For Amber, who spent ten years sleeping in that very room until her capture to the capital, there was no such thing as discomfort and unfamiliarity.

Amber’s soft, rhythmic breaths soon filled the room, clearly asleep.

Kalix felt flustered at the sight of Amber’s quick descent into sleep.

He carefully circled around the bed and stepped towards Amber. Kalix found himself mesmerized at the sight of her gentle eyelashes that looked like a butterfly’s wing resting on her eyes and her chest quietly moving up and down.

“…Madam.” Just to be sure, he called out to Amber with a small voice, but she didn’t stir at all. “How could you sleep and just leave me awake like this…” Kalix let out a deep sigh as he rubbed his face in disbelief.

That night, Kalix wouldn’t be able to sleep at all.

Amber woke up dazed the next day. It had been such a long time since she slept in a comfortable bed without any tension that her body felt heavy and languid.

However, her mind was still clear.

She felt the room slowly brighten as the early morning sunlight leaked int between the closed curtains of the window.

“Mmmh.” Amber let out a soft sound as she slowly opened her eyes.

Sitting up, the blanket that had been pulled up to her neck fell, and her sleek white neckline became exposed as her loose night dress shifted.

She rubbed her eyes as she checked the space next to her.

It was empty. When she reached over, it was cold.

‘I guess he left first?’ Amber didn’t think much of it as she got out of bed.

Even if Kalix left first, it didn’t matter so long as he pretended to act like they had spent their first night together. She was making her way to the vanity table when she saw Kalix sitting on the sofa in the corner of the room.

Without even realizing it herself, Amber froze.

Leaned back into the sofa with his eyes closed, the morning light that shone on Kalix as he slept truly gave him the impression of a fairy tale knight.

Amber felt the unfamiliar feeling in her chest grow as she stared at him. Though she tried to determine what it was, she was unable to pinpoint just what she felt. “Your Excellency?”

It seemed he wasn’t asleep. Kalix opened his eyes as soon as he was called. His dark blue eyes shone in the morning light.

“You’re up early.”

His complexion looked so good that she couldn’t imagine that he stayed up all night.

“It seems like you woke up early as well, Madam.” He stared at Amber for a moment in a daze before speaking again. “I need to get ready to see the knights off.”

Amber was about to pull the bell rope when she stopped mid-movement and turned her head towards Kalix. “Is it okay if I called for the maids…?”

“Of course, it’s fine. I shall leave first then.” Kalix spoke as he got up from the sofa. Amber noticed that he was already in his daily work attire. Before Amber could even ask about how that was possible, Kalix left.

Amber pulled the bell rope, and soon Jenia and Luna came into the room with warm water and breakfast.

According to the two, Sonia was organizing the luggage Amber had brought with her from the West.

“Good morning, madam!” Jenia and Luna had genuinely bright smiles on their faces, as if they were truly glad to have become Amber’s maids.

With their help, Amber had her breakfast and changed.

Amber’s dress of the day was one that was quite unique, even among the ones she brought from home. With ivory fabric, wide sleeves, a long skirt hem, and a wrapped band below her chest, Amber looked stunning.
