was slightly taken aback. 'Bear King' was already cool enough. It showcased his strength and authority. How come it was shabby? Nevertheless, he just let his Master do his way.

"Yeah, that's it..." After a good while of thinking, Jim finally came up with a name and with a satisfied smile he added, "You will now be called..."

Hearing that his Master had finally come up with his name, the Bear King put all his attention towards the other party. His Master just told him that his current name was shabby so he was thinking what name was way cooler than it.

His master was a great character so he respected him deeply. He was expecting that everything his master came up with was great and needed to be praised and worshipped.

"Batik! [1]"

Amidst his thinking, he finally heard his Master. Bear King blinked his eyes thrice, doubting if he heard it wrong.

"Batik… Did he just say Batik?" Though the Bear King didn't say it, it was written all over his face.

Jim saw him being like that so he said joyously, "Yeah, you heard it right. Your name is Batik. From now on you must cherish your name because your master here is the one who gave you an incredible name!"

"..." 'Batik' was speechless. He couldn't make sense of how incredible his new name really was. As his confusion reached the max level, he couldn't suppress his mouth any longer as he asked "W-why?"

Instead of explaining anything, Jim raised his hand and pointed his index finger at Batik's chest. Batik had dark brown fur all over his body. On his chest, however, were many white spots that could easily be noticed. Of course, Batik knew about this. It was just that, he never thought that his master would actually base his name according to his physical appearance.

Batik could tell that his master wasn't trying to annoy him. His master really meant that the name he came up with was incredible. Just how honest and simple his master really was?

Nevertheless, Batik didn't consider the matter something that important. It was just a name after all. The strength he received from his master was what he was more concerned about and he really wished to follow his master to become much stronger in the future.

He might reign on this land if it would happen!

_____________

[1] Batik means Spot. When used as a name, to a dog or other pets, it should be 'Spotty', I think.
