First Operation (1)

Xie Wanying turned around to see Dr. Wang hurrying out of the office. The other group of medical students were all nervous. Sensing the subtle atmosphere, they kept their eyes fixed on Dr. Wang’s every move.

“Yes,” Director Lu stated clearly. “Hurry up and make a bed—” Dr. Wang told the nurse, while talking on the phone with Director Lu, “You’re saying there’s no need to make a bed, Director Lu? Does the patient not be admitted? The patient only wants to be treated for his wound in our ward, right?”

The nurse was taken aback when she heard this. “Not admitted? Wouldn’t treatment in the emergency room be preferable? Why was she sent to our ward?”

“What are you talking about?” This is Director Lu’s most important patient, and he wants to be treated for his wound in the ward, not the emergency room; do you not understand? You do not know what the nature of the ER is. It is chaotic, and there are a variety of patients. Treating wounds in such an environment will impact the patient’s disposition,”  Dr. Wang said, educating the nurse. The nurse understood the event and said, “I’ll go to the dressing room to prepare the things you need.”

Dr. Wang made a hand gesture. “Move fast, Director Lu, and the patient will come later.”

The nurse stood and rushed away.

The director’s distinguished guest was not an ordinary patient, and he must be well received. A group of medical students looked at each other with confusion. What type of patient would be the distinguished guest of the director?

Xie Wanying looked at the list of department doctors hung in the ward corridor, which indicated that the chief director of neurosurgery had the last name Pang and the deputy director had the last name Lu.

Xie Wanying remembered her senior brother’s words and knew she shouldn’t join in the fun like the other medical students, so she went straight to her senior brother’s office.

Dr. Wang unexpectedly turned around, saw her back, and yelled, “Student! What are you doing? There’s a patient coming. Where would you like to go if you do not wish to observe?”

Previously, when Dr. Wang saw her wandering alone, he ignored her, suggesting she should learn things on her own in the ward.  Suddenly, he adopted a hostile perception toward her, obviously because Director Lu was nearby.

After thinking about it, her senior brother told her not to ask questions. She originally wanted to be a transparent person, but now that Dr. Wang has instructed her not to turn around, she might cause trouble for her senior brother.

Xie Wanying turned around and rejoined the medical student team.

Now, Dr. Wang looked satisfied. A group of people lined up neatly and stood at the door of the dressing room. Inside, the nurse was preparing surgical equipment and disinfection when she abruptly asked Dr. Wang, “What is the status of the patient? The emergency department didn’t make it clear.”

“We’ll know when the patient arrives,” Dr. Wang stated.

Over the phone, Director Lu was unwilling to reveal any further information about the patient, saying that there was no need for them to know the patient’s condition.

Since this was the case, the nurse had no choice but to stop asking, and she also stood inside.

After about a half-hour wait, the large group of people saw several figures appear at the end of the corridor.

Therefore, in the ward, it was said to await the arrival of emergency patients.  In most cases, it was good for the patient to be able to come up in half an hour.

People were also alert in the emergency department, where they had to wait for emergency patients to be transferred to the ward.

Especially those who were mildly ill, had acquaintances, and insisted that they would not be hospitalized.

When Director Lu arrived in person, he went to the emergency room to bring the patient up.

Director Lu’s complaints and explanations to the patient’s family could be heard from a distance. “This has always been the case in our hospital’s emergency department. Because new recruits don’t understand many things, they move slowly.”
