Chapter 21 - I Can Kill Anyone Except YueJian ChunHe

Ji Xiaoli had completely abandoned the idea of helping his disciple on his immoral pursuit of trying to attract the fancy of someone who already had a romantic attachment.

At the time, The two men were going about their daily tasks. After getting acquainted with Ji Xiaoli, Braised Pigeon would often enthusiastically bring Ji Xiaoli and his disciple, Milk Tea Small Crisp, with her on quests.

Although Braised Pigeon was on the team, Milk Tea Small Crisp has yet to utter a single word to her . Even when Braised Pigeon made small talk, he’d occasionally deliver an inexplicable one-liner or two. For example…

【Braised Pigeon: Fuck, ChunHe that bastard got another shard of the Millenium Dark Steel. Yesterday, he beat me to a pulp in the arena. He didn’t even show me a shred of mercy! Shame on him!】

【Milk Tea Small Crisp: En.】

【Braised Pigeon: …..】

Boss Pigeon PMed Ji Xiaoli: 【Does your disciple have a problem with me?】

Ji Xiaoli:【…..】

He does have a problem with you, a particularly well-meaning problem with you!

""

With my disciple’s intelligence, forget about him being a homewrecker, he wouldn’t even be able to pursue girls in this lifetime!

Ji Xiaoli had thrown in the towel. He had no intention of ever helping his foolish disciple again.

Ji Xiaoli was a responsible shifu. When he found his disciple:【Disciple, it’s never good to be a homewrecker. This teacher won’t be helping you anymore.】

Milk Tea Small Crisp:【…】

【I’ve been meaning to ask you this for a while now. What on earth are you trying to do?】

Ji Xiaoli froze:【Ah?】

【When did I become a homewrecker?】

Ji Xiaoli was confused:【Don’t you like Braised Pigeon?】

The two were chatting in private when Braised Pigeon happened to send a BOSS flying over their heads with a single slash. The heroine in red stomped on the BOSS’ head in a domineering manner:【Hahahaha even when I let you cut me up, you still died by this laoniang’s blade, you son of a bitch!】

Ji Xiaoli: “…”

Milk Tea Small Crisp: “…”

【Milk Tea Small Crisp: What makes you think I like her?】

【Teacher Orders a Salute: If you didn’t like her, why would you buy this Emei nanny account to give her milk?】

【…I’m giving her milk?】

【If it’s not her, who else could it be?】

Ji Xiaoli couldn’t make heads or tails of it and was at a loss.

Whoever his disciple intended to heal, they must have such an extremely high health pool that even Emei da shijie Bei Yuan could not keep up with; if it isn’t Braised Pigeon, could it be YueJian ChunHe or Pin Seng Fa Hao Jie Se? A bald monk in a kasaya armed with a nine-ring oblate scepter came to mind. The conjured imagery elicited a shudder from Ji Xiaoli:【Disciple, your taste is too extreme!】

【Milk Tea Small Crisp: …..】

Just what the hell do you keep stored in your brain?!

In the end, Milk Tea Small Crisp did not disclose the name of the person he had wanted to heal. Ji Xiaoli was nonplussed but the feeling in his heart was marginally more relieved.

“So, he doesn’t like Braised Pigeon,” he exhaled with a shuddering breath, relieved. There had been a peculiar unease in his heart when he believed his disciple had wanted to be a filthy homewrecker. He certainly felt more reassured.

Emperor Pavilion is a good guild with high leveled players, immense strength, and vast resources.

Within a week or two, Ji Xiaoli and Milk Tea Small Crisp’s levels had finally caught up with the majority of the main forces.

Ji Xiaoli, Level 155, cultivation 1.71W.

""

Milk Tea Small Crisp, Level 155, cultivation 1.82W.

The current powerhouse of the region is YueJian ChunHe, Level 155, cultivation 2W2.

It’s worth mentioning that Milk Tea Small Crisp has replaced Protect Our Meat Bun and is now ranked third on the Emei leaderboard. In other words, she was now “Knight Errant Road”’s first region’s Emei san shijie. She was only 800 cultivation points behind Bei Yuan, and with the golden skill “Hands of Rejuvenation”, her prowess was not considered to be inferior to Bei Yuan. However, Milk Tea Small Crisp had never once participated in the battles in the arena.

Ji Xiaoli was chatting in the Guild channel when he noticed two junior Emei’s were discussing about his disciple.

【Little Mermaid: The sect channel was talking about our Boss Milk Tea just now. I saw for myself that they were all from Smiling Sword.】

【Call Me Kyukyu: I also saw those trash Emei. They were obviously from Smiling Sword pretending to be some passerby, saying that Boss Milk Tea doesn’t PK because of poor mechanical skills and for fear of embarrassment.】

【Little Mermaid: I’ve done my daily tasks with Boss Milk Tea before. Her mechanical skills are really something!】

Shortly after, “I am Meat Bun” also appeared.

【I am Meat Bun: Who said Milk Tea’s mechanical skills were bad?】

The two female Emei hurried to pour their grievances to the guild master’s wife.

【The Emeis from Smiling Sword. They were trash-talking Boss Milk Tea in the sect channel, they were saying that the reason she doesn’t PK was because her mechanical skills are especially atrocious.】

【I am Meat Bun: What the hell? Milk Tea’s mechanical skills should not be too bad. I’ve heard from Pigeon when she brought a bunch of newbies to Baituo Mountain Village’s dungeon, only Milk Tea survived to the very end and she was even helping with the heals. If I recall correctly, Milk Tea’s cultivation then was only 1W5.】

Ji Xiaoli could no longer stand by either:【My disciple is proficient! She’s far more skilled than me!】

【Call Me Kyukyu: Yeah. But it’s so strange. Why doesn’t Milk Tea ever PK? Her mechanical skills are good. What a waste.】

This question was raised towards all that were present.

【Little Mermaid: Bro Salute, why don’t you go ask Milk Tea? 】

When his disciple finally came online as night fell, Ji Xiaoli quickly dropped him a PM.

【Teacher Orders a Salute: Disciple, why do you never do battle in the arena?】

Milk Tea Small Crisp sent him a question mark, followed by his query:【What did you ask that for?】

Ji Xiaoli is filled with righteous indignation:【The players from Smiling Sword are engaging in a smear campaign against you. They’re accusing you of having poor mechanical skills, saying that’s why you never go to the arena!】

【……】

Emperor Pavilion and Smiling Sword are rival guilds. The two guilds often clashed over pulling* BOSSes; conflicts arose time and time again on the leaderboards. Neither party could see eye-to-eye. However, because of the presence of several big names like YueJian ChunHe, Jie Se, and Braised Pigeon in Emperor Pavilion, they continuously suppressed the Smiling Sword guild, always knocking them down a peg.

*Pulling is a term used to describe gaining the aggro of the enemy.

Ji Xiaoli and Milk Tea Small Crisp have never personally clashed against the players of Smiling Sword. But they were from Emperor Pavilion which was more than enough reason for the players from Smiling Sword to harbor resentment toward them.

【Milk Tea Small Crisp: In the arena at present, if you focus solely on equipment and not on mechanical skill, I can beat all of them apart from YueJian ChunHe, Jade Starship, Borrowing Heaven’s Sword, Pin Seng Fa Hao Jie Se, and Braised Pigeon.】

Ji Xiaoli:【If we look at mechanical skills?】

Milk Tea Small Crisp:【With the exception of YueJian ChunHe, I can defeat all of them.】

Ji Xiaoli:【!!!】

【Disciple, I thought I was an expert at bragging, but I didn’t expect you to be even better than me at tooting your own horn!】

【I have the Hands of Rejuvenation.】

【?】

【I can defeat them, but there’s no need for me to do that.】

Before Ji Xiaoli could reply, Milk Tea Small Crisp continued:【Do you wish for me to fight in the arena?】

Ji Xiaoli:【Obviously. Then, you can see for yourself about the things behind your back. My disciple is so skilled that even one of you is enough to go against 10 of them. You must prove it to them.】

【There’s no need to fight in the arena then.】

【?】

【There’s a guild war tonight. Let’s go. We’ll join the guild war.】

Ji Xiaoli was so shell-shocked by the declaration that he nearly knelt down.

The game “Knight Errant Road” has guild wars that take place every night where the system randomly assigns an opponent to each guild. The opponent must be a guild on the same level. The two guilds will each occupy a watchtower and whichever guild that successfully lays siege on the other’s watchtower within 15 minutes wins. If neither party managed to besiege the watchtowers, whichever guild with the higher kill count wins.

The winning guild would be rewarded with a fixed amount of resources, but the rewards weren’t substantial. And for a large guild like the Emperor Pavilion, the bosses would not even give the winnings a glance.

Guild wars are about reputation and prestige.

The first region in “Knight Errant Road” has five Level 7 guilds including Emperor Pavilion and Smiling Sword.

It wasn’t so bad if Emperor Pavilion were randomly matched with one of the other three guilds. However, whenever they were pitted against Smiling Sword, both guilds would get extremely fired up, hungry for blood. Fights to the death were inevitable. There were times when they did not even bother to lay siege on the watchtower. Players were slain left, right, and center in a great massacre; with blood flowing so profusely that even pestles could float in it.

But tonight Emperor Pavilion was matched up with the guild ranked third: Jiangshan Ruhua*.

*江山如画 Jiangshan Ruhua means rivers and mountains like picturesque paintings.

Jiangshan Ruhua is a casual guild with many girls. It is a beloved retirement home for some big names, including Wudang da shixiong Jade Starship.

It was Ji Xiaoli’s first time joining a guild war.

If the arena is a 1v1 battle, the guild war would devolve into a frenzied free-for-all. When Ji Xiaoli saw the crowd of people, he immediately wimped out and was tempted to make a break for it. But, Milk Tea Small Crisp reassured him:【Relax. We’ll win.】

Within the next second, the guild master, Protect Our Meat Bun declared in the guild.

【Guild】Protect Our Meat Bun: This battle will be a tough one to win. Although Jiangshan Ruhua’s average cultivation is lower than ours by a wide margin and is also lower than Smiling Sword’s, they are much harder to fight than Smiling Sword. Their guild has too many great Wudang.

Ji Xiaoli: “…”

Heard that, disciple? And you said you could win!!!

Wudang is an AoE* based sect. With one skill, they can sweep across a large area.

*Area of effect (or AoE) is a term used in many games to describe attacks or spells that can affect multiple targets within a specified area.

If the battle was fought one-on-one, a Huashan can very well destroy a Wudang. But when it comes to this sort of chaotic battlefield, Wudangs become reapers out to harvest heads. If you can safeguard a Wudang, you would be able to dish out untold amounts of damage.

【Guild】Protect Our Meat Bun: ChunHe won’t be joining us for tonight’s guild war. Our greatest mission tonight is… to take down Jade Starship first.

The guild members concurred.

【Yes! We can lose the guild war but Jade Starship needs to die!】

【He must die!】

【Kill Jade Starship that dog!!!】

Ji Xiaoli and Milk Tea Small Crisp were assigned to Braised Pigeon’s team.

The Tianshan da shijie rubbed her fist. She was aware that Ji Xiaoli’s mechanical skills were not the best and said:【Salute, you are to output damage on the fringe of the battlefield. Milk Tea, you’ll follow and heal me. You are our guild’s best healer. That bastard, ChunHe won’t join the guild war tonight to pick up girls. Yang Xiu is studying late. So, I’m the only one who can slice up Jade Starship. You give me heals and we’ll cut him up together.】

Ji Xiaoli was curious:【Did Boss Yue really went to pick up girls?】

Braised Pigeon was full of crap as she went off:【Well, what else could you be doing in the middle of the night if you’re not joining a guild war? He must be picking up girls! 】

Ji Xiaoli nodded. A well-founded justification; no problem!

【Milk Tea Small Crisp: Hehe.】

Once they were on the battlefield, Ji Xiaoli and Milk Tea Small Crisp went their separate ways.

Ji Xiaoli did not have good mechanical skills thus had no chances of penetrating the enemy lines, which was why he could only kill low leveled players at the edge of the battlefield. As soon as Braised Pigeon entered the battlefield, she had her eye on Jade Starship.

Braised Pigeon:【Cut the dog surnamed Jade to pieces!】

Emperor Pavilion guild members:【Yeah!】

However, Jade Starship was surrounded by Jiangshan Ruhua’s nannies.

A team can have up to ten players. Jade Starship was simply deranged. He relied on the fact that there were a lot of female players in Jiangshan Ruhua, hence the abundance of wet nurses. He lorded over the nine healers by himself, all of which gave him a continuous stream of heals. When Braised Pigeon’s blade homed in on him, he had already been healed up before there was even a chance for his health to drop.

Braised Pigeon turned on the team voice chat and continuously issued commands.

“Salute, you stall to keep the others away.”

“Lao Wan, hurry up and get rid of those nine nannies. Fuck, they’re annoying!”

“Milk Tea, hurry and heal me. Pay attention to my health.”

Braised Pigeon and Lao Wan, the two high-output DPS launched an attack and finally managed to kill Jade Starship once. Who could’ve anticipated that before the sage-like Wudang had even laid crumpled on the ground for a second, he would be revived on the spot by an Emei nanny?

There was a moment of silence on the team channel.

Braised Pigeon and Lao Wan: “Fuck!”

On the computer screens of the masses, Jade Starship’s kill streak continued to stack up. It would take a lot of effort for Braised Pigeon and Lao Wan to cut him down, while he could just kill a bunch of Emperor Pavilion players with just a random skill on a whim.

With each passing second, Jiangshan Ruhua continuously racked up their kill count, far surpassing Emperor Pavilion’s numbers. Emperor Pavilion players are unable to capture the watchtower as long as Jade Starship was there. Braised Pigeon was in a state of turmoil, hell-bent on glaring at Jade Starship and vowing to kill him.

In the final three minutes, a clear and pleasant male voice suddenly resounded over the team channel.

“Pigeon, Lao Wan, you kill the nine healers. Don’t allow them to revive anyone. I’ll take care of Jade Starship.”

Ji Xiaoli instantly straightened his back and stretched his ears to listen to the sound coming from the speakers.

Disciple!

Braised Pigeon was busy taking down an opponent when she heard the voice. She hadn’t had the slightest clue to who was speaking. However, time and tide wait for no man. The man continued: “Pigeon, Lao Wan, kill.”

It was a distinctively elegant voice, but carrying a hint of resolve and assertion. Somehow, Braised Pigeon subconsciously obeyed his commands, raising her broadsword to slash away at the nine nannies that crowded around Jade Starship, as if she had been directed by the voice countless times before.

Milk Tea Small Crisp: “Focus on killing Lingering Fragrance.”

She is the Emei er shijie, Jiangshan Ruhua’s guild master.

Milk Tea Small Crisp continued: “Lao Wan, pressure them.”

“Understood!”

At the behest of Milk Tea Small Crisp, Braised Pigeon and Lao Wan cluelessly carried out the orders issued. When the group of nannies had only a sliver of health left, the white-clothed Emei suddenly stormed up. With a wave of her train of white silk, nine people were done in like a gourd on a string. Before Braised Pigeon could even cuss her out for kill-stealing, the diminutive and slender female Emei rushed toward Jade Starship without hesitation.

Braised Pigeon panicked in the team voice chat: “Holy fuck, you can’t beat him, Milk Tea!”

Jade Starship, Level 155, Wudang da shixiong, cultivation 1.94W.

A thousand cultivation points higher than Milk Tea Small Crisp!

Jade Starship also did not take this female Emei seriously.

With a swish of his horsetail whisk, a Bagua diagram appeared, intending to trap Milk Tea Small Crisp. No one expected Milk Tea Small Crisp to be quite so agile as to duck out of the way. Jade Starship cursed inwardly, but Milk Tea Small Crisp was already closing in on him.

Wudang is a long-range DPS sect and is the least adept at close-quarters combat. Emei are the same. The difference comes down to how Emei is not a DPS-based sect. They are all wet nurses.

Yet, it was this wet nurse, who was only supposed to heal, leaping up. Her long train of snow-white satin danced in the air. The Hands of Rejuvenation added to the bonus crit damage. Jade Starship collapsed to the ground with a miserable scream.

Two minutes remaining.

Milk Tea Small Crisp landed steadily on the ground, his voice calm: “Siege the tower.”

It was only then that Braised Pigeon and others reacted.

【Guild】Braised Pigeon: Siege the tower!!!

Emperor Pavilion players stormed up in a ravenous mass and swiftly conquered the watchtower.

【System】Dare to ask who the heroes are. Level 7 Guild “Emperor Pavilion” successfully conquered Level 7 Guild “Jiangshan Ruhua”’s watchtower and will receive a reward of 10000000 copper coins.

The blue-clothed swordsman stood dazedly at the edge of the battlefield, gazing at the white-clad Emei who was in the very center of the battlefield from afar.

Amidst a sea of corpses and blood, a beautiful and captivating Emei in snow white stood at the very heart of the chaos, her silken ribbons danced serenely. She was vastly out of place in the hellish carnage around her with a slight knit between her brows, seeming piteous to those who laid their sights on her. All of a sudden, she turned around and locked eyes with Ji Xiaoli. She then trampled on Jade Starship’s corpse and approached the blue-clad swordsman step by step.

Milk Tea Small Crisp directly spoke in the team voice chat, not bothering to type his words. The cadence of his voice was still euphonious.

“I told you, I can kill anyone except YueJian ChunHe.”

Ji Xiaoli’s eyes widened, and within the next second, he went offline and shut off his device.

…Disciple, that was so cool!!!
