Jiang Yuyan and Lu Lian went upstairs, where they went to Lu Lian's room.

Jiang Yuyan asked Lu Lian to get into the bed as she looked so tired, and her body was burning with a fever when Jiang Yuyan checked her temperature.

Lu Lian listened to Jiang Yuyan and got onto the bed.

"Yuyan, your hand is not fine. I'll manage," Lu Lian said, looking at Jiang Yuyan's wrapped hand.

"It's fine now." Saying, Jiang Yuyan looked at her carefully. Not just Lu Lian's voice was weak, and she looked tired and pale, but her eyes had hidden sadness in them.

Lu Lian closed her eyes as they seemed heavy to even keep them open for a single moment. The temperature gave her a headache that seems unbearable at the moment as the effect of the medicines she took in the office started to fade away.

Jiang Yuyan went to the table in the room and brought a glass of water for Lu Lian, and she accepted it.

"Doctor will be here soon," Jiang Yuyan informed her, and Lu Lian lay in the bed after having water.

Covering Lu Lian with a quilt, Jiang Yuyan sat at the edge of the bed beside Lu Lian.

Lu Lian didn't expect it as Jiang Yuyan hardly went to others whenever she was at home, except for going to the elders' room. Also, Lu Lian knew Jiang Yuyan cared for her, but she knew she too was back from work and must be tired.

"I'm fine, Yuyan. You must be tired too. You…."

"Is there too much work and stress?" Jiang Yuyan asked calmly, interrupting Lu Lian.

Lu Lian shook her head, "It's what I like to do, so I'm enjoying what I'm doing."

"Hmm," Jiang Yuyan stared at Lu Lian for a moment and asked, "Anything else other than work that's troubling you?"

Lu Lian stared back at Jiang Yuyan and felt like Jiang Yuyan could see through her. Jiang Yuyan's calm eyes, which looked devoid of any emotions, sometimes seemed scary as if they would scan through the person's brain.

Lu Lian averted her sight and wanted to deny it, but Jiang Yuyan spoke again, "Did everything went well with Mr. Wong when you went there?"

Lu Lian felt relieved as Jiang Yuyan asked something that she could answer, "He helped me a lot."

"I see," said Jiang Yuyan and held Lu Lian's hand with her one hand, "You can always come to me if you want to say something."

Lu Lian felt surprised by the sudden change in Jiang Yuyan. All these years, Jiang Yuyan never asked or talked like this with Lu Lian, but this was totally unexpected.

"Yuyan?" Lu Lian called.

"Hmm?"

"Do you think my life is going the wrong way?" Lu Lian asked.

"Do you think that it's going the wrong way?" Jiang Yuyan countered.

"For the first time in all these years, you are talking to me like this; that means I'm doing something to make you worry about me?" Lu Lian asked.

If Jiang Yuyan never talked like this before, that meant Lu Lian was doing fine, and Jiang Yuyan never had to worry about her. Jiang Yuyan always showed her concern about someone when there was something to worry about.

"Sometimes we face troubles even on the right way of life," Jiang Yuyan commented.

"So I'm not doing anything to worry you," Lu Lian concluded.

"You have always been so good. I'm sure your elder brother must be feeling proud about you, seeing from up there," said Jiang Yuyan.

Lu Lian's eyes turned moist. Why? she didn't know but mentioning her elder brother, and because she was sick, it made her emotional.

"Do you think so, Yuyan? would he be happy?" Lu Lian asked.

"Hmm," Jiang Yuyan nodded.

Before the two could talk further, Ning Jiahui entered the room with the servant carrying a cold water pot.

Patting Lu Lian's hand, Jiang Yuyan stood up from the bed to make space for Ning Jiahui.

Ning Jiahui checked Lu Lian's temperature by using a thermometer as she touched her forehead.

"How can you be so irresponsible not to know you are sick," Ning Jiahui scolded while looking at the higher temperature noted in the thermometer.

Lu Lian didn't react as if she didn't hear her mother and looked at Jiang Yuyan, who stood calmly.

'Does Yuyan know about everything when I was in Mr. Wong's home? Does she know about him and me?'

As she thought about it, Jiang Yuyan looked at Lu Lian. Lu Lian averted her sight when Jiang Yuyan's looked at her too.

'What's there to know about? It's not like I'm interested in him and dating him,' Lu Lian frowned as her mother kept the cold water-dipped cloth fold on her forehead.

Soon the doctor arrived and checked Lu Lian.

"There's nothing serious. It's just a viral infection, and she would get better in a week. Till then, she had to rest," the doctor informed Ning Jiahui, and she felt relieved.

"A week?" Lu Lian exclaimed, "I can't rest for a week. I have work to do."

"No work for you," Ning Jiahui warned.

"M-mother, but….."

"You should rest and enjoy being home, Lu Lian," Lu Feng entered the room along with Lu Lijun.

"Brother Feng, when did you come?" Lu Lian asked.

"Just now and got to know the princess of this mansion is sick," Lu Feng replied.

Lu Lijun stepped forward and touched Lu Lian's forehead, "If elder sister doesn't listen, I'll make sure you rest for two weeks instead of one."

Lu Lian's eyes were left wide open, "You guys worry for nothing," she looked upset.

"Make it three weeks then," Lu Feng added, and Lu Lijun nodded.

"What?" Lu Lian exclaimed and held her head, which hurt more when she exclaimed, "Ahh, my head."

"We have stubborn young women in our home who won't listen," Ning Jiahui commented as she looked at both Lu Lian and Jiang Yuyan, and both kept quiet.

"Don't know what I should do with you two," Ning Jiahui mumbled and stood up, "Lijun, make sure your sister listens to you at least," and left with the doctor.

When Ning Jiahui left, Lu Lian looked at her two brothers, "You guys stop being bullies."

Just then, someone entered the room who heard the conversation.

"We should make it a month break for our dear sister."

Lu Lian looked at the source of the voice, "Not you too, elder brother Han."

"I'm with our brothers too," Lu Bao spoke, who tagged along with Lu Han.

Lu Lian felt angry and sighed as she couldn't do anything because of the weakness she felt.

"Look at her red face," Lu Bao commented, "I hope it's not because you will miss your handsome boss, Mr. Ming Rusheng."

It angered Lu Lian even more, "Lu Bao, let me get better and see...."

"Ming Rusheng? Is he troubling you?" Lu Lijun aksed, looking all serious while Lu Feng and Lu Han stayed silent.

"What troubling? Lu Lijun, your elder sister, is no saint. She can deal with any man," Lu Bao chuckled to get the glare from Lu Lian.

Lu Lijun ignored what Lu Bao said and kept looking at his elder sister, "Stay away from him," Lu Lijun warned.

"Lijun, why are you hostile towards him? You don't even know him," Lu Bao asked.

"He is not good for elder sister," Lu Lijun countered.

Lu Feng and Lu Han looked at each other as if they had something in mind but preferred to be quiet as Jiang Yuyan was there too.

Jiang Yuyan excused herself and left the room. Lu Lijun too left after her, and Lu Feng signaled Lu Han to go out too.

Just as everyone left, Lu Lian glared at Lu Bao, "I told you not to mention him in front of our brothers and especially Lijun."

"Let him get used to it, or he will get the sudden shock to see Mr. Ming as his brother-in-law."

"Bullshit," Lu Lian exclaimed, "Anyone but that jerk."

Lu Bao smiled, "More you curse, more you fall for the person."

"My ass," Lu Lian frowned.

"I know it's round and sexy to make him drool over it," Lu Bao laughed and asked, "So tell me what happened at Mr. Wong's home. I'm sure something steamy....."

"Lu Bao, I don't want you to catch the infection in such condition," Lu Lian looked at Lu Bao's round belly, "Go to your room," Lu Lian ordered and closed her eyes, not willing to remember the time in Mr. Wong's home.

Lu Bao sighed, "Okay, take rest," and left the room.

Lu Lian opened her eyes, "That jerk, I hate him."
