Zerg Writer

Chapter 1

CHAPTER 1: LITTLE PITIFUL STAR

In the middle of the night, in a narrow house in a tall building in the city:

A young man in his early twenties was wearing a tank top and shorts, with a cigarette in his mouth.  His eyes were fixed on the computer screen as his fingers flew across his keyboard.

A white porcelain cup next to the computer was half filled with coffee, steaming slightly. There were leftovers of cold rice piled up in a take-out box, and it had begun to attract flies.

This was the typical image of a recluse.

As he typed on the black mechanical keyboard, lines of text quickly displayed on the document:

[She stared at the haggard looking tall man in front of her, her pale lips curling up with a sneer, and said, “Shen Hao stop being so cruel! Was it not enough to dig my kidneys and cut out my uterus? What else do you want from me?”  The man knelt down in front of her, his  eyes full of regret and said, “Mingshuang , I know it’s too late to change anything, but I still have to tell you that the woman I love the most is you.” ]

Just these few lines of words were enough to make people imagine a few dog-blood dramas.

That’s right, this recluse named Fang Qingci was an online writer who specialized in romantic novels about drama. His comment section was lively, often filled with both cursing and praise.

In fact, when he first started, he was targeting a male audience, writing typical male stories about bravery, justice and chivalry. However, not even one of his books became popular. In a fit of anger, he wrote a romance novel and uploaded it to a female oriented website to vent. Unexpectedly, he went viral and earned back a whole year of living expenses.

So, simply, he switched from male readers to female readers, and began to write even more angst filled novels. Finally, he got rid of his identity as an amateur writer and besides being able to support himself by writing, he also started to have savings.

Fang Qingci was quite satisfied with his current life. However, his life would have been even more fulfilling if he had a lover.

Oh well, there was nothing wrong with dreaming big.

He lit a cigarette again, and he continued to tap the keyboard.  If he worked harder, he could finish this chapter today.

At that moment, an earth-shaking thunder suddenly sounded outside. Then, the computer squeaked and the screen turned blue. Lightning flashed across the room, and the stunned Fang Qingci fell to the ground, losing consciousness.

All he saw was darkness, an endless darkness. He seemed to have come to the legendary black hole.

His body hurt so much. Every muscle and bone in his body seemed to be crushed, and the pain was unbearable.

The pain was so extreme that it almost made him crazy, but suddenly it all disappeared. He just felt that his whole body was refreshed and ecstatic, as if he was flying.

Falling down suddenly, he woke up and saw a dazzling white light.

He sat up in a daze, and the scene in front of him almost made him think that he was actually still dreaming.

The vast white desert seemed endless, and no plants could be seen. Above his head, there were three suns emitting a fiery light.

Huh, what just happened? Why did suddenly he come to an alien planet?

Yes, he was extremely sure that he was definitely not on earth now.

What had happened? Had he been kidnapped by aliens? However, there was not a single creature in sight except himself. Could it be that the aliens had kidnapped him just to throw him away in the desert?

No matter what, the first thing he had to do mow was to get out of the desert. Otherwise, there was no need to wait for aliens to kill him as he would already have died of thirst and starvation.

Standing up, he stepped forward. Although he didn’t know which direction to go, he couldn’t just sit and wait.

After walking a few steps, he found that the vest and shorts on his body had become very baggy and very large. It seemed that his body had shrunk suddenly.

Was this the side effect of transmigrating to an alien planet?

At that point in time however, he didn’t really care about what was wrong with his body as moving forward was the most important thing. He felt extreme thirst and hunger, and his whole body was weak. He had to find a water source while he still had some strength.

Walking forward step by step, his head was getting more and more groggy, and his body was trembling so pitifully.

Fang Qingci wanted to cry but no tears were coming. Why was he so unlucky? Damn aliens, of all the people in the world, why did he have to be the one who was kidnapped.  He took one step and then another. The cycle repeated till he felt he really couldn’t walk anymore.

His body was shaky, the white desert in front of him began to blur, and he was about to fall.

Was he going to die here today?

At this moment, a huge silver mechanical vehicle quietly appeared in his field of vision. It looked like armored vehicles he had seen on earth before, but this looked much more high-tech.

He only hesitated for two seconds, and then ran towards the armored car with all his strength, yelling “Help, help—”

It was too painful to die of thirst and he would rather die in the hands of aliens! Besides, they might not necessarily kill him, right?

The people in the armored car appeared to have heard his voice, turned a corner, and drove towards him.

He sighed with relief and put his tensed shoulders down. He could no longer hold on and he fell onto the desert sand.

He was like a fish on the shore, his mouth wide open as he gasped for breath. Everything before his eyes was blurred.

In a daze, he saw several tall figures getting down from the armored vehicle. After staring at him for a while, one of them bent down, picked him up very carefully and walked towards the armored vehicle.

The person holding him was very careful and gentle, as if he were holding a fragile glass doll. His heart calmed down as it looked like that these people had no malice towards him.

After they entered the armored car, he was gently placed on the seat. One of them took something which looked like a nutrient solution and brought it in front of him.

After saying a quick thank you, he took the small transparent bottle. He bit the top that was opened by the other party and sucked up the colorless liquid in one breath.

It didn’t really taste good but after a while, his thirst and hunger were completely satisfied. It was a good thing the  alien technology was high-end!

With his vision no longer blurry, he could see clearly his saviours. The four aliens who rescued him had appearances akin to humans and wore black uniforms similar to military uniforms. The tall and strong men had a valiant aura and looked like they had been to many battlefields. Each one appeared to be at least two meters tall.

However, why did they keep staring at each other in a daze?

Fang Qinci expressed his gratitude with a smile and said, “Thank you for saving me. I would have lost my life without your help.”

Seeing his smile, the four men gasped simultaneously with starstruck expressions on their faces. To them, his smile was like that of a peerless beauty, with the ability to kill instantly.

Seeing such expressions from the four tall men in front of him, Fang Qingci couldn’t help but feel a chill. “Are these people okay?” he wondered.

It took a while before one of them snapped out of it and spoke a few words to him. Fang Qinci was confused as he could not understand what was being said.

Their language sounded very weird, further convincing him that he was no longer on Earth. These men with distinct facial features, as if they were mixed races, were not people from Earth.

The speaker turned and left with the other three people continuing to look at him blankly without blinking. The love in their eyes had even reached the level of obsession.

Fang Qingci rubbed his arms and muttered in his heart, “What’s wrong with these alien friends?”

Fortunately, the man who had left soon  came back again, holding a small silver object like a button, and motioned him to put it on his ear.

Fang Qingci took the silver button and tentatively approached his earlobe. As soon as the button got close to his skin, like a magnet, it automatically got attached to his earlobe. It felt like there was nothing on his ears.

It was another high-tech alien device.

Seeing him put on the button, the man in front of him smiled and said: “You must be so smart to wear it without any help!”

Huh? He could understand them now? Could it be that the silver button on his ears was an automatic language translator?

After the man said these few words, the other three nodded fiercely, all looking at him with the attitude of a very proud mother.

Really? Which individual would find it difficult to do such a simple thing? Fang Qingci felt very speechless.

The man who seemed to be the leader of the small team, looked at him, and said: “Precious male zerg, how did you land on this barren planet? Seeing as you don’t understand our language, could you be a foreigner?”

Well, he understood the meaning of each word separately, but how could he not understand the meaning when put together? What zerg? He is obviously a living human!

Seeing his blank eyes, the leader swiped his wrist, and suddenly, in front of him, there was a screen floating in the air. The man stretched out his hand and clicked on the screen a few times, and some pictures, matched with the text, appeared before his eyes.

It looked like an educational video for children. It had bright colors, concise language and was very easy to understand.

It took him almost two hours to watch the video. After watching it, he was completely dumbfounded.

The four men in front of him, no, not men, should be called females, or they could be called military zergs. Their race is called the Zerg.

The Zerg was a very strange race. They had a very large proportion of females who were responsible for almost all social responsibilities, such as defending their home and the country, giving birth to offspring, trade, industry, and so on.  However the males, which accounted for a very small proportion, only needed to take the money given by the state to have fun all day long.
