Helian Chacha and Xiaohuozi ran back as fast as they could, yet only to find Wang Jinghu lying there without breathing in his room.

She didn’t make it to meet him for the last time.

“Brother Wang!” She went up to grab the shoulders of Wang Jinghu and cried out, “Brother Wang, what has happened to you? Wake up! Brother Wang!”

The little eunuch standing next to her couldn’t just stay there and watch, so he went to stop her and sobbed, “Eunuch Lin, please let him rest in peace. He’s gone!”

Of course, she knew that he had already gone, but she just couldn’t believe that he would end up like this just a few days after the torturing.

She touched the face of Wang Jinghu with her trembling hands, only to find that his face was full of bruises, either beaten black or broken by some kind of blunt objects or torturing tools with barbs.

“Who did this?” She clenched her fists and looked at people around her. Seeing that all of them were avoiding eye contact with her, she felt so bad and looked back at Xiaohuozi, “Xiaohuozi, tell me who did this!”

Xiaohuozi looked at Wang Jinghu who was no longer breathing and cried with his teeth clenched, “It was Eunuch Fu! Since the last time he bullied Brother Wang, he has been bullying him every now and then!”

“Then why didn’t you tell me about it?!” She didn’t know anything about it even though things had been going around for a long while.

Xiaohuozi sobbed again, “Brother Wang didn’t want you to provoke Eunuch Fu on impulse, as it would trigger bigger problems. He thought Eunuch Fu would let him go after a while but he never expected that Eunuch Fu could become even more brutal after he got favored by the Empress Dowager. This time he killed Brother Wang directly!”

The more Helian Chacha listened, the more furious she became. She could take it no more so she turned around and strode away in the end.

“Lin Dagou! Where are you going?” Xiaohuozi yelled at her from behind.

“I’ll find that eunuch! I’m gonna take the revenge for Brother Wang!”

Xiaohuozi intended to stop her, but when he saw Wang Jinghu’s body lying on the bed, he decided to stay.

Looking at the fading figure of Helian Chacha, Xiaohuozi thought in his heart, “Just go avenge Brother Wang. If you fail too, I will follow you and meet Brother Wang in the other world.”

However, Helian Chacha slowed down her steps when she just got to the gate as she started to recall what Xiaohuozi had just told her.

If she remembered it correctly, Xiaohuozi had just told her that Eunuch Fu was now quite favored by the Empress Dowager, which meant that although she got the emperor on her back, Eunuch Fu was supported by the Empress Dowager.

She couldn’t predict the winner when the competition was between the emperor and the Empress Dowager. And if she just went to provoke Eunuch Fu blindly like this, probably she would fell into his trap, not to say teach him a lesson.

It seemed that she needed to make a plan for the revenge.

As she was thinking, she felt like bumping into a muscular body and was about to fall down, yet she was held by a strong hand instead.

Looking up, she found a man in a white robe with a white hairband on his forehead was looking down at her.

Helian Chacha couldn’t help exclaiming in mind. How come all the men in ancient times looked so handsome? He could be at least a star in the modern world.

As she was in a trance, there came a cold voice from above, “Lin Dagou, do you want me to hold you like this forever?”

She suddenly woke up from her fantasy and stood up. Now she realized that the one who had been holding her was not the handsome guy, but the emperor who had secretly showed up behind her already.

“Good day, Your Majesty!” She kneeled down immediately.

Seeing that she kneeled down, the handsome guy lowered down his body as well and observed her for a long while, with his fan against his chin before getting up.

“So, this is your new lover?” He started to mock Ye Shengxuan, “Good looking, but a bit clumsy.”

How dare he talk to Ye Shengxuan like this? Was he courting death or what!

As she was expecting that Ye Shengxuan would go mad, Ye Shengxuan said suddenly, “Get up now and go to the Cining Palace with me.”

“?” Helian Chacha stood up in confusion and cleaned the dirt on her knees. She followed them absentmindedly while the handsome guy was mocking Ye Shengxuan on the way.

Since when did this stone-hearted man become so kind?

Wait…did he just say going to the Cining Palace? Helian Chacha was inspired all of a sudden and a smile crept up on her face. Good, she could go there and check it out first as she had been wondering how Eunuch Fu was doing now after he had won the support of the Empress Dowager.

After a short while, the three of them arrived at Cining Palace. The Empress Dowager was now feeding her fish inside the little pavilion above the pond. She didn’t get up when she saw Ye Shengxuan coming, but kept playing with the fish in the pond instead.

Ye Shengxuan wasn’t surprised either, and he just went forward to bow to her, “Good day, Empress Mother.”

The Empress Dowager didn’t even look back but just kept on feeding her fish, “So now you have the time to visit me here, Your Majesty?”

Hearing that weird tone, Helian Chacha finally knew whom did Ye Shengxuan inherit his peculiar personality from.

Ye Shengxuan frowned as he heard what the Empress Dowager had just said to him. Seeing that, the handsome guy tried to ease the situation immediately, “It was not His Majesty but me who insists to visit you, auntie.”

Auntie? So this dude was the cousin of Ye Shengxuan. No wonder he was so reckless. He was a relative of the imperial family!

Hearing that, the Empress Dowager finally started to act differently. She looked back and her eyes were brightened up when she saw that handsome guy as she stood up to walk to them, “Oh, Yunuan? Finally, you come back to us!”

“Good day, Your Highness.”

Jiang Yunuan was about to bow but got held up by the Empress Dowager. She led him to the seat and started to chat with him, “You naughty boy! It’s alright that you want to travel around the world, and I’m not blaming you for that. But you didn’t even go back and visit me! Three years was not a short period of time. Don’t you ever miss your parents or me, your auntie?”

“Auntie, so here I am, back to see you.” Jiang Yunuan patted the back of the Empress Dowager to comfort her and said, “Alright, don’t be mad at me. If you’re sick because of me, I’ll never come back again.”

“Naughty boy! Now you care about your auntie.”

As the two of them were chatting a lot, Ye Shengxuan was left aside. It seemed that he had already got used to this kind of communication, so he just sat there alone and enjoyed his tea, looking quite at ease.

After about an hour of chatting with Jiang Yunuan, the Empress Dowager finally felt a bit tired. So she let them leave.

Helian Chacha didn’t see Eunuch Fu the entire time so she started to doubt if Eunuch Fu was actually favored by the Empress Dowager. Maybe it was not like what Xiaohuozi had told her.

As she was thinking, she noticed a familiar person there, so she stopped and looked around to check it out.

She found a tall figure walking rapidly to the direction of the garden from the side gate.

It was Eunuch Fu!

“Hey, what are you looking at?”

Helian Chacha was surprised and looked back. It was Jiang Yunuan who had come to her secretly. So she looked down and replied, “Nothing.”

Then she stepped up to catch up with Ye Shengxuan.

However, what she didn’t realize was that Jiang Yunuan was also focusing on the fading shadow of Eunuch Fu.

After they had left Cining Palace, Jiang Yunuan parted from Ye Shengxuan and went out of the palace alone. Helian Chacha thought she could have a rest after going back to Yangxin Hall, but Ye Shengxuan started to call her after just about 10 minutes.

“Lin Dagou!”

She combed her hair impatiently and walked to the inner hall, “What can I do for you, Your Majesty?”

Ye Shengxuan took a small case from his desk and handed it to her, “Take this to Cining Palace.”
