Chapter 108 - Alarm

Lin Feng felt a sense of helplessness arise when he heard the sound of the alarm and wondered to himself what kind of bad luck that he was suffering from.

Since he had entered the apocalypse, Lin Feng had first fought in Zhan Lang base. But even after the fight in the base had been resolved, the base had to face the largest zombie tide it had ever seen. If it weren’t for the rockets that Zhan Lang had launched, Zhan Lang base would probably have fallen to the enemy. If the fight for survival against the zombie tide wasn’t enough for Lin Feng, he also got caught up in the personal battle between Zhan Lang base and Dongshan base.

Then Lin Feng went to Nanshan base, but it wasn’t long before he encountered the apocalypse rain and a second dawning of the apocalypse.

This time he had left Nanshan base and come here to Tianlong base, but it hadn’t even been two days before the alarm had been sounded.

Lin Feng couldn’t help but think about it, and he wondered if the heavens themselves had decided to destroy these bases. Anywhere he went he would encounter these kinds of things. And if him running into all of these incidences one after the other was just coincidence, it would mean that he had heavenly bad luck. But these were things that Lin Feng could not determine.

When he heard the alarm, Lin Feng didn’t turn around to re-enter the Grand Auction House, even though he had just left and was standing outside its door. His and Tang Gong’s relationship wasn’t strong, as they had just met, and Lin Feng didn’t want to expose his true strength. Concerning people that he didn’t know, Lin Feng would rather have them be suspicious of him forever than have them know the entire situation.

Hearing the alarm, the people that were walking around started to panic. Everyone that was standing around or sitting got up and started to move. They didn’t know what was going on, so their best choice was to at least find some shelter.

The building that Lin Feng found for shelter was one that seemed to have been abandoned for a long time, probably since the dawning of the apocalypse. The building was very tall, twenty stories, with clear signs of neglect. The hallways were full of dust and many of the windows were shattered.

Even though it would be expected that there would be no danger, Lin Feng maintained a high level of vigilance to his surroundings. In a world where nothing was certain, only by maintaining vigilance could one even hope to survive.

The elevator was ignored, and instead Lin Feng reached the hallway on the third floor by using the stairs. Lin Feng then searched the apocalypse watch space to retrieve the crossbow.

But looking through the apocalypse watch space with his mind, Lin Feng couldn’t help but become fearful.

Earlier Tang Gong had given him the yellow crystals and Lin Feng had placed them into the apocalypse watch, but he hadn’t paid any attention to the little silver wolf. Before the transaction, Lin Feng had Qian Zongguan find him a large safe and Lin Feng had placed all the yellow crystals into that safe. This allowed Lin Feng to not worry about the little silver wolf eating all the crystals.

But Lin Feng didn’t expect for the ‘little’ silver wolf to have grown to nearly the size of an adult wolf and start pacing around the space in circles.

Did it want to come out? Lin Feng asked himself when he saw the movements of the little silver wolf.

But the question that Lin Feng wanted to ask was, couldn’t the little silver wolf come out on its own? During the time before, the little silver wolf came out of the apocalypse watch all on its own and ate Lin Feng’s fourth class beast soul, making his heart ache for half the day.

With a thought, Lin Feng extracted the little silver wolf from the apocalypse watch. As soon as the little silver wolf left the apocalypse watch, with a “woosh”, it appeared three meters away from Lin Feng. But before Lin Feng could approach the little silver wolf, it sniffed the ground a few times in a circle. He could only watch as the little silver wolf squatted down and two long ribbons dropped behind it.

So it was just taking a dump.

Seeing the little silver wolf’s actions, Lin Feng understood why the it was pacing around inside the apocalypse watch. The little silver wolf just needed to relieve itself.

Lin Feng wondered if the little silver wolf couldn’t enter and exit the apocalypse watch freely after it had grown in size.

The reason that the little silver wolf had grown so large should be because it ate the fourth class beast soul. If the formidable amount of energy contained in the beast soul had accelerated the growth of the wolf, it would take very little time for the little silver wolf to grow to the size of an adult.

Lin Feng looked inside the apocalypse watch at the piles of white crystals and determined that they hadn’t gotten smaller. It seemed like the little silver wolf was still full from eating the beast soul and didn’t need to eat anymore white crystals.

Taking the crossbow from the watch, Lin Feng went to the end of the hallway and stood by the window. It was shattered into pieces and Lin Feng could see the situation outside.

The people outside were still running about. As the warning had come unexpectedly, the people were panic stricken and didn’t know anything about the situation. It was unknown situations that inspired the most fear, as one wouldn’t know anything about what they might be confronted with.

After sending Dong Wu a message not to leave the house, Lin Feng loaded five yellow crystals into the crossbow. The loading slot of the crossbow was split halfway, which told Lin Feng that this crossbow could only be charged with another ten or so yellow crystals before the crossbow would become broken.

…………

Tianlong base headquarters war room.

“Have we still not verified what it is yet?”

Yang Tianlong looked up at a monitor that displayed black dots, and furrowed his brows.

“Reporting to the commander, we tried using the radar but we determined that the enemy has anti-radar shielding or is negating the soundwaves somehow. We can currently determine their position, but not their identities.”

A young man that stood off to the side replied to Yang Tianlong.

“If our seismographs weren’t broken then this would be good, as it seems that they aren’t using airplanes or aircraft. I don’t know of any nearby bases that have so many vehicles that are capable of flight.”

Seeing the densely packed dots on the screen, Yang Tianlong spoke to himself.

On the screen the radar picked something up and displayed multiple flying objects that were ten kilometers away. The objects were moving at high speed, and commander Yang Tianlong sent out his orders.

“Increase the strength of the sensors, I refuse to believe that even if they aren’t making any noise that I won’t be able to see them.”

Yang Tianlong issued his orders as he stared at the screen.

At this moment, Yang Tianlong had a bad premonition, as even through the three years of the apocalypse, mankind still hadn’t encountered flying savage beasts. Even if some birds had become stronger, they weren’t a threat to humanity.

But after the second apocalypse rain, Yang Tianlong had the premonition that humanity’s grasp over aerial domination was going to end.

Since the dawn of the apocalypse there were massive zombies and savage beasts, but using their vehicles, humanity had held reign over air supremacy. Aircraft could transport goods and people with little interference from zombies or beasts.

“Leader, we have successfully identified the enemy.”

The young man called out to Yang Tianlong who was furrowing his brows in contemplation.

Staring at the large screen, they watched as the dots on the screen gradually grew larger. Soon Yang Tianlong could see the true appearance of the enemy.

But seeing what had eluded them for so long caused Yang Tianlong to gasp. Even he, with his eighth class cultivation couldn’t help but become soaked in sweat.
