The Mystic Court

17th Floor

The special advisory room in that floor is where Reche is given residence.

…… Come to think about it, didn’t I meet her for the first time just yesterday?

…… Because of playing together in the ‘Playground of the God’, it doesn’t actually feel like that though.

He opens the door,

To the very next corner after entering the room were her shoes loosely taken off from last night.

 “Reche~, you there?” (Fei)

“Un. Wait a bit~ I am in a good spot right now.” (Reche)

The voice came from the drawing aka living room.

Reche was sitting on the sofa wearing the same tank-top dress which she wore from yesterday morning, engrossed in the monitor in her hands.

The game: God-Pretend; with the giant God Titan.

“Over here, even though we ran into the department building, escaping to the shopping-district by turning right from there be also a good possibility, I think” (Reche)

“Are we going to do a reflection-session?” (Fei)

“Un. Next time let’s do this. Just think about it. Isn’t it exciting?” (Reche)

The former dragon God smiled innocently.

Without Fei himself understanding, he kept unknowingly staring at her side face.

“Oh well, let’s stop watching the re-broadcasted video for now.” (Reche)

“Is it okay?”(Fei)

“Well, I’ve rewatched it four times already.” (Reche)

“You’re watching that way too much!?” (Fei)

“But~ it was the first time I challenged the ‘Play Of Gods’ mon~.” (Reche)

“My excitement just doesn’t calm down.” (Reche)

Reche turned around towards Fei, sitting on top of the sofa.

“But isn’t it the same for both of us?” (Fei)

Reche sitting crossed leg looked up towards Fei with a mischievous look on her face.

“How was it~?, going against a God after a long time.” (Reche)

“…… It was obviously fun. I experienced the thrill after a long time.” (Fei)

The reason-battle against Gods can never be not fun.

And if allowed to say more, yesterday’s match was way more fulfilling than any of the last three God games played before.

Probably as much as I —

Nope, it was because she, the former God-sama, enjoyed the game even more than me.

…… Now, even during last night.., aren’t we together almost all the time?

…… It was only because she could become so engrossed and crazy about playing games.

That was why I could also enjoy it so much.

“———” (Fei)

“What’s wrong?” (Reche)

“Rather than thinking it as superficial, I would like you to hear it as a possibility; just yesterday, no apostle were laughing or were in a good mood. They all had a stiff expression on their face.” (Fei)

“Un” (Reche)

“In the eyes of other apostles, ‘The Play of Gods’ is not just a game. They would probably relate it to something close to work I guess. Just like how athletes think sports are, I think.” (Fei)

An apostle is someone who challenges God. They are heroes, and an idol.

They are humans who receive support and cheers from other fellow humans to challenge the ‘Play of Gods’. They are people who are asked for a sign when seen walking or roaming around the city.

Although, only till their active hours.

With their third defeat, that same apostle loses their right to challenge God.

Falling from their position as an idol, that is an apostle.

That fear of losing, losing their place, is a fear that is inhabited by each and every apostle here.

“I should not be defeated; everyone is working their hardest. I have a huge sense of responsibility behind my back. But that is just the upfront, when you put it inside-out…… When your team gets defeated, it’s always: ‘it was whose mistake’, ‘who should take responsibility,’ and then eventually it becomes a huge dispute. I am always a bit uncomfortable with that.” (Fei)

I don’t want that to happen.

“She” who taught me all about games, it is because she taught me to do just it’s opposite.

“Whether you win or lose: ‘It was fun wasn’t it? Let’s play again!’ to say that.” (Fei)

“That is mine and hers one and only promise —-” (Fei)

IT IS OKAY TO LOSE

Someone made a mistake, our luck wasn’t good enough, isn’t that’s why its called a game?

Such were my teachings from her.

“It’s a great feeling to be desired by God itself as an opponent in a game, and to think that there are more of such strong opponents out there; Just thinking about it makes my heart race. But well…. In the Mystic court, my opinion just remains a minority though.” (Fei)

Do you want to challenge Gods and win,

or,

Do you want to challenge Gods for just having fun.

That is the basic difference which remains between Fei and the other apostles about challenging Gods in the Mystic court, or so I thought.

Till he met Reche.

“—— However,”

Relaxing his shoulders, Fei could not help but have a big smile.

“Yesterday was really fun. Due to having to run so much throughout the game for a certain someone from somewhere, I could not even feel the heavy air in playing games at all.”

Well, the other apostles might have been quite tense though I guess.

But more than that, Reche kept running beside me all the time. It was so ecstatic.

“…… But are you happy with the answer?” (Fei)

“Yep, I am very happy.” (Reche)

Reche stretched her legs forwards which was just moments ago cross legged.

She was constantly staring at Fei.

“Hey Fei. Do you have any desires?” (Reche)

[TL: carnal desires? The term used is “yokubo”]

“…… say what?” (Fei)

“Ah, it was a mistake for wish. You see, if it is me, ‘Return to being a God’ is a wish I have right~. So I was thinking whether Fei is kind of selfless or a wish-less type of person.” (Reche)

“I have too” (Fei)

“Aree? So unexpected.” (Reche)

Reche blinks her eyes in astonishment.

“Ehhh What What, Tell ME~~~!” (Reche)

“Even if you expect much from it, it is not that much of a great wish.” (Fei)

“HA!? … Don’t tell me.. A PERVERTED WISH~!” (Reche)

“HOW WOULD IT EVEN COME TO THAT?” (Fei)

“But, because boys of your age are all like that. It was even written in the magazine given by the Head Manager ~.” (Reche)

“God would become very sad if ‘it’ were asked to fulfil such a wish. Well, it’s not such a biggie for them. But well…. That is…..” (Reche)

Fei looked away from the Dragon God, Leo Reche, who had exactly the same facial and personality features as the girl/lady he had been searching for so~ long.

“…… I am searching for a person.” (Fei)

“Who?”(Reche)

“A person who always played games with me when I was little. I don’t even know the name of the person. I had always remembered calling her by ‘Onee-chan~’.” (Fei)

I was taught all about games by her.

I couldn’t beat her no matter how much I tried, no matter how many times I challenged her in my childhood. I challenged her every day, be it morning or night and she would happily accept my challenge.

“Let’s play again, Fei ~”

But one day, she suddenly disappeared.

Leaving with just a promise. A promise to meet again in future.

“…… I guess, it is someone you could call my teacher. I want to meet her again and express my gratitude to her.” (Fei)

“The way I am now-today is without a doubt all thanks to that person.” (Fei)

Even the three consecutive victories achieved in the ‘Play of Gods’; all because of her.

It was not because Fei was a genius. Nope; it was because of the thousands, tens of thousands times repeatedly losing to that ‘Onee-chan~’, which trained his spirit and body.

“With the complete victory of the ‘Play of Gods’, I would get the ‘Reward’ right.”

“My wish had always been just one. To find that person who used to play with me from that long time back.” (Fei)

“Fu~un, somehow, it’s really an interesting wish you have.” (Reche)

Reche starts pondering with her arms folded towards each other.

“But Fei, Don’t you have any leads to find that person? Other than only her liking for games?” (Reche)

“Well the thing is, I somehow do not remember her name, and even her face of voice is vague in my memories. But well, there is one thing that I clearly remember…—–” (Fei)

So as to say,

She looked just like Reche, especially her fiery flame colored hair that is.

The words which was about to come out, somehow stopped at my throat and didn’t come out.

“Don’t remember? Well, it doesn’t really matter, you can just wish that all together with a wish like ‘Please restore my memories’.” (Reche)

Reche jumps up from the sofa.

“Now then—” (Reche)

The fiery colored haired girl-goddess then reached out her hands to Fei with her best smile ever seen.

“I will return back to being a God. You will find that person who you are desperately searching for. A Team Is Then Formed!.” (Reche)

“YEAH, YOU GOT THAT COMING.” (Fei)

To those small hands,

Fei also puts forth his own hands and returns her the High Five.

“I promise to challenge with all my strength. Aiming at the tenth level of the ‘Play of Gods’ in mind.” (Fei)
