Apparently, Maynard galloped to the the manor by horse.

Well, our coach did travel at leisurely pace so it does makes sense for him to arrive first.

That does not matter. The issue at hand is his business in arriving here.

‘What became of Lina, sir.’

When I gave him the scornful glare, Maynard awkwardly averted his face.

It’s not a pressing issue, but I would like you to stop acting like you own the place and conduct your tea times here, sir. We may be former fiancée, Maynard, but with our engagement broken, we are no longer of any relations to one another. The prize to pay for the sin of hurting my heart is heavy. Please make yourself scarce at once.

However, the prince does not seem to care enough to notice the ensuing blizzard in my chest.

‘Aileen, I have something to discuss.’

I have none on my end, sir.

I sent a gaze towards Firman asking for assistance, but he is just a knight against a prince. He, along with all the other knights firmly bowed and left the manor’s parlor. Selma gave Maynard a fleeting scornful glance, but even she had no choice but to leave.

With the two of us left alone, I had no other choice but to sit on the sofa and entertain his company.

‘And what would that be, sir?’

Maynard looks a little bit surprised by my cold demeanor. Well, he would be. I have always been all-smiles next to him as his fiancée before. But I’m not as saintly as to still shower my love towards the man who abandoned me, although, I am a Saintess.

But apparently, this prince with slightly loose screws in his head seemed to have misunderstood my cold mien.

‘Aileen, are you still surly that I chose Lina?’

Not at all~! Far from surly, I only resent you for abandoning me, sir. I’m not at all sulky about it; most definitely not!

Maynard stood on his feet, came my way, and held my hands tight.

‘I’m sorry, love. It seems that I have forgotten what is most important.’

‘Most important, you say, sir?’

As I gave him the look of suspicion, Maynard nodded with a full smile on his face.

‘That’s right. It seemed I have overlooked them in my fixation on saintesses; these feelings of mine.’

I wonder just what is he talking about?

The suspicion in my eyes further intensified.

Feelings that he overlooked in his fixation on saintesses, he says? Very puzzling, indeed.

Maynard arbitrarily placed his lips at the back of my hand and spoke.

‘Yes, these feelings of love for you.’

Now, he’s done it. As the tiny, tiny remaining fragments of goodwill towards him within my heart crumbled, my lips ran itself off.

‘Your highness—Are you a fool, by any chance?’
