Young Brother-in-law Is Now My Husband

Chapter 46: Centroid Of The Triangle!!

In a while, Lu Feng looked at Lu Lijun and instructed, "You should head back to the hall. Lu Qiang must be searching for you. I'll follow you soon."

"Okay, brother Feng." Agreeing, Lu Lijun and Wang Peng went back to the hall.

Getting up from his bench, Lu Feng headed to the tree close to it as he pulled out a cigarette and lighter once again. Lighting it up, he stood under the tree as he rested his back on the trunk, one leg bent backward. Being lost in his thoughts, he finished cigarettes one after the other.

After some time, he saw a girl in a pink dress, entering the gazebo and standing right across. She supported herself on the railing, and pressed her fingers to her temple, looked like she had a headache. As she was far away, he couldn't see her face.

Lu Feng had completed yet another cigarette as he watched her. He pulled out the cigarette packet and hunted for another one, only to find that there were none inside. He aimed at the nearby dustbin and threw the empty packet in it.

With that done, he turned to the direction of the washroom and headed to the corridor. He wanted all traces of his tiredness gone before he entered the hall again.

The brothers missed bumping into each other because Lu Feng took a left turn, and Lu Qiang had just come out of the hall.

When Lu Feng got out of the washroom, his phone started to ring. He stopped mid-step and took the call. Though he was a man of few words, Lu Feng spent a lot of time on this important call. When he hung up, he began to walk away, only to have a girl bump into him.

His chin smacked against her head, and reflexively, he moved forward to protect her from falling. Realizing what he had done, he was about to let go of the girl and let her fall, as a lot of girls had used the same tactic till now to gain his attention, but he couldn't do it.

Instead, he looked at the girl's face to see her eyes tightly shut, and her lips pressed together into a thin line as she dug her nails into his arms to stop herself from falling.

Slowly, she opened her eyes as he stared at her face. The shocked expression in her golden-brown eyes got to him. They shined brightly like stars in the night, looking as innocent as that of a scared kitten.

COUG!! COUGH!!

Suddenly, the girl started to cough that pulled him out of the daze. She sniffed and coughed yet again.

"Did you smoke? L-let me go." She continued to cough her lungs out.

He had been busy admiring her beautiful features and appealing eyes, but her odd reaction stunned him.

Getting back to his senses, he helped her up, and she immediately bolted away from him, coughing, before entering the women's washroom.

It surprised him that she hadn't reacted like other girls and clung onto him. She didn't utter an apology for bumping into him or thanked him for his help. She didn't even turn to look at him as she fled.

He was rooted to the spot, his eyes never leaving the silhouette of the girl. He sniffed his jacket and around his chest and wondered, "Is it that bad?"

As she entered the washroom, he was about to leave when a memory struck him.

"Jiang Yuyan?" he gasped, a surprised expression on his face.

People were curious about Lu Feng's whereabouts when he entered the hall. Lu Lijun was helpful and led him to where all the siblings were present. To his surprise, someone familiar was there too, and that was his childhood friend Jiang Yang.

Lu Qiang and Jiang Yang talked to each other as they remembered their childhood days while Lu Feng was shocked to see him after such a long time. They politely exchanged greetings, not knowing how to react or want to talk about.

In the past, these three had been close friends, but after Jiang Yang moved to the States, everything changed. Their lives took a different turn, and all three became too busy to cope with the difficulties in their ways.

Even though they had finally met, they could feel the distance between them. If their relationship were had been like in the past, they would have jumped with joy and greeted the others with hugs.

Jiang Yuyan, on the other hand, was cursing herself in the washroom. She didn't want to come out but knew that she had to. With a sigh, she freshened up and walked out to go back.

When she reached, the people in the party hall were busy chatting with each other or moving towards the spread of food in the hall's banquet.

She was called over to where the others were sitting. Seeing Lu Qiang, she felt awkward, but the culprit had a sly smile on his lips, and not a tinge of guilt showed in his eyes.

As usual, Lu Lijun greeted her with a cold glare, but she ignored him. It was then that her brother, Jiang Yang, beckoned her to sit beside him and introduced her to Lu Feng.

As many of the guests had left the party hall, there was enough space for them to create a big circle of seats. It was big enough to accommodate all the new generations of Lu's, Jiang's, and Wang's.

"Yuyan, this is Lu Feng. Do you remember him?" Jiang Yang asked.

Surprise flitted across her face when she noticed the man from the corridor with whom she collided, being introduced to her. She gave him an awkward smile, and neither of the two mentioned a thing about their encounter.

In the past, Jiang Yuyan would stick to these three friends like glue, and the three would protect and take care of her. She was the centroid of the triangle created by these three.

Jiang Yang took care of her, Lu Qiang loved her, and Lu Feng protected her. Yet, after all these years, things had changed for her, too.

Soon, it was time for everyone to head home. Dinner was complete, and conversations had died down, there was nothing left to do than go back to their respective homes.
