Chapter 107 - Profits

After thinking a little bit about it, Lin Feng came to another decision. 

To Lin Feng, white crystals only served the purpose of currency. They no longer contained enough energy to aid his cultivation. 

According to Lin Feng’s current situation, this four hundred thousand crystals added to his previous white crystals was already more than enough to cover all of his expenses. No matter where he went,  this would be considered a large sum of money. 

But yellow crystals was another matter. For others it would be different, but for Lin Feng absorbing a single yellow crystal was equivalent to absorbing two hundred white crystals. For the average cultivators, they would only be able to absorb half that amount at most. Right now, absorbing yellow crystals was the most efficient and cost effective means that Lin Feng had. That was why he wanted to exchange three million white crystals for yellow crystals. 

“This…...I’d better consult the headquarters. Yellow crystals can’t be transferred directly, and I don’t know if the headquarters will agree.”

Hearing Lin Feng’s request, Tang Gong could only reply with some difficulty. 

Yellow crystals and white crystals were different, as white crystals could be sent directly to another person through their apocalypse watch account. If Lin Feng wanted white crystals, Tang Gong could have the headquarters transfer the crystals directly to himself and then give the crystals to Lin Feng. 

However, yellow crystals couldn’t be transferred through the apocalypse watch system and had to be given in person. Using the one yellow crystals for one hundred white crystal exchange ratio, three million white crystals would be equivalent to thirty thousand yellow crystals. 

In the apocalypse, people wouldn’t easily give up their yellow crystals. Afterall, first class zombies were easy to hunt whereas second class zombies were much more dangerous. Therefore those with the ability to hunt second class zombies wouldn’t give up their crystals for the easily attained white crystals. 

And thirty thousand yellow crystals wasn’t a small number at all, which meant that Tang Gong had to consult the headquarters before he could give a definite answer to Lin Feng. 

Lin Feng nodded, he knew that this definitely would be putting Tang Gong in a difficult position. However, everyone wanted to maximize their own benefits. If Lin Feng could receive yellow crystals as payment, he definitely wouldn’t take just white crystals. 

Considering Lin Feng’s current cultivation, if he absorbed a hundred yellow crystals he would most likely breakthrough to the sixth class of cultivation. This was a speed that was absolutely out of reach for normal cultivators. Lin Feng didn’t know why he reached breakthroughs faster for the same amount of energy, but since it was beneficial to himself he didn’t question it. 

“Headquarters has relayed their decision. They have agreed, but they hope that next time Brother Lin has a supply like this that he would first consider the Grand Auction House.”

It took several minutes for the headquarters to respond, but seeing the information on his apocalypse watch, Tang Gong happily told Lin Feng with a smile. 

Tang Gong was very happy that the headquarters was able to agree. Being able to complete Lin Feng’s request made Tang Gong feel like he had achieved a great deed and gained great reputation with Lin Feng. Tang Gong had greatly feared a denial from the headquarters, as it was truly difficult to exchange so many yellow crystals. Tang Gong feared that he wouldn’t be able to face Lin Feng anymore with such a failure of the request. 

“Brother Lin, if you have time tomorrow, please come back here to retrieve your payment. Headquarters will be sending the yellow crystals as fast as they can and matters that the Grand Auction House have undertaken will absolutely be done as quickly as possible.”

Tang Gong worried that Lin Feng might not believe that the payment would arrive tomorrow, so he expressed his confidence in the ability of the Grand Auction House. 

Hearing Tang Gong’s explanation, Lin Feng nodded. He nodded even though he didn’t know how the Grand Auction House would collect so many yellow crystals in a single day. But Lin Feng was satisfied with the Grand Auction House’s way of handling things. 

But from Tang Gong’s words, Lin Feng also figured something else out. Tang Gong implied that there were other auction houses in the country. Otherwise Tang Gong wouldn’t have reminded Lin Feng to come to the Grand Auction House first. 

If that really were the case, the situation would become much more interesting. Something that had worried Lin Feng was also greatly reduced. 

If in the entire country there was only the Grand Auction House, Lin Feng would be at an incredible disadvantage. But if there were several other groups that had similar influence, it would be incredibly beneficial to Lin Feng. 

If the Grand Auction House really fell out with Lin Feng, all he had to do was sell even more goods to a rival auction house in order to retaliate. This was something that the Grand Auction House had to consider, causing them to choose a friendlier path, like with having Tang Gong give Lin Feng the hundred thousand crystals as soon as they met again. 

Moreover, the price that the Grand Auction House offered for the diamonds this time definitely wasn’t low. If you calculated the profits, Lin Feng would be the one gaining the lion’s share. If you considered the amount of manpower and resource expenses expended by the Grand Auction House, they wouldn’t be getting a large profit. 

The reason they gave such a good price and even agreed to the unreasonable request to exchange most of it to yellow crystals was definitely them trying to express their goodwill towards Lin Feng. All of this to try to assure good relationships and cooperation with Lin Feng in the future. 

Thinking about all of this, Lin Feng’s concern was reduced. The reason that he had pulled out all these goods was so that he could get money, not risks or danger. 

Lin Feng received four hundred thousand white crystals from Tang Gong and add it to the previously given hundred thousand crystals. Right now Lin Feng had over five hundred thousand white crystals in his apocalypse watch, enough wealth to completely finance a small base. 

Naturally this did not include the promised thirty thousand yellow crystals from the Grand Auction Hall. If you included all those crystals into the calculations, Lin Feng would definitely be considered one of the wealthy in the apocalypse. 

After the transaction, regardless of Tang Gong’s persuasive words and efforts to have him stay longer, Lin Feng left the Tianlong base branch of the Grand Auction House after determining the delivery time of the yellow crystals. 

Since the Grand Auction House hadn’t paid him the yellow crystals, Lin Feng only left behind two of the diamond rings and stored the rest back in his apocalypse watch. Tang Gong understood that this was Lin Feng’s way of dealing with things. The two of them were just good acquaintances in reality, making it impossible for Lin Feng to hand over all the diamonds before he got paid, which would also just be common sense. And if Lin Feng really had given Tang Gong all the diamonds after only having received four hundred thousand crystals, Tang Gong would probably think that Lin Feng was mentally challenged. 

For Lin Feng this day was one of profits, he gave away some useless jewelry from the supermarket and received an incredible amount of resources that were useful in the apocalypse. To Lin Feng, this was incredibly cost-effective. The thing that Lin Feng had lacked the most was crystals, and jewelry to him was something that could neither be eaten nor used to promote cultivation, making it equal in value to the trash that littered the ground.

For the rest of the day Lin Feng stayed in Qian Zongguan’s house. Still tired from all the events that had just happened, everyone was taking the opportunity to get some rest. 

The night passed without event and early the next morning Lin Feng went to see Tang Gong at the promised time in the Grand Auction House. After receiving the promised thirty thousand yellow crystals, Lin Feng departed from the auction house. 

Completing the transaction with Tang Gong took a long time, so Lin Feng prepared to go back to Qian Zongguan’s house directly. 

“AAAAAHNG…...”

As Lin Feng started to return, a piercing siren resounded from every corner of Tianlong base.
