Chapter 325 – My Daughter Is Likely A Green Tea (part 14) 

Li Su always felt that something was wrong, so she quietly asked others. “Sister Hong, do you remember the last time we had a dinner together and went to the mall to buy lottery tickets?”  

“I remember! Why? Did you win the draw too? I won three boxes of Zhonghua toothpaste. I just went to get it from Old Huang. Zhang Shuyun was lucky and won the electric fan. Her fan just broke down. Her luck is good. She doesn’t have to buy a new one and she can save,” Yang Hong said hastily. 

“How good is a free electric fan? Maybe it will break after a while,” another colleague said.  

“You are just jealous that someone won an electric fan  and you only won a pack of toilet paper!” Yang Hong said angrily. 

“I’m jealous of her? Hehe, what a joke! I don’t even use electric fans at home. I just turn on the air conditioner!” The other party said while rolling his eyes. 

After hearing this, Li Su pulled up the zipper of the bag. She understood why Director Ke said to hide her prize. Someone won just an electric fan and some of the others in the office couldn’t stand it. If they knew that she had won a cell phone, they would be green with envy! 

On the way home, Li Su looked at her phone. It was a 64gb iPhone 6s. She was used to the big-screen phones of the later generations. This 6s was very compact in her hand. Li Su herself had no plans to change her cell phone. Her Nokia was very good and she felt that she could use it for several more years. On the other hand, it was inconvenient for Jingwan to check information on her Samsung phone. She would let Jingwan use it!  

After returning home, Li Su knocked on Su Jingwan’s door. She handed the phone to Su Jingwan. 

“Mum!” Su Jingwan exclaimed in surprise. “My cell phone works perfectly fine. Why did you buy me a cell phone?!”  

“I didn’t buy it. I won it from a draw. Look, there are bags from the shopping mall!” Li Su explained. “Mum doesn’t need it and your brother is still a primary school student, so he doesn’t need it either. It’s for you. It’s also convenient for you to use it to learn English, look up information, and so on.” 

Su Jingwan was still a little puzzled. How could such a coincidence happen? However, her mother said so, so it should be fine. 

“But mum, I can still use my cell phone. You should use this cell phone yourself! Who still uses a Nokia now?!” Su Jingwan handed the cell phone back.  

“I don’t like surfing the internet, so why would I want this? You can use it! Later, you can look online and buy a cell phone case! Apple phones are good quality. If you look after it carefully, you can use it for several years!” Li Su said. “That’s all. I’m going to take a shower.” 

Li Su closed the door and left, leaving Su Jingwan to look at the brand new cell phone. She finally replaced her old one with the new one.  

The next day, when Su Jingwan was doing her homework, she accidentally revealed her new phone.  

Su Jingwan’s deskmate was a little excited when she saw her change to an iPhone. “You have the iPhone 6s, Jingwan? Your mother is so generous!” 

“She didn’t buy it. My mother won a draw.” Su Jingwan felt a little embarrassed and put the phone back. 

The deskmate said, “Even if your mother won the lottery, she still gave the cell phone to you. Your mother is so kind, unlike my mother. When I asked her to buy me a cell phone, she refused, saying that it would delay my studies. Jingwan, your mother is so kind to you!”  

Su Jingwan smiled and nodded. “Mm, my mother treats me really well.” 

Luo Heng, who was behind, saw her satisfied smile and also smiled. It was fine as long as she was happy! 

The other students in the class thought that Luo Heng would pursue Su Jingwan, but Luo Heng did not do anything. He only attended and left class on time every day, and occasionally exchanged a few words with Su Jingwan. 

Luo Heng knew that Jingwan had good grades in her studies. In her previous life, she was unable to go to college due to various reasons. At the same time, it was also the reason why she was not recognised by his parents and was criticised when she was with him in the first place. If Jingwan hadn’t treated his parents with her kindness and sincerity in the end, they would not have been able to get together.

On this day, Luo Heng sent Su Jingwan a WeChat message: ‘I have a few sets of test papers from XX city, some of which are not bad. Do you want them?’ He also took a few pictures of the test papers and sent them over. He knew that Jingwan would definitely be interested.  

A minute later, Su Jingwan wrote back: ‘If it’s convenient, can you lend me a photocopy? Thank you!’ 

“You don’t need to photocopy it. You can just take it and use them. I don’t need them. Where is your home? I’ll send it to you! It’s inconvenient to be at school tomorrow morning.” Luo Heng smiled slightly. He actually knew the address of the Su family’s house, but he hoped that Jingwan could tell him herself.  

Two minutes later, Su Jingwan texted back: ‘Okay, my home is in building XX, XX community. Send me a message when you arrive.’ 

Luo Heng smiled, picked up his phone, carried the bag of papers, and left.  

Twenty minutes later, Luo Heng appeared downstairs at Su Jingwan’s house and sent her a WeChat message: ‘I’m here.’   

After a while, Su Jingwan went downstairs.  

“Good evening!” Luo Heng walked over. 

Su Jingwan was a little embarrassed. “Good evening.”   

Luo Heng handed over the bag. “These are the test papers. You can take them. I will bring you new test papers when they come out.”   

Su Jingwan took the papers and immediately took them out to have a look. They were indeed the papers that the teacher had said. She looked focussed and full of joy. 

“I really don’t know how to thank you. But, don’t you need it yourself?” Su Jingwan looked at Luo Heng.  

“I’m from XX City. I’ve done these papers before. By the way, here is a small cake. You can eat it when you’re hungry after studying the papers at night. It’s cold, and you don’t have much to wear. You should go back in quickly!” Luo Heng laughed. He handed the small cake in his right hand to Su Jingwan, turned around, and was about to leave. 

“Hey, wait a minute. Wait five minutes for me. I’ll be right back.” Su Jingwan thought for a while, then raised her head. Then, she went upstairs with her things.  

Luo Heng really stood there and waited. 

Five minutes later, Su Jingwan came downstairs carrying an insulated lunch box. “This is corn, tomato and beef soup. Drink some to warm your body! Thank you!”  

Luo Heng looked a little excited. In his previous life, because he was not in good health, Jingwan learned to make some nourishing soup and got him to drink it every day. In one winter, his complexion became rosy. It was because of this that his mother slowly changed her views on Jingwan. Of course he knew that this corn, tomato and beef soup couldn’t have been made by Jingwan, but did Jingwan giving some to him meant that she was a little closer to him, right? 

“Thank you. I will drink it all.” Luo Heng took the insulated lunch box. “It’s cold, hurry up and go back inside!”  

 Su Jingwan said kindly, “Be careful on the road.”  

Luo Heng watched Su Jingwan go upstairs. He then smiled and walked out of the community with his lunch box in his arms. It so happened that Li Su came back from overtime and passed by Luo Heng. 

Li Su didn’t stop walking, but she was a little puzzled. The insulated lunch box that the person was holding just now seemed familiar!  

Li Su went upstairs while thinking.  

“I’m back!” Li Su said softly.  

Su Jingwan heard a voice coming out of the room. “Mum, you are back? Grandma Zhao and Jing’an have already fallen asleep. Are you hungry? Grandma Zhao made soup. Would you like a bowl?” 

Li Su touched the fat on her stomach. She hesitated for a moment, trying to decide if she should have some or not. Finally, she surrendered. “Okay, I’ll have a bowl.” Aunt Zhao’s cooking was not good, but her soups had improved greatly in recent years. 

Su Jingwan turned around and went to the kitchen to fill up two bowls of soup. The mother and daughter sat opposite each other and drank the soup.  

After finishing the soup, Li Su stood up. “Let me wash the bowls! Don’t you need to sleep?” 

“My classmate gave me a few papers, which are pretty good. I wanted to study one, then go to bed after. Mum, you can take a shower and sleep first. Don’t worry about me. I will definitely go to bed before eleven o’clock,” Su Jingwan said with a smile.  

Li Su nodded, then took a paper bag out from her bag. “On the way back, I saw an old man selling roasted sweet potatoes on the side of the road, so I bought one. If you are hungry, eat some. The soup is quite light, so it may not be enough.”  

Su Jingwan took the paper bag with a smile. “Thank you, mum!” 

After Su Jingwan returned to her room, she put the roasted sweet potatoes aside and buried herself in the paper. An hour passed without Su Jingwan noticing. She raised her head. As expected of a famous teacher’s famous paper. The difficulty and breadth of this topic were much higher than those of the number 1 middle school. Su Jingwan put down her pen, turned to the answers at the back, and began to check the questions. She wanted to know how many points she could get in this test.  

When she calculated her final score, Su Jingwan was a little dissatisfied. She only scored 135 points on the 150-point math paper! This was probably the gap! But Su Jingwan refused to admit defeat. Give her some more time and she would definitely do better. 

Su Jingwan rubbed her stomach, feeling a little hungry. Her eyes lingered for a few seconds between her mother’s roasted sweet potatoes and Luo Heng’s pastries. She chose the roasted sweet potatoes without hesitation!  

After eating the roasted sweet potatoes, Su Jingwan looked at her phone. It was already half past ten. She washed up quickly, then plugged in her earphones, turned off the lights and went to bed. She listened to English for half an hour before she slowly fell asleep.  

When Su Jingwan woke up the next morning, she looked at the cake. After thinking about it, she gave it to Su Jing’an. “Do you want to eat this? If you want it, then take it!” 

Su Jing’an’s eyes lit up. “This cake has a wonderful taste. It’s so expensive. Mum is so partial. You only buy it for older sister!”   

Su Jingwan gave him a blank look. “Is this your catchphrase? You say it all the time. Mum didn’t buy this cake. My classmate did. My mother bought baked sweet potatoes last night, but you were already asleep at the time, so I ate it. This is to compensate you.” 

Su Jing’an giggled. “I just said that casually. Older sister, if you really don’t want to eat it, then I will eat it!”   

Su Jingwan hummed. Losing weight was a woman’s lifelong pursuit. There was too much sugar in the cake, and she would feel a heavy burden on her heart. Unlike roasted sweet potatoes, she could comfort herself by saying that it was a coarse grain and she wouldn’t gain weight. 

When Su Jing’an saw that she really didn’t want to eat it, he immediately started to eat it happily.  

Aunt Zhao came out of the kitchen. “Hey, where is our insulated lunch box? Why is it missing?”  

Su Jingwan felt a little uncomfortable. “Grandma Zhao, you don’t need to look for it. I used that lunch box.” 

Li Su came out of the bathroom. “It must be the boy from last night. At that time, I thought the lunch box in his arms looked familiar. It really belongs to our family!”   

Su Jingwan was a little surprised, but she still told the truth. “He is a new transfer student from our class. He came to give me papers. I saw that it was cold outside. Since I troubled him, I gave him a box filled with soup.” 

Li Su nodded. “That’s fine. That’s what you should do. What papers are these? Are they hard to get?”  

“Mm, they are test papers from XX city. The teacher said they are very good. My classmate just got it, so he gave me a copy,” Su Jingwan said.
