Deep within a forest surrounded by thick patches of trees. The waxing moon that grew slender each day glances upon a small palace that stood firm next to a small spring.

Its white walls formed a curve structure that reminds one of a lady’s tenderness.

It is no surprise that the only ones to live in such a place are ladies known as maidens of light. The only place within to allow the entry of men was a half-spheric building accessible from the main shrine through a cloister.

Lady’s garden—or so this place was appropriately called, but was also frequently visited by men. The reason for this is that these maidens of light has the ability see the future.

Nevertheless, such abilities were also unstable, and the divinations they see are often so vague that it takes an intricate deciphering to know their meaning.

These men—the cardinals of the church, gathered in the half-spheric buildings conference hall with such complicated expression in their faces.

‘We cannot really tell anything from that, Aunt.’

One of the cardinals with a magnificent lush of white beard said, to which an old woman that sat at the chief seat of the refectory table laughed.

‘Such are the divinations. Divinations and precognitions are two different things. It depends on the actions of those who deciphered them whether they shall come true or not. As they say in the east, “true or not, the divination is right.”‘

‘You’re talking about fortune-telling!’

The cardinals, perplexed by the words of the old lady previously called as aunt, could only massage their temples.

It is true that the divination of these maidens of light are similar in nature to fortune-tellings. After all, they are as vague as the latter. Still, their divination came true during the last saintess selection. That was how they were able to wring out the candidates and determine Aileen to be the next saintess, which came true. They were able to break her engagement with the prince as planned, but their next scheme did not work out well, making the pope mad. They cannot afford to choose their methods anymore. Aileen must be won over by the church, come what may.

‘So what kind of man shall appear to the saintess’ side next?’

The cardinals were desperate.

They need to find a way to pull the saintess to their side before she reconciles with the prince.

The old lady just sighed in resignation.

‘Like I said, he should be ‘white’ and ‘fluffy’. Fluffy and white shall make the saintess’ future bright. That’s the divination.’

or so the old lady asserted as she swung her cane around.

The cardinals could shrieked one after another in response.

‘Like I said,’

‘What in heavens name, do you mean,’

”’By white and fluffy!!!”’

The united yells of the cardinals sent the night owls within the depths of the forest hooting in fright.
